I think it's because you're choosing not to dodge and use silk on a skill. You're taking up time to counter instead of just dodging and hitting the enemy with the needle a few times or using a more damaging spell.

I see the use, countering hard to dodge attacks. But taking the time and silk to do it otherwise feels like a waste.

True for some at least. Regardless nothing is really too big a deal as far as my complaints go. I just personally find the (2?) fights in the entire game without a floor as unfun. The rest is awesome, and the game gives you plenty of tools to deal with whatever bullshit is thrown at you. I don't personally understand people who claim this game is too hard? The only time I felt this is bullshit is when I get hit by a NORMAL ENEMY for 2 masks, into an environmental hazard that also deals 2 masks, for a total of 4 masks. Otherwise everything felt pretty fair to me in this game. Anyone struggling either doesn't have much patience, or hasn't done any exploring.

Side note about Seth, for some reason I feel his fight could really benefit from a wider screen, it felt really awkward with how often he'd move off my screen entirely, only to immediately teleport right next to me.

What people seem to forget, in a similar vein to Elden Ring, is that these games are made to allow you to explore and gain more tools and options. You can choose to throw your head at a wall until it breaks, (the wall or your head), or you can find upgrades and tools to make a fight significantly easier. But its still important to actually learn the boss' moves and telegraphs. Just like in any good soulslike.
