Team UI in streamermode will show your friends name if you have manually change their Nickname on steam, so for example if I change my name all time, you Edit my Nickname on steam SkylineGTST, if will always show in team UI as SkylineGTST, even if I change my steam name as friend

and you could always get Battlemetric Premium and then even if they have your steam account, they won't find you

I've found out that the player who turned out to be cheating who joined our team was a creepy guy who had stream stalked me 3 weeks ago. Found me watching my stream but acted like it was random. Invited me to his team with the purpose of then cheating to get me banned on stream. Banned 4 different discords and 3 steam accounts that kept msging me afterwards. Now he msged me saying the guy who just got banned sent him a video I needed to watch showing him insiding me. I was too creeped out to even watch it and he deleted it right after.

This almost a month long situation of this guy following me around on servers, using voice changers, and trying to befriend me.

Just so upsetting and I don't think there's anything I can do but kill everyone on site and only talk to my teammates. Sucks. I enjoy the enemy, ally, frenemy dynamics that develope in this game.

Any other tips for safety in this game?

Yeah I have already. I understand if they want to let the ban ride out the 7 days though. This crap is hard to wrap your head around and I'm just now starting to.

I was streaming probably 4-6 hours a day the first week I started playing rust but I had to cut back and onlys tream when I was on creative servers due to snippers. I've since learned a bunch of tricks but it's been a rough road.

Issue is this guy (the first version of him we've met, he's creating multiple personas and been messing with us for weeks now but always acts like just a friendly random at first) admitted to cheating/being a professional at it after he got banned/us with him (denied it when we had asked him up front. This was on Reddit Rust. We had gone back and forth about if he was or wasn't the first time it happened and ultimately banned him and moved towards no-contact despite all his attempts to continue contact. He was super friendly and charismatic, smooth talking, a bit of gaslighting too. He's in this server now reading everything I'm saying about him to and I don't care). But he'd play for 24-32 hours at a time and become more weird as the hours would go on.

Even if my ban gets appealed I plan to give Rust a break and then come back to it with as much security lockdowns as possible. I can see this recent random-we let play with us made his discord account the same day he met us in game---which is as huge red flag I missed and further reinforces my belief that he's the same guy who's been just trying to befriend/inside us/get us banned thrice now over a month.

I'm mostly just venting but thank you guys for letting me do so. I didn't realize just how nefarious a minor population in this game could be. overall I've found the playerbase to be rather great--even those who raid/kill me are pretty sportsmanlike about it. Hello. I've submitted a ticket/ban appeal (I'm more concerned about the subject matter of the association than actually getting my ban appealed). It's been about a day though I understand it can take several.

I'm hoping that someone pretty high on the admin chain will be involved in reviewing it as I want to ensure the all steps that can be taken are taken to keep the player from returning to the rustoria servers. I'm not sure how effective bans are/alt-account detection is/etc. or if I'm better off finding a new server for my safety.

One question I did have - if someone was found to be hacking/cheating, is their first ban 30-days or perm?

I know that might not be a question that can be answered probably but figured I'd ask anyways.

I know this player in question has a history of buying steam accounts, but a friend told me servers generally block hardware IDs which stop most people from gettign around bans that way.

According to TOS of Rustoria, a game ban is permanent ban here. I don’t think there’s a full year limit for bans.

But someone may quote me on that.

Bans are pretty serious here. And with past experience with running servers and admining its kinda one and done unless the ban is severely old like 1000 days plus.

Excellent. I just don't want to get invested in another wipe for this to happen all over again (for the third time now from the same player). They've followed me between three servers now with three different fake personas, playing nice with voicechangers with my team/me until eventually getting added. Instead of changing servers again (and I guess buying battlemetrics privacy pass thing), it might just be smarter to stick to a server they are already banned on. After the first incident with this player they began to brag about their cheating prowess before we completely blocked/cut ties with them (over a dozen different discord/steam accounts that tried to act like different people). I didn't realize just how profoundly dedicated this person was. I know of at least two of their alts in this discord now that I'm sure are reading this but I'm not going to let them intimiate me anymore into just hoping if I leave things alone they'll leave me alone.

This process is fully automated and staff members are not able to change the slots!
Though the slots are dynamic, there will always be a hard limit to guarantee the best performance as well as the overall user experience.
Our Long or Medium servers will not get their slots increased to match our Main servers as that would not meet the expectations of a Long or Medium server.
