No ending stops Hornet from being captured, and the ability to break seals with bugs from Pharloom makes Hornet being locked in the Black Egg not an issue. Dreamers also don’t die when sealed, we simply didn’t have the means to remove them without killing them.

I kind of viewed it as probably being the player's last ending so from a more meta point of view it's the culmination of the journey so far of the player and the vessel, and as such both reach their "best" or like "highest" forms, with the player having to be the most skilled theyve ever been to beat the absolute radiance and the vessel turning into the shade lord, but yeah it does kind of end up being a random side excursion in-world.. i like the feeling though of killing all the bosses one by one and working your way up through the ranks, it feels like a final send-off from the game that still leaves your imagination active and wondering what comes next storywise
