over there it went into steam library

I have the folder, and I can see my saves in the folder, but the tutorial I used said to set the path to something called "Hollow_knight (files)" and I don't think I have it...

1. Go to your steam library > right click HK > properties > local files > browse > check the file pathing. This'll ensure you've pathed the installer to the right spot, if it is somehow the wrong path, (If you're using Mi1), select the "Change default install path". (If you're using mi2/scarab) reset your installer with these instructions, and it'll ask you again #archived-modding-help message

2. There's several reasons mods might not be working, can you elaborate please? Does the installer work? Does the installer give you any error? Does the game start? Does anything show up in game (top left corner of the main menu)? If not, when you open the options menu is there a mods tab?

That shouldn't be what it's called. If I understand right, you're looking for where to path the mod installer too, correct? If so then you're looking for the folder called Hollow Knight, it should contain the Hollow_knight.app file, tho that might not appear if you look for it using the installer. If you wanna know the exact right place, then: Go to your steam library > right click HK > properties > local files > browse > the folder this puts you in is the exact one you need to path the installer too

a friend of mine needs some help getting their mod installer to start, they're on mac. They followed everything correctly up to the opening scarab but then it says that it quit unexpectedly. we've been looking for some remedy in the server search but haven't found any, some help would be nice

They need to take Scarab app out of the Archive.
So, take the file they downloaded, and double-click it (it should open a folder).
Drag the app inside onto the desktop.
Double-click that app

If that app doesn't work, then they may need to right-click, and select "show contents", which will open more folders, and then they can navigate in until they find another app that's inside of it. Then drag that out onto the desktop, and double-click it.

Download the unix one, unzip it, open the folders till you find the "Assembly-CSharp" dll files, go to your game files, follow this path: \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight.app/Contents\Resources\Data\Managed\ move the assembly-csharp files into the managed folder, replace any existing ones, done

the modding api is installed the problem is that we dont know how to drag and drop the files in the right places or what to mix them into if that makes sense

the unix and multiplayer files are downloaded and everything just dont know where to put them and what to do with the multiplayer one however when replacing the 2 dll files in the unix the game will crash on before start up

What unix files? and by multiplayer files I assume you mean "HKMP.dll", that should go in a folder called "Mods" inside the managed folder, atleast I think. Haven't actually used scarab yet

It sounds like you put things in the wrong places, like the whole folders instead of the assembly csharp files. Mac shouldn't have a hollow_knight_Data folder unless it's the one you downloaded for the api

So i used the debug mod to grind for geo. I gave myself all charms and now even after switching back to the base game with no mods on I still have all the charms even tho I did not have them before the mod is there a way I can fix this? I put on void heart and it is taking up all my notches and I havent even finished the game yet and would like too without restarting the whole thing on a new save

Most debug changes effect the regular game, you can try loading an earlier backup but it's possible it didn't save early enough. Your other choice is save editing most the charms to unowned. And if your goal was to grind for geo why didn't you just cheat in the geo, and why did you even need to if you're that early?
