Current ComSob for fury route is 29:10, but there could always be some crazy skip fight or new strat for a boss that saves more time

For VS route the ComSob is 29:51 btw

And I highly doubt that will be lowered much more

But that is also just ComSobs and is extremely unlikely to happen in a single run, so a sub 30min might and probably won’t ever happen. But a 30:3x or 30:2x yeah that could be on the cards in the future

It also depends on what a lot of the top runners decide to do after silksong releases ofc

rng manip in hk is possible for TAS only because they set the specific start time and framerate, which are things that will fluctuate on a normal playthrough. And even then TAS's have to experiment to find the rng they want cause it's all dependant on the previous inputs
So it's never going to be a thing for humans

it should be faster (the matoclip), and i think to get yesclip in that case, you just mms, create a new savefile, press godseeker file once and then press normal (or steelsoul if you want) savefile, it can be done several times if you want

Basically PC runners have access to LiveSplit, which allows to track the run time removing load times from rooms

well one thing that u can do is set ur max hp to 5 using debug so that u only need to take one hit to get to fury. also if u get lucky enough u can keep shrieking the entire time in the pufferfish attack and kill him while hes still in the first pufferfish attack

I'm retrying to speedrun Hollow Knight Any% NMG, i'm kinda bad, my PB is around 1h15m38s without loadings time. But i know i can improve it a lot (like with the benchs teleportations method)
So, i seen some runs of other speedrunners, and they mostly plays with mouse / keyboard instead of controller. There are a really advantage to play with mouse / keyboard instead of controller ? Because i only played with this for moment, and it's kinda hard for me to play at HK without controller

Play whatever you are most comfortable

Keyboard is maybe slightly better than controller but if you are better at controller already then switching to keyboard will do nothing than harm your progress and make you relearn the game

The input device hardly matters at all and switching is not worth it

Yeah the game language set to Chinese is what saves dialogue time (least chars to load among languages). That said, rather than focusing on the detail you'll want to see what you struggle most with to save bigger time chunks.

That requires a pretty tough acid skip, but if that proves complicated, you can still ignore Mantis Lords by entering from where Spore Shroom is and it's gonna be faster (though slower than QG)

What's the best way to practice the Hollow Knight fight for a speedrun? I attempted it once back in like 2022 just for the SR2 achievement and I was able to get to the black egg in just shy of 2hrs but being inexperienced with fighting HK without full resources wound up costing me another ninety minutes

Probably the best way is to just do a whole speedrun so that u have a save at black egg with the gear that u would have, then u can continually use that save to practice thk

There is not unfortunately. I still have my first SR save but part of the time loss came from me caving and backtracking to get cloak for the air jump lmao.

bench at forgotten crossroads stag
kill gruz mother
save sly and then die
itemless blue lake shade skip
elevator to city right side and bench at king station (kill like every enemy along the way to get some geo)
gorgeous husk (need enemy pogo to get out of kings station)
rafters seal (need a enemy pogo to get to the left transition in the huge room to the left of kings station)
sell at lemm, save and quit to warp back to king station bench, buy kings station
stag to dirtmouth, buy simple key, stag back to kings station
enter waterways with simple key (need to do the same enemy pogo in the city of tears big room)
get to cornifer room (involves enemy pogoing)
die in the hwurmp arena to set up shade skip
traverse all the way back to cornifer room with the same route
beat the hwurmp arena while keeping the shade alive
shade skip up to the lever to open up the gate to enter fungal wastes

and to get to claw from there:
bench at bretta bench (for safety reasons and helpful if doing the shade skip)
traverse to epogo room and either do itemless epogo or die to setup a shade skip as an alternative to the epogo
proceed to mantis village from there, flick the lever, itemless mantis pogo, and pick up claw

I've never speedran before, but I wanna try something random and fun. I made up my own category called horet%, where I just beat the first hornet as fast as possible. I know fireball/squit skip, I know shaman skip, I know that false knight is optional, but I think that's about it

I was wondering how to skip the opening cutscenes faster, and how to inventory drop, as well as other things that might shave down my time

If you use LiveSplit, opening cutscenes won't count for your timer as it starts when you start falling on KP. As for Inventory Drops, the proper way to do it is by downpatching to 1.2.2.1 - if doing it on a casual way and have no intent of uploading to a leaderboard, you can use the QOL mod instead as it allows inventory drops and doesn't require you to play in Chinese for optimal times

Hi, today I've planned a run made to save Myla (that may be the only run I've never done so far I guess :/) and as there is a dialogue change with myla as soon as you take vengeful spirit or skip to its upgrade, I planned out everything to not include vengeful spirit. Problem is, I can't seem to go to greenpath on current patch using the long nail strat, is it still doable on current patch or do I need to downpatch ?

it is possible but tbh myla doesnt show signs of infection until dive or cdash, so vengeful spirit should be fine if u just want to save her from infection

What you'd need is to clear the game without Dive or Crystal Heart. You'd need to perform some reasonably tough skips but it's doable on current patch.

Charms are not an option; they'd slow down the speed run too much, I need some good strate

You want to use fireballs in a way that doesn't prevent you from keep slashing and also potentially hit her twice. Play very aggresive and keep in mind she always does a jump after a stagger so that's a window to keep pummeling

Charm wise I'd say you technically can use Soul Catcher

But charmless is faster I'm pretty sure since you get to skip the animation of the first charm pickup

Hornet usually gets knocked back after a Fireball, so if using it too far away, you'll have to walk towards her before you can keep dishing damage.

That same knockback is the reason she may be hit twice with the same cast, but how to align for it is harder to explain. That's likely easy to learn with practice and watching the top runner strats

Ok so am I correct in saying that the only way to get her hit twice with the same fireball is if she gets staggered with the first hit so that she gets knocked back more? How many hits does it take to stagger(PS5 version)?

Practice until you're less bad. There's not really any secret or shortcut to success. (If you want specific pointers you're going to say what strats you're struggling with, potentiallywith video examples for peopleto critique)

Metronome helps. Also do use Infinite HP to practice as you can fail and retry a lot faster that way

It varies a lot if using LP and there are quite a few ways to do it, but the idea is to airstall while luring the sporg as close to the transition as you can, pogo and dash.

Airstalling can be done with Dash + N fireballs and there's multiple ways to do it

I've done just about everything in Hollow Knight and decided I wanted to be a multi millionaire so I wanted to see how fast I could do this geo route in City of Tears.

The challenge begins when I leave the bench and timing stops when I get back on it. Fragile/Unbreakable Greed is mandatory and I must collect nearly all the geo from all the enemies killed in the video (it would be against the spirit of the challenge to kill all enemies in a room and leave what's been dropped, e.g. enter gorgeous husk room, cast a fireball, and leave immediately) I'm thinking the limit for what can be left behind is 4 geo total

How can this be further optimized?

i got 11 min 56 sec on a category i made up where the clock starts on first input after cutscenes, and ends after finishing blow on first hornet. I call it hornet%. all glitches are allowed.

I mean even without major glitches u can easily cut that down to like <7 mins loadless time with an ibaldur route. And with all glitches I won’t even really speculate since I’m not an expert on glitches but with things like main menu storage available it can really speed things up
