The main thing to get from there now is the pastas

I get sad when I see others get angry at Uumuu. Sad, because I know that they’re actually angry at themselves, for having terrible Watcher Knight and Hollow Knight fights. Because Uumuu is so easy to optimize, they take their anger out on him, becoming more and more insecure and never addressing their own personal problems. I just wish more people understood that RNG doesn’t ruin runs: speedrunners ruin runs.

I was doing p5 and I finished the fight and I just started jumping around randomly. As the game faded to white I jumped into the far right edge of the spikes on the right side of the arena, and I just went straight through them somehow. Didn’t capture it on video unfortunately :/

Steam has an achievement guide and the speedrun guide is pretty solid for both the 10 hour and 5 hour speedrun achievements. Very friendly to new speedrunners and teachers and explores a few skips. My time was 2 hours 50 minutes 30 seconds just because I overprepared and got an extra nail upgrade

If you have a route beforehand where you get strong enough gear to be confident you will first or secound try the bosses then it's a breeze.

If you have no idea where your going half the time and keep chain dying to bosses then it's hard.

The guide is really good but I would reccomend trying to make a route for yourself as it is quite fun.

Easiest is subjective. Generslky its considered that any% has harder bosses while all skills has harder movement, so it depends what you want. I would say overall NMG categories are easier than glitches. There are also tons of meme categories. Watch some vids of runs & see what interests you. And as isnialan said join the server in pins

ok, quick question. So for the last week of the month I wanted to stream myself start to finish on learning how to speedrun hollow knight. And i was wondering if something like that is even possible.

My first goal was the 5 hour achievement and I got a 4h something time, my next run was sub 2, the next knocked off like 20 minutes

When starting to learn a run it's important to do the worst run of your life first, then improve from there

I would say a good goal for your first week would be sub 3 hours which was the old speedrun achivement

Depending on how much you practice and how good your base is I could also see sub 2 hour and sub 1:30 all in the first 1-2 weeks

And what route you use

If you just want to see how low you can push it in a week then I would advice down patching to 1221, setting up livesplit and doing shadesoul route.

Also skippig qga and going trough deepnest because I doubt you'll be consistent at it within a week

But i found a loophole to bypass the distance so you can increase your attack speed overall

If you equip longnail, mark of pride, quickslash and grubberfly's elegy you get an overpowered combination even if you need to overcarm to get it

So essentially the distance provided by mark of pride and longnail is longer than the range in wich attack speed is decreased so it becomes possible to hit for example 3 times in the opening in the mantis lords instead of only 2

grubberflies is really bad because it does way less damage than your nail does, and if you're close enough to hit the enemy anyway then its going to be in iframes when the projectile reaches it and it wont take damage

hi everyone, I’m working on any% and having a hard time with QGA, apologies if this is a really common question but when you dash into the wall (on PC) you start to slide down for a few frames before you can C dash, is there a way to cancel that slide so I don’t go into the acid?

Not really, the main way to "avoid" it is to dash into the wall lower down so you can "buffer" a cdash input

or go through deepnest to avoid qga completely

or run glitched and room dupe past it
