For epogo, theres two spots you can stand that line up the exp perfectly every time but its slightly slower than doing fireball method

i was doing the barnak platforming room above fast travel, and i slashed to get out of one of them, and accidentally duplicated hornet's sprite

then i got eaten and teleported to the upper barnak

Hopefully this helps a little but i had to draw it on my phone. The bottom is basically the arrangements of the background mushrooms. The teal rectangle is the breakable mushroom. You stand on spot 1 until the explosive passes the top ledge, then stand on the breakable mushroom to be the right distance for the pogo. From there youre just timing your jump properly

As for the dark room, i just run all the way to the right until i hit a wall, then without walking, big jump left twice

Its slower than just counting steps but i have more timeloss elsewhere

it's very easy to do that way and the hard part is just timing it so you're at the peak of your jump when it explodes

if you line up with the mushrooms correctly, you won't have to move sideways until after the pogo (you just dash left) so there's no reason you should get hit doing that either

Generally no mods are allowed, not even the API can be installed, with very limited exceptions - you can see specific rules/allowance for each category on SRC. OBS is a common program used for recording gameplay, either while streaming or locally.

Checking the wiki you just shared, I don't see cases where ignoring an upgrade is benefitial like in HK (other than doing pogos, obviously)

It just makes the scaling far less significant (so 5 * 1.75 deals close to 9 damage and 9 * 1.2 deals close to 12, which is less impactful than a 5 to 9 increase)

U didn't get it. It's not that they have the same skill, it's that the hrs have nothing to say about their skill at all. Like it could be that the "slower" player has more skill and it could be the other way around.

If before starting to play the 2 players agreed to race for the first finish then that is a different story. But the objective of most first play throughs is NOT to be fast.

the reason people take much longer is probably because they don’t know how to explore efficiently, take longer on hard bosses and areas and deaths and may not be as good at platformers. a person is more skilled if they’re able to explore faster, do the bosses easier etc. they have more skill than the other player because they find all this easier and can do it more efficiently

hello, first time ever for me writing in a game related discord.. im wondering about an event that happened in my playthrough while fighting seth.. he was about to teleport away and i harpuned his position, just the frame/second/moment after he disappeared, the harpune hitted.. i assumed he wanted to change into phase two, but the fight was just completed and i was able to proceed, what kinda felt odd to me... so i watched a seth fight on youtube and saw that he had a second phase, that i just skipped that way... is this already known? i couldnt find something in the internet, so thats why im asking here

You just rush king's pass, dirthmouth, (so without picking up anything or talking to anyone), get vengeful spirit (fireball) in crossroads still. then you go to greenpath, do a simple skip there (every speedrun does that, just search "greenpath skip" on yt it should pop up), beat hornet and get dash (you also want to get some geo). You save quit out to mound in crossroads and then you go to fugnal wastes, drop down the big room with all the acid --> go right --> down --> left --> down left, until you reach mantis village and you just grab claw (wall jump). then you wanna save and quit and load back in to the bench in mound (in crossroads again). after you did allat you can get the crossroads stag, and go to salubra to get shaman stone (save sly too) Now one skip that you need to do for a sub 1 hour at least, you want to go to blue lake, trough the entrance above salubra's shop. the skip is kinda hard to pull off but it just takes some practice (ask for how you do it, i got a vid of it for u) after you get to the other side of blue lake, you get dream nail. after that you drop down into city of tears, get the relics that u get on the way to kings station. (one in the room above kings station room, and one at kings station stag). go left into the room with the gorgeus husk and get her geo. now for my kinda little change in the route. you bench at kings station (do this when you grab the relic there) ---> go all the way left to rafters, get the relic on top of all rafters ---> go further left to the nailsmith and get the nail upgrade. now you want to save quit out and load back to kings station. from here the normal route continues ---> you go to the spire, pogo off a background object to get to the watcher knights and fight them. for your first couple of playtroughs, id recommend benching at the bench that is the closest to WK (watcher knights). After you beat WK, you simply get lurien. Now you want to go left, down, until you find lemm (part 2 coming dw)

If you want something easier to start with use a shade soul or descending dark route

you sell your relics, go back to kings station (buy the stag now) and stag to dirthmouth, buy the lumafly lantern at sly's shop and you want to stag to the crossroads stag, go into crystal peak, climb the peak until you get to the top --> go to the right and down --> get c(rystal) dash and save quit and load back in to dirthmouth again. now you want to drop down in the room in crossroads with all the platforms, go to the bottom ---> enter next room at the bottom and go to the left bottom entrance where you do a acid skip (shouldnt take too long to practice, just get the timing right.) --> head down into fog canyon and get to the archives. here you fight uumuu (take it slow here), get monomon and leave the archives. now head down to queens station and go to the top right entrance to enter fugnal wastes again. in fugnal wastes you keep going down and left until you get to a breakable wall, break it and get into deepnest. in deepnest you just wanna go all the way to the left and enter distant village. (be careful, falling here costs you alot of time) --> get into beast's den, sit at the bench and go trough beast's den (alot of strong bugs here, take ur time). ---> get herrah and take the distant village stag to dirthmouth. now you can fight THK and finish the game
