i can give you a tip i learnt 10 minutes into the game by myself. Its a rather obvious thing, but it seems some people did not realise it - and its Very useful here we go :||the game is always saved no matter what you do. So if you go somewhere and progress or whatever, if you go back to main menu - you wont lose your progress. You will just respawn at the respawn point. That is VERY USEFUL. You can treat it as a " fast travel " sort of - for example, you are far away from respawn point and you wanna go back? Just go back to main menu. It has other obvious uses, but i dont wanna spoil - you can think about those, its rather self explanatory once you know this ||

I feel like Team Cherry gave it a thought about giving players an option to use something to make the game a bit easier for previous Hollow Knight players, it also has a chance of hitting a critical hit with very high hitspeed, also has decreased range as a con to balance it out. So how is it bad design?

Sure lots of yellows is not that great and the amount of red tools is low but as a game developer how would it feel if you made a crest that gives you a regular downwards pogo with the fastest hitspeed in the game with a critical hit chance with 2 slots for each type of tool. You'd definitely need to remove at least one aspect to balance it out

because if you're giving the player a crest this early on ( 500 rosaries ), it goes without saying that the crest should introduce you to the vast arsenal of crest you've created, not creating a crutch that many average players will become reliant on simply because it work, people go playthroughs without experimenting any crest ( yes, people, not all of them but people ), meaning TC failed to at least make them feel encouraged to explore other crest

frankly, this depend on the player too, but i will only be speaking on TC's side of thing because i won't be able to speak for the player's side

Now that aside, the crest that can be taken this early on, has a gimmick that literally pale in comparison to other crest. A chance of a critical hit? This is far more useful for TAS-play with RNG manipulation. At least add something like turnarounds, or another fun gimmick that can push the players toward actually working for it, not just "oh great, a crit"

You're defeating your point here by saying we should remove something from Wanderer's and add it to the Beast's crest without simply removing anything to balance it out. You said Team Cherry should balance crests out to not make one better than the others to allow people to not only main one crest. Beast's crest would become way too overpowered if you add all of these aspects to it
