Hi, I'm trying to get my controller working on current patch mac. I tried remapping through steam and manually copying the latest modding api (which did not appear to do anything, game title screen is still a white square and controller still does not work). I copied the modding api from here https://github.com/hk-modding/api/releases/tag/1.5.78.11833-68 and its readme talks about ModInstaller2, did I download the wrong thing or do you think I have to downpatch to get it to work?

I am, I used Scarab with 1.5, apparently the installer on 1.4 would always download a few windows files instead of mac files, so you had to copy them over manually. I figured I'd also that a shot.

That's like the whole point of steam, what you're doing can cause problems when modding, take up extra space on your drive, and limits your access to very useful features steam has like controller support, verifying game integrity, steam betas, etc. Not really sure why you've chose to do this, but I'm not gonna try and figure out how to help you with that, my suggestion is to delete those files and use the ones that are part of your steam library (If you want to access your game files that are connected to steam, go to your steam library > right click HK > select properties > local files > browse.) and use scarab to install mods to that location, if you're having further issue come back and describe it
