Totally makes sense, I've been playing Rust for a while and I've seen suspicious accounts come in many different forms. Just odd my account only has 300 hours, skins I bought with my own money, etc. was flagged as a suspicious account but I understand. I'm just hoping for a bit of clarity from the admin that reviewed my appeal so I could hopefully fix whatever was considered "suspicious" or clear up the discrepancy.

That doesn’t seem very efficient to me. I’m an outsider, of course, so I don’t know exactly how you guys review ban appeals. But you said that the ban appeal team - which consists of only three people, and it seems none of them are online (which honestly feels too few for hundreds of reports) - are reviewing the appeals strictly in order, with no exceptions. Taking into account that you mentioned around 50% of the appeals are legitimate and the other 50% are illegitimate (from guilty players), it leads me to the mathematical conclusion that there are quite a few unjust bans being made, and those people are facing serious delays when it comes to getting their appeals reviewed. Since everything is processed in order, the legitimate ones get stuck behind the fake ones.
Just trying to help here: couldn’t (and shouldn’t) that be improved at least a little by identifying the key differences between legitimate and illegitimate appeals? I’m aware that I don’t know if this has already been done, but it doesn’t seem like it has. My appeal isn’t even for me, it’s for a friend who was banned for “ban evading", even though he’s never been banned before. So that reason makes no sense when taken literally. Wouldn’t that kind of case be faster to review than most of the others, especially the fake ones?

Everyone has the right to have their ban appeal reviewed. I'm 100% against any form of cheating or rule breaking to gain competitive edge or to ruin other's experience, but nonetheless are all appeals important. I get where you're coming from but there are lots of other people who also say they haven't done anything wrong and they have to wait too. To ensure everyone gets equal and fair treatment, patience is needed.

Yes, everyone has the right to have their ban appeal reviewed. However, the issue I raised is not about that, but rather about how slow the review system is and how it could likely be optimized to mitigate widespread damage.

I don’t think all ban appeals necessarily deserve the same level of "importance". If it were possible to know from the start that a particular ban appeal is false, it certainly shouldn't be given much "importance", but I get the point that it's pretty much impossible to know. But the problem with treating everyone equally in this way is that players who were unfairly punished end up suffering just as much as those who deserved to be punished, which is unfair though not necessarily the staff’s fault. It’s a kind of injustice that, at first glance, seems unavoidable and hard to fix.

That said, this is one way to handle appeals in a justice system: you can either treat everyone equally to create a sense of fairness where all are subject to the same clear objective rule, or you can apply a harm mitigation system where the administration prioritizes appeals that are more likely to be legitimate or quicker to resolve, ahead of those likely to be false.
The downside is that the criteria for prioritizing appeals can become arbitrary or highly subjective, but if done correctly, it could definitely reduce more harm (fewer legitimate players that got unjustly punished waiting) than the current system, albeit at the unfortunate cost of delaying some other legitimate appeals in favor of this “greater good". Since this is a game’s justice system and there are very few ban appeal reviewers, I believe it is entirely justifiable to prioritize the review of certain ban appeals based on their higher likelihood of legitimacy, even to help mitigate damage to the server’s reputation. But that’s just my opinion.

I hear you, totally. I really wish that all of the appeals and tickets would be resolved instantly, but that is simply not possible. A lot of people making bestrust possible are not getting paid, everyone has to make ends mean for themselves and have personal time. The appeals team being small too plays a role, as not many of us would even be qualified to determine about unbans/bans. You can always make suggestions for improvements in discord or the servers, all feedback is appreciated. I hope your appeal ticket is reviewed soon and the result will be satisfying. That is a pretty hard question to estimate to be honest ... As long as you have nothing updating and using excess data, no open YouTube videos and things like that, the communication of your game to the game servers shouldn't be too much data

The issue comes if a game of yours begins updating, like the rust update that I believe is dropping today or an OS update. THAT is what will destroy your data

My suggestion is turn on your mobile data after making sure nothing's going to update or run in the background play for 5 to 10 minutes and then turn it off.

You should then be able to go into your phone settings and see how much data has been used by your hotspot and then that should give you some idea of what you're going to be looking at for multiple hours.

But at the end of the day if something does happen and something does spike your data most cell phone companies aren't going to do much for you on that so just be careful :).
