im not sure that just seems mind of meta, the knight can easily be acting on a set of guiding principles without a "mind" it is attracted to hallownest after thk fails as that is its purpose, in the same way a robot can be programmed with a set of goals in mind and the 'freedom' to make 'choices' that allow it to further that goal, sure it could be evidence of a mind but I dont see why everyone seems to present it factually

No, that’s the main story that is actually presented to us in the game. Themes of motherhood are poorly implemented, GMS isn’t even something we really know about until the end of act 2. Lace isn’t an actual character until Phantom and the cradle.
