For the 🇪🇺 server: 1PM UK / 2PM CEST / 8AM EST

RUSTORIA CHRISTMAS UPDATE, CHANGES LISTED BELOW (LOTS OF THEM)

- Ore spawns are now balanced, they spawn everywhere now and not just near rocks (like 2016-2017 Rust)
- Added new base upgrade / base repair system. Accessible via the "base upgrade" button whilst inside of your TC. You can upgrade your base to higher grades (wood, stone, metal, hqm) and also repair your base to full health if it's damaged!
- You now get app (Rust+) notifications when getting raided and all members are offline.
- Enabled Scientist movement on ALL servers
- Buffed scientist loot on ALL servers
- /autolock now automatically locks the codelocks. (donator only)
- HV rockets now do significantly less damage to players.
- /outpost and bandit respawn option added to the 5x No BPs servers.
- You now get 3 EXTRA points per hour if you play the first 3 hours of the server wipes!
- You now get 2 EXTRA raffle entries per hour if you play the first 3 hours of the server wipes!
- Removed supply signals from vending machines for balancing concerns
- Added food to /shop
- /home list now displays grid co-ordinates
- /homes is now an alias of /home list
- You no longer get combat blocked in safe zones
- Buffed donator kits by 20%-25% on 10x servers.

If you’re located outside of the US and are trying to connect to US Main, we hear you and we’re working hard on it right now to resolve it. We hope it’ll be no longer than 30 minutes but you never know with this type of work.

Edit: A temporary solution would be using a US hosted VPN.

Edit 2: We’ve restored connectivity for players outside of the US.

We're assessing our options with the network attack situation, please bare with us. We have tried 2 of the best hosts (GMC + OVH) for DDOS protection so far and none have been able to withstand this attack thus far. We're awaiting contact from some alternative network providers. No further rollbacks will be made, we apologise for these issues and all VIPs will be extended for this server by 7 days.

It looks like one of the OVH datacenters we utilise for 3x EU & RTG EU (OVH Strasbourg) has some major downtime. Lots of communities also using this datacenter for their servers are having these issues too. OVH are aware and are on the case.

An update from OVH issue tracker

We are currently facing a major incident in our Strasbourg datacentre, with a fire declared in the SBG2 building.
Firefighters intervened immediately on the spot but were unable to control the SBG2 fire.
As a precautionary measure, the electricity was cut off on the whole site, which impacts all our services at SBG1, SBG2, SBG3 and SBG4.
If your production is in Strasbourg, we recommend that you activate your Business Recovery Plan.
All our teams are mobilized alongside the firefighters.
We will keep you posted on this as soon as we have more information.

Our servers were in SBG2 as well! So the server is legit destroyed.

Waiting to be able to order another one from an alternative OVH FR Datacentre but it looks like their ordering system is down due to the issues as well.

In other news, the scheduled maintenance I'm replying to here has been rescheduled to tomorrow instead... again. This is due to under staffing at the datacentre due to COVID.

Update on the above due to it now being my expected resolve deadline, the OVH backend is experiencing large outages right now, likely due to the large migration of their infrastructure from the affected facility.

I'm trying to perform simple control panel actions and their site is erroring. Trying again every few minutes to see if it resolves in that time. I'll make a follow up post once the servers are online.

Due to the latest backup sampled from 3x EU being over 24 hours ago, we've decided to re-wipe this server. The rollback would have essentially been a wipe anyway so I apologise for the inconvenience.

The network for EU Main, EU Long & 10x EU has now been restored. We sincerely apologise for the prolonged maintenance window, our network provider ran into some unforeseen issues.

Due to this the upgrades were annoyingly not able to be applied at this time. That being said the network provider in question (GMC) is testing and tweaking via a backup circuit whenever they can get that situated in London. This will not have any adverse affects on our network during testing and is purely there as a staging environment to ensure a smooth roll out of the upgrades in due course.

We have also noticed that the recent Rust update is using a hell of a lot more RAM since the Train update. As a result the machine US Medium is making use of, is running extremely low since it's only a 16GB machine.

Just like the above, we're taking these precautions seriously and are scheduling in a RAM upgrade to be done before this Tuesday if all goes to plan.

With the HDRP update thats coming out later today maps lost a got bit of landmass. And generally have a lot more Islands. Therefore we will increase all map sizes by 250

US Main is now booting back up. We are incredibly sorry for these issues.

Due to the network issues resulting in over 520 players getting kicked and the remaining 80 being fine. I took the decision to shut the server down and roll it back 3 minutes to the point where the issues began. This means that there should not be any imbalance from the issues that occurred. I hope you can understand my decision!

These things are not an instant fix, no matter how much money you chuck at the problem.

Network attacks are a cat and mouse game always. We patch attacks, upgrade capacity, but then all of a sudden someone with a new attack comes along and ruins our day. But what do we do? Patch. Upgrade. Repeat.

