Hi, I recently completed HK for the first time and decided to try speedrunning and I have managed to get the dream-nail after about 1 hour, (I know it is not the best), Howver I am not quite sure what to do or wich way is best to go, does anyone have some tips?

Consoles have their own section of SRC, since they use real time. Check out some of the ru s there, some save/quits aren't worth in real time but other than that and a few other small things they're not much different than current patch PC runs

I’m trying to make a new category and I’m trying to figure out a route. Basically I wanna go from abyss to hallownests crown without stags trams or big elevators but I’m not sure if it’s possible. I can’t think of any way to escape city without using either elevator. Is there a way?

Yeah that's pretty good for a first attempt, especially since the 5 hour guide is built differently than the optimized route slightly.

so i was practicing the stalking devout quick kill, and noticed sometimes I only take 1 damage instead of 2; does anyone know how to get this consistently? My best guess is that i'm accidentally parrying one of the hits

or is it that when i dash into the devout I take 1 damage and get I-frames instead of taking on their attack which does 2?

Yeah, it's a hard fight to do correctly - with that setup, if you mess up the 2-cycle you can still make the 3-cycle, with a margin of comfort as well

unfortunately no; theyre easily the hardest boss fight in the any% nmg run

the only real thing u can do to make the fifht easier other than practice is to get more equipment

theres fire's 5-hour achievement guide, and that route has a relatively nice watcher knights fight

theres also a route that gets shade soul, which makes the fight significantly easier as well

At a certain point you'll want/need to learn things that need more focused practice. And unless you literally want to waste time, debug is the way to do that. Fireball skips for example are much easier to learn with infinite soul rather than farming birds or something between each attempt. Something like TE shade skip much faster to learn with a savestate rather than repeatedly having to die again if you miss it.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the server and I hope this is the right place to ask this question: I'm trying to get into speedrunning, but I heard that the game should be run at high FPS to work well, however when I cycle through the resolutions in game none of them goes over 60FPS. I know that my laptop monitor's maximum refresh rate is 60Hz, but it seems strange to me that I can't go over 60FPS even at resolutions like 720p, given that I can run other games at high FPS (e.g. league of legends runs at 200FPS). Is there a way to bypass the in-game resolution setting, and force higher framerates? I already turned off V-Sync of course

the hz setting in video settings doesn't mean anything if you've turned off vsync

if your fps readings are still stuck at 60 when vsync is off, then something else is locking it, or your pc can't do better than 60

Most of the livesplit tutorials won't necessarily apply to a switch run, as you cannot use thee loadless timer/autsplitter. to record your switch you'll need a capture card if you want to do it with your PC.

I did the walking-through-a-door animation in the middle of CoT and ended up in her room despite being a good distance away from the door

Hey guys. Trying to get into speedrunning this game and I have maybe a stupid question... I play on steam and on controller, and most often when I pause, I am unable to unpause with the start button. The mouse cursor appears on my screen highlighting the middle "Game Options" option. To unpause, I either have to press up and A, or B (not a huge problem, just annoying as I am used to continuing to mash the pause button)

Anyone able to help me out on what I'm doing wrong/how to fix this issue?

I honestly don't think I'm sufficiently experienced with WCS to properly answer the question - I know the TLDR is that the precise movement at the start of the room set it up, but if you want a more detailed answer you should join the speedrunning server (in the pins) and probably ask in #any-percent

idk if this is good progress or not im new to speedrunning

can someone tell me if this is a good pace so far? im 1hr into my first attempt to get ||the three non steel soul|| speedrunning achievements and im at 13%
so far ive:
-gotten all the geo rocks i can remember in crossroads and greenpath
-pretty much completed both the above areas, heading into fog canyon
-killed broodling mawlek, false knight, gruz mother, and hornet in greenpath
-got 6 charms and 4 of the mask shards

again im new to speed running and since this is my first attempt at this i dont have any other runs to compare this too, so idk

Did you know that if you pick up a charm notch at 1 health while using Fury, you get healed to full while keeping Fury's damage buff? (You lose it as soon as you get hit though)
