Hollow Knight is one of the only games I've ever bought multiple times, and it is the only game I intentionally bought multiple times, when my original copy was on steam. I have like 3 games on switch that I want to buy on PC, but never feel like I can justify the cost of, just for the convenience of having them in my computer.

I'm half-tempted to buy it even more times when I next see it on sale, just to have keys of it to gift people.

Nop that's still not it :/ I copied the game files, made a new steam shortcut, launch the modded game version, yet steam automatically launch the regular one

is it not possible because the copied files are not downpatched ? ( I want to run current patch so I'm not downpatching)

If you're using same version, why not just swap back and forth from vanilla?

Alternatively, I know people who use two different installs of current-patch using GOG's version on two different drives, and people who use Steam for one version and GOG for another.

Mods will only affect a save file if you open it with it. Your can always use File 1 for main game, File 4 for modded (or also use MoreSaves and keep all modded saves on extra pages)

Hey, got back into hollow knight and changed to the new mod installer because the old one didn't update itself. It updated my mods but I get a NET Framework Exception so the mod installer never actually launches. Is there some old NET Framework I need to install or something? I am able to play modded I just can't change anything since mod installer doesn't launch.

ModInstaller itself is just a single executable program. It doesn't install a program onto your computer, it just runs when you click it.
You'll want to move the exe to your Desktop

Also, there's a chance that rebooting your computer might fix the issue you're having with the installer. We're still not exactly sure why it is breaking for some people, but that recently fixed it for one person, and it hasn't been tried for others afaik.

hi for some reason shades and other enemies have more hp than they are supposed to, the shade fight looks more like a boss fight and enemies you take down with 10 hits get down in 30 hits. ill tell you the mods im using so you can identify it: Benchwarp, blackmoth, death counter, debug mod, infinite notches, modCCommon, modding API, and unnoficial hollow knight patch

i have a bad feeling its blackmoth but its too good of a mod for me to get rid off

blackmoth makes the nail much weaker on purpose so that you are incentivized to use the dash to deal damage

You're meant to dash through the shade to kill it

The ability to attack with nail is only there to interact with objects (breaking walls hitting levers)

The ModdingApi seems to have problems with some controllers(either 1. Crashing or other bugs if they are plugged in when launching the game, or 2. The controllers don’t work in hk until you remove mods

Downpatching is just downloading an old version of the game

So you either:
Have current patch already.
Deleted current patch and overwrote it with the old patch.

The downpatch guides cover how to have multiple installs.
