Hi I tried to install mods on my cracked version of the game using Mod Installer 2 but my game started crashing, so i deleted all the mod files i had but the game still crashes. I wanted to know if there is a way to unninstall the Mod Installer so I can still play Vanilla at least.

I need some help. I downloaded the installer, and have the Modding API zip in the main hollow knight folder. I'm trying to get Hollowpoint to work so I have Hollow Point and it's dependency in the "mods" sub-folder. I've never done this before so I don't know if I'm missing any steps.

The installer should take care of this all for you.

As long as you have the correct installer, it handles the Modding API, and will get Hollow Point and Mod Common. If you downloaded random .zips and put them in those folders, you'll break stuff.

my game fails to load at all. Getting the attached screenshot error. I used ModInstaller to try to get the randomizer. I'll send a picture of the mod folders right after this message cause I'm not sure how to send multiple pictures haha. I have hollow knight on steam, I'm managing various versions via having the .exe and the _data folder all in a separate folder and just grabbing and moving the appropiate version. It worked fine for downpatching and running 1.4.32. I have Windows 10 64bits.

First, download and unzip the api and open the folders till you find a couple Assembly-CSharp dll files. Set that tab aside. Open your game files (steam library > right click HK > properties > local files > browse) then go \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight.app/Contents\Resources\Data\Managed\ and drag the earlier Assembly-CSharp files into the managed folder, replacing existing ones, also make sure to move the Mods folder into Managed, then just place the dll files for mods into that folder

Make sure you put the right files in the right place. The files should just be Assembly-CSharp.dll, might also be one that has "firstpass" at the end. And make sure you place it in the right managed folder, Mac actually has two. Be sure the pathing is exactly: \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight.app/Contents\Resources\Data\Managed\, and
not \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight.app/Contents\Managed\.
Make sure you're in the correct game installation, going to your steam library > right clicking HK > properties > local files > browse will put you in the right place for sure.

Carefree is active, it's just glitched. To fix it, unequip it, set it to level 0, and save edit it to level 5. Or use 1.5 debug, it should have that fixed

I've been trying to save edit a 1.4.3.2 file to get carefree melody, but it is glitching and showing as grimmchild 0 but still with the carefree effects. I have tried the fix where you unequip it, set it to level 0 and then save edit it to level 5, but it's still broken

Use scarab from the pins if you want to mod ver 1.5 (rando hasn’t updated yet) otherwise use the instructions in the pins for that problem (revert game to ver 1.4.3.2)

You disable it in your RandomizerGlobalSettings file, which is in the your saves folder.
After dialing it, it may not go away- if it doesn't you just have to start another new file, and then go back to your current one (warning: starting another file overwrites some of your logs, if you are using them.)

I think Mod Installer 2 uses the same directory as Scarab.

You can use Mod Installer 1, it just manually instal most mods though.

You can try running this, which will reset mod installer 2s path, and check as well:

There's not exactly a "co-op" mod.
You can use HKMP on Scarab (1.5) which is a multiplayer mod. Progress isn't synchronized though- you both will have to do everything, but you can help eachother do it.

It crashed for me as well when I first tried. Make sure you're on the current version of hollow knight and you are using the scarab launcher. To find the scarab launcher check the pinned post.
