I downloaded the latest scarab, install custom knight and satchel, and I put in a few skins. I can get into the game and play it all just fine, but when I go to options ingame, no 'mods' button appears. Nothing has changed in my game even though I've downloaded everything. What do I do?

you can see how many you have without a mod - it's one of the stats listed in the inventory menu under the focus icon, along with things like dreamers & Mr mushroom levels

I've been trying to figure out how to use CustomKnight Creator, but I seem to have broken the entire thing somehow. I didn't realized that it needed a specific type of source folder instead of a generic skin folder like Custom Knight uses, and now it is giving me this error message every time I try to open the application, even after deleting and reinstalling it and restarting my computer. Basically, it wasn't programmed to know what to do when you give it the wrong data so instead of just not processing it it tries to process it and crashes...

I'm trying to install the 1.5 beta enemy randomizer mod for 1. I tried following the install directions in the pinned message and in the mod's readme, but neither seemed to work. I know it's still in development so it's possible it just doesn't work, but I thought I'd see if anyone had an answer

After installing, in order to actually use the mod
When the mod is correctly installed, you should see it at the top-left of your main menu, with the other mods you have installed.

If there is also some larger text that says "Load Enemy Randomizer", then press that button to randomize the enemies using the default settings (Note: you will need to wait a few minutes while this loads). If the button is not there, then go into Options > Mods, and Disable the mod, and then re-enable it. You will also need to close the game entirely, and re-open it.

No I was trying to use scarab with 1.5. I meant I'd be okay changing to 1.4 to use MI. Scarab just wouldn't open at all. I wouldn't even get an error message, the window was just blank grey and nothing would happen

I asked some people on here and they said to try using a vpn, disabling onedrive, moving scarab to different folders, disabling antivirus

Heyo guys I'm having some sort of problem with opening Scarab: after I download the zip file and extract it, no matter where, it just doesn't open. But I've just tried opening it without extracting it from the zip file and it does work in this way. Is there something I can do to extract it and still make it work, or do I have to open it from the zip every time?

How to fix Installer Errors
🔹 Make sure Hollow Knight is CLOSED.
🔹 Make sure that all 4 installer files have been Extracted from the .zip and that the new folder isn't in your Downloads folder. (Extract the 4 files to your desktop)
🔹 Right-click the installer file, and select "Run as Administrator".

I don't know if anyone can help me, but i did all the steps to installing the mods. i put HK on Ver 1.4. I downloaded the newest scarab for windows. unzipped the file and installed a few mods. But they weren't put inside of the game. (If it matters, i have windows 11, and downloaded HK on steam.)

You'd likely have to edit your save to fix it, but I'm not sure the value to look for.

Toggling a HOG statue is part of your save file. Since you left it toggled in the mod, but the vanilla game didn't have a toggle, you don't have a way to untoggle it.

Then it might be a scarab fuck up
So what you want to do is, first off verify the game files
It should disable mods, then install a mod, any mod and see what happens

That probably won’t do anything but you never know

Then you should try to manually delete the mods and then install them from scarab

And if none of that works reinstall scarab entirely

How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔹 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔹 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
🔸Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Alternate Method:
🔹 Click on your profile then "Settings"
🔹 Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
🔸 Copy the path bar, then run Scarab as Administrator and when it asks you for the path, paste what copied before.

Scarab path folder needs to have Hollow Knight_Data folder inside

Im trying to use Scarab on Ubuntu 22.04.1 to play mods on HK (using this link https://github.com/fifty-six/Scarab/tree/v1.19.0.0), but when I extracted the zip file and started Scarab, it only shows a black screen and it doesn't let me close it unless I kill it from the terminal (this happens no matter how I open it, be it on nautilus or on terminal with ./Scarab)

I've read some things on issues about avalonia having problems with fonts (and my system is on Spanish), so I installed ms fonts but nothing changed. I also changed my system language to english with no results whatsoever I also gave all permissions to the whole folder, but it keeps showing the black screen.

Alternatively, you can use custom knight to dump the sheets yourself. You just go to the area with the character/room you want to dump, and tell the mod to start dumping (its an option in the custom knight mod menu)

I've never skinned the dirtmouth npcs, but I assume its the same process as the enemy skins. You need the hash, then you just put it in global swap.

they are just programs

The things that matter are ModdingAPI, which the installers install into your game when you open them and install mods. If you install the incorrect ModdingAPI, your game will not open.

Does anyone know if this is a very serious error? I was downloading mods in skyrim on the nexus mod, during that hollow Knight and have a nice death were not opening and showing errors, I restarted the PC and it went back to normal, does anyone know if it's serious?

HKMP puts a copy of each player into each other players world. Enemies have separate health and can be in different places; items/abilities must be collected separately; breakable objects must be broken separately.

How to fix Installer Errors
🔹 Make sure Hollow Knight is CLOSED.
🔹 Make sure that all 4 installer files have been Extracted from the .zip and that the new folder isn't in your Downloads folder. (Extract the 4 files to your desktop)
🔹 Right-click the installer file, and select "Run as Administrator".
