hi so i have hollow knight on my mac and im finding it difficult to install mods. i tried to donwload the mod installer but it asked me to allow ossascript to make changes and that "bash" wants access to control "system events". after looking this up most sites told me to not allow bc those can be malware. what process do i have to go to install mods? im mainly only interested in using it for skins for now

Install the CustomKnight mod, in game go to options > mods > CustomKnight > open skins folder. Then place skin folders in there (these should contain png files with names such as knight.png and sprint.png)

Has anyone been having issues with certain transitions while mod API is running? Elevators, certain doorway transitions, and transition from godhome have started bugging out on me when playing modded.

By bugging out I mean either white screen or black screen though still able to 'swing nail' in the elevator transitions, but not loading the other area.

Modlist installed listed in images.

No mods have been out of date and Scarab is on current version, same with Hollow Knight install.
I deactivated all the mods and it was still occurring with the API active, but was not happening when API was deactivated completely.

I wanted to get back into modding so I watched fireborns video and as per his instructions updated to latest version/patch (I think he jsut said after 1.5), got Scarab, I got these mods for a start, I put the folders with the png's in the right places but when I launch the game I cant pause it neither with controller nor keyboard but I can go into inventory and esc works there. also the bottom left said something "main" something but odd and seemingly random symbols when I went into the main area of godhome
all the files' integrity are verified so idk whats wrong, did I do something wrong or do I need to downpatch to exactly 1.5 or something?

Here's the mod log from the most recent attempt. It is definitely still having problems with Elevators. I used the elevator next to City Storeroom Stag, the one that leads to left hand Forgotten Crossroads. Here is the Debug mod screen once it black screens. I can tell based on this screen that I can move around the location, but I cannot see anything and it does not open the menus even when I hit the menu buttons.

Help! I'm trying to mod Hollow Knight, but when I try to open the game after getting all the mods I want, the game pops up a hollow knight unity alert on my computer, then closes the application. did I do something wrong?

This glitch can happen for a number of reasons make sure that all the reasons listed listed below don't apply to you.

🔹 Your game patch doesn't match the installer you used.

  • Scarab is made for patch 1.5.78+
  • Modinstaller 1 & 2 are made for version 1.4.3.2
  • there aren't installers for other patches.

🔹 Something didn't install correctly

  • Run the installer as Administrator

In my randomizer save file I ran into a problem where when I enter certain rooms my screen just stays black with whatever back ground music should be playing. (Grim Troop and Lower tram for example) Yet other rooms load correctly like the shops. My rando doesn't have any room randos either. Screen isn't frozen as I can warp out and the game runs as normal. Amy Idea what could be causing this?

This is a known issue, and Custom Knight is not considered compatible with HP.

After installing, in order to actually use the mod
When the mod is correctly installed, you should see it at the top-left of your main menu, with the other mods you have installed.

If there is also some larger text that says "Load Enemy Randomizer", then press that button to randomize the enemies using the default settings (Note: you will need to wait a few minutes while this loads). If the button is not there, then go into Options > Mods, and Disable the mod, and then re-enable it. You will also need to close the game entirely, and re-open it.