We're going through the dark part of the storm, but it shall pass. All we ask is for your patience while we work hard to address these attacks.

Changes are as follows:

If you have more than 3 gamebans above our threshold (180 days) you'll be banned.
Walling off outpost is no longer permitted. If you're found to do this, the walls involved will be removed without compensation.

Again, these rules will come into effect on 5th August.

Update regarding this, the host we're using (https://tempest.net) has had their Equinix datacenters power source cut for required maintenance from Equinix. It seems that the redundant power is also malfunctioning.

Servers will be back the moment the maintenance concludes and power is restored. There will be a rollback for 10x US.

This force wipe, we’re launching 2 EXCLUSIVELY HOSTED Gravis Island servers (EU + US). These will be a 2x Vanilla, wiping on Mondays. Gravis Island is the map that won the Facepunch map competition, and the only community who’s hosting it is RUSTORIA! This week, we present you the BIGGEST UPDATE to our Modded servers for a long long time. For too long now, we've not put much attention into these servers.

10x No BPs, 5x No BPs & Zeus 5x will be getting some TLC and a refresher on their wipes this week!

Changes:

[10x No BPs]
- Mass purchasing for Vending machines with Scrap or Shop Points. https://files.rustoria.co/ryan/45e66bc3-037d-459e-b302-731d6b7c5525.mp4
- Unlocked skinbox for FREE for EVERYBODY
- Unlocked automatic locks on doors for FREE for EVERYBODY
- Unlocked /bgrade 1-4 for FREE for EVERYBODY
- Added a kit components for ALL players, containing all components you need to start a wipe!
- You can now purchase vehicle airdrops (airdrops that drop helis & boats) from the shop.
- You will now spawn with salvaged tools
- Red circles have been added to the in game map for you to see where ongoing raids are happening!
- Group limit increased to 6 (from 5)
- BUFFED the /kit steam and /kit discord kits

[5x No BPs]
- You can now purchase vehicle airdrops (airdrops that drop helis & boats) from the shop.

[Zeus 5x]
- Group limit decreased to 6 (from 8)
- If you click "learn" on a BP you already have, it converts it into the item.

[10x No BPs / 5x No BPs / Zeus 5x]
- We've adjusted the /kit starter on the servers to add more resources as this was lacking prior to now.
- The loot tables of the server have been buffed, and items that were missing prior are now there. Such as MLRS rockets.
- The Bradley / Heli crates received additional items and are now more worth fighting for.
- We've adjusted the loot table of the underwater crates to make them more worthwhile going for. So time to get your submarine!
- You can now access the base upgrade UI with /baseupgrade
- You can no longer redeem kits while wounded
- Boats and Helicopters that spawn randomly now have fuel in them

FAQ about this situation

Don’t you have other people who can rewipe?
No, the other people [who can rewipe] just so happen to also be not home, or in another country all together as its the holidays. Again, I’m not taking this situation lightly and I will be making sure we have more levels of redundancy for the future. Please understand it’s not something I’m happy with either, I strive to provide an amazing fun experience for all our players. It kills me that I’m not near a PC at the moment to rectify this situation for you guys.

Why did you make helis spawn on roads on EU Small
Because we wanted to still allow players to get core items of the game. It’s the best of the worse outcome I’m afraid. I hope you can accept this compromise for this terrible situation.

But my VIP is going to waste for YOUR FAULT
I will be extending all active VIPs for all EU servers [EU Main, EU Medium & EU Small] affected by these issues by 7 days for the troubles.

Today, and yesterday, Rustoria has dealt with huge and specialised attacks against our network. Over the course of the last 24 hours, we have been hard at work patching and securing Rustoria even further.

We already have amazing DDOS protection, however attackers always find new attack types to hit us with. The attack we have dealt with lately, was a new attack type getting around our filters.

We have since PATCHED IT. These attackers will unfortunately never give up, they are children. They are attacking us right now, but you don't feel it as we have patched it.

We're ready for more attacks now, and in the future. Always have been, always will be. I thank you all for bearing with us for the ups and downs. But Rustoria = W, Attacker = L. As always.

US Long is coming back online now. AI (Animals, Scientists, Tunnel Dwellers etc) will be disabled, they are still spawning but will no longer be moving/shooting for now as thats the reason for the frequent server freezes.

So despite our vigorous testing with the hardware over the last few weeks, the hardware has crashed all of a sudden upon booting up the server. Our host has notified the datacenter to power the machine back on. It's completely out of the hands of us now and in the hands of our host and their datacenter. We are hoping for a quick and urgent resolution, everyone involved is aware of the priority at stake here.

Just to clear up some confusion, there will be NO rollback, we will be patching the existing save file. Its not an issue related to our servers, its a bug with Facepunch's server build & will be working with them to find a permanent solution
