Yeah there's complexity to it, what with managing multiple enemies and whatnot.

However, I'd say that I (and probably a lot of people) prefer it when a boss has a complex, single moveset instead of having the complexity be through added enemies. A boss with a complex moveset can give a feeling of an elaborate duel akin to stuff like Fromsoft's work, which I'd say is generally prefered to an boss where you have to manage multiple enemies, especially when said boss's moveset in and off itself is quite basic.

The boss stops feeling like a boss, and more like a regular enemy arena, except for a large hitbox moving across the screen, if that makes sense.

Not necessarily, i'd argue its faults lie in the major standards of today's game. Where big games often feature a singular enemy with complex moveset.

Beastfly is simple, 3 moves with only 2 actual attack.
You were built up to fighting Beastfly with what little you had. You can Pogo for i-frame, silkspear to get rid of small ads. And just overall manuver your way.

The only real threat is the slightly bigger ad, but is extremely parriable. The smaller one is just a small inconvenience. All why the 2 "simple" attack is now more of a threat because you're risking manuvering right into its path.

And the fight becomes much more intense and interesting in far fields. So beastfly never felt annoying or poorly designed or frustrating to me. Just a matter of difference to the majority of the other bosses. You're not dueling, you're getting jumped
