||it will take a bit to get used to, but you wanna mostly focus on using charms that help you with soul and spells. So shaman stone, soul catcher and spell twister are all great. Additionally quick focus is also an awesome option. For single notch grubsong and maybe steady body if you like it are good. Mark of pride or longnail can be very nice but also cost a lot of notches. Whether I recommend them or not depends on the image of your inventory||

recommend having ||shaman|| instead of ||qfocus||, otherwise that’s a literally perfect setup and my default build for most things. anyway for this boss the strat is let him do his attack uninterrupted then attack once. don’t get greedy for hits. ||quickslash|| isn’t very helpful for this one. since his ||nail|| is very long i’d recommend replacing it with ||mark of pride||. ||nail arts|| are also very useful for the second phase. if you still need more help then look up the boss blitz video on him. all of these tutorials are insanely helpful. it took me a LONG time to master him but i eventually was able to get the hang of it. i finally was able to beat him when i understood that you need to take it easy and don’t go super aggressive. let him complete his attack, then hit once, then stay away and repeat. good luck!

as mentioned by lily, ||pogo spam|| is very good, as ||it can't shoot (or roll) straight up at you, meaning only the tamer can hit you unless you get it to roll into the wall and bounce immediately||. something to note is that ||when it goes for a roll attack, the bounce after it hits the wall will target where you were when it started the bounce/hit the wall||
