I was going to set-up a multiworld room rando with HKMP. I am confused, do I need to play on 1.4 or 1.5? It looks like HKMP is for 1.5, but if multiworld updated for 1.5?

multiworld means items you need to progress could be in another player's world, itemsync means if one player gets an item everyone gets it

As far as modding goes, the only differences are that 1.4 has Randomiser mods. 1.5 is generally better to use of you aren't using Rando.

The differences are almost entirely backend. That changes the way the game feels overall, but apart from the Watcher Knights getting back their back roll they lost three years ago, it's basically identical.

So I made a mistake. I installed both mod managers, and now both are broken. I can’t add mods from either one, it shows me that they are installed but they aren’t. The loading bar does not appear when I launch it and in the top corner it says “modding api”. Is there any way to make it possible for me to mod hollow knight again?

You are probably in your game files and not your save files.

Randomiser Map S is the most up to date version. Randomapmod is outdated now.

Try installing a mod and see if it works now.

Just click install on custom Knight, and it should install 2 mods. Then open your game and you should see a spaghetti icon above your patch number, and some stuff in the top left.

Hmm. Double check custom Knight still says installed next to it in scarab. If it does then it sounds like the settings file for it is broken (which can happen on install for some unknown reason). Head to your saves folder and delete customknight.globalsettings.json

\ so I've tried to install SmolKnight a few different ways. First through the Radiance manager, version 8.7.1, then manually through a github link just putting the file in the mods folder. And the mod works, but it doesn't toggle the size on backspace like all the guides say it should and some videos show it doing, and it doesn't show up in the "Mod Options" menu for me to switch sizes manually or set a new toggle key

Yup, I’m pretty sure only one of the sizes work on 1.4, you need to get 1.5, and to make the mod work you should grab scarab, the 1.5 installer

The toggle and being Beeg wasn't actually in the original Smolknight.

It was added under another name originally, and then just made party of the main mod when ported to 1.5

If you want to use it in 1432:

If you're on MacOS then you often need to do extra steps:

see the 3rd pin's post about what to do after changing patches
if mod installer 2 doesn't open (or Scarab for current patch), then right click it, view package contents, and navigate through the folders until you find ModInstaller2.app (or Scarab.app), and launch that one

Was trying out Custom Knight on scarab, and it the skins wouldn't show up. go to your saves and delete any file related to CK with .globalsettings in it
