And Reeves already said they aren't doing joker for the sequels yet.
Yay
like dude did you not at all see and feel his immense guilt over what happened
he didnt WANT to kill people
He was never going to become a supervillain
We can see that guilt especially clearly during Puddles testimony.
Yeah but thats the criticism
They added all that in the second movie
Which detracted from his arc from the first movie
"I was scared, but now I murder people and its liberating" Meant to be some dark twisted version of self actualization
He was never meant to be a superstar in the first film either
autocomplete what
i meant supervillain lol
Box office has nothing to do with this lol
this is just a fundamental misunderstanding of the film
Its got a low critic and audience man, idk what to tell you
Box office flop also vindicates it all
Its an ok film were it on its own but its a horrible Joker movie
Not what people asked or wanted, surprises are nice but this aint one of em

Atleast he got to diddle Joker
Oh shut the fuck up
The movie ainât that bad
Everyone is just hopping on the hate train for no reason
Fr. Thatâs a privilege
Its not bad its actally good
its the ending that needs tweaking
i hope a director cut could come out futurre
with a rehashed ending
Make arthur the one who cuts his own face
and eventually become the joker
The hallway scene could be a flash back
Since that guy never has speaking lines till the end
just retcon it
Could be the "joker"
and the joker finally wins
and becomes arthur
I mean arthur finally died and became the real koker
joker*
Look around, look at all these people. I will no longer allow any of youâŠto keep me down. Letâs take a trip down memory lane and cast our minds back to October 2019. Todd Philips has just released his new Joker film, a bleak and grounded but oddly beatitiful horror which would make over $1B on a shoestring budget of $55m, becoming a surprising c...
There is no directorâs cut
This is the official full-length cut
Phillips was talking about an original ending
where arthur is shown to be the one cutting the glasgow smile into his face
But it didnt make the final because he asked The Nolan guy
and he didnt agree
he said no one should be joker except Heath ledger
which doesnt make sense anyway since nolan cant just copyright joker
he doesnt even work at warner brothers
Todd phillips should of stuck with the orignal ending
the sequel would have been quite different had the first one had that ending
The sequel wasn't originally planned out
But its been in development for a while
I remember even reading about the title release a long while back
That being said, the script pitches are night n day
Wherein the second one is heavily decoupled from the first, it was very blatant in the original script that it was a story of Arthur turning into the Joker, wherein Joker was the real him like deep down inside.
And the blood smile scene was the point of no return
But they tried to retcon that and rewrite another story for the sequel
that was meant to be the ending for the sequel
mind you
we see the reveal and its joker carving his own face
arthur
there was no guy
thats why the guy is silent
throughout the film
for some reason it got retconned
after todds talk with nolan
he had to quickly change it
Im not following
In the original Todd wanted Arthur to cut his face with glass from a broken car window, which Nolan stopped
And so he just went with the blood smile, which was also good
But Nolan dropped from WB
And so Todd added the cut smile into the sequel
Oh
it wasnt for the sequel?
i think theres confusion
theres articles that say arthur was meant to mutilate himself in 2
Yeh it seems nolan has a hard on for blocking anything
seems he did it twice
The original had the slice smile but they removed it, idk whats going on with the second movie
Its nolan being a bitch i guess
There's alot of cut content like the Gaga scenes in the trailer
Todd should of gone ahead and done it
what is nolan gonna do
hes not employed by WB
And rumor was that Harley was meant to be the one to off Arthur at the end, but idk
he doesnt own the joker IP
Tbh Nolan's movies weren't all that, like the first one kinda sucked
It was moreso the actors carrying hard
Ledger and Hardy
I will say the script and like beats n twists in the Joker was super well made
But like the first and last movie were kind of bland, Bane didn't really have much going on
I dont get how batman survived
or was it a dream
but the scene with the lucius fox
he said sir the auto pilot was fixed by bruce wayne
are we meant to believe batman ejected in the last second
then swam back to the shore
did u believe batman lives at the end?
Snyder's Batman had its issues but I really liked the suit and how over the top dark he was
it seems to hint he survives
Reeves' Gotham is peak, like the first movie taking place entirely at night
And it really sold the idea of how rotten the entire town is
He literally did lol, the original script just ended with Alfred nodding and smiling
like super dark
But the studio or something made em add in Bruce
Cause they felt audiences wouldn't understand
Haha
how do u feel about burton gotham
it has a darkness to it
that is missing from the others
its so grim
Idk that was before my time
not even really campy
like adam west batman
Yeha same
im 99
but i went back and watched them
I have a bit of an issue getting into like theatrical movies that aged, i.e Star Wars or Burton- Like the slow ass kendo stick movements the Obi Wan vs. Vader fight was just bruh, or Burton's Batman not moving his head lol
When it comes to older flicks I prefer the more dialogue driven or less prop/cgi reliant ones like Scorsese n shit
Godfather, Goodfellas etc.
Haha not moving in head
yeah they had a call out i nthe batman begin
" you want to turn your head"
or was it dark knight
yea icl nolan hyper focused too much on the realism
ik that every artist has their own takes on stuff but nolans batman stuff was pretty mid
like the dark knights good but it dosent even feel like a batman movie
Nah, they're good
I thought I would hate this movie but it was alright. the acting by Gaga and Phoenix in my opinion was great. I didnât enjoy the songs and I hated the ending đ
Gagas interpretation was exactly how I expected it to be đ
Ive been thinking more about it
is it possible that the unnamed character is actually a part of joker "Shadow"? he has no speaking lines until the very end. the guards dont notice him
At the end wouldnt the guard of not let that arthur sit in the hall with another random prisoner?
Then the joker really did " win"
whether arthur suicided or not, i dont think the random guy was a real person
Just thinking more in depth into it
I think the cartoon at the begining is foreshadoiwing
That shadow is stalking him around the prison wanting to come back to its owner
He even reaches for arthur at the medicine place, trying to get him not to take the medicine
And dont forget the end of joker 1 took place in the hallway , in the imginary scene, that never happened
seems the hallway has some special significance
I think heâs real, he represents the fanatic obsession people around him have with Joker. thatâs his âshadowâ. After the courtroom explosion, the fans are chasing him around saying âWe love you!â. Heâs literally being chased by his âshadowâ
interesting theory tho
Saying fuck you to your movie audience isnât good
The movie flopped and was a HORRENDOUSLY COLOSSAL failure because of that
Everyone involved lost money, Todd had some controversies while making the film and his approach, he probably wonât get another job with the studio back lol and reputation ruined for rejecting James Gunnâs notes and saying he wanted nothing to do with DC, having full autonomy over the final cut and still fucking it up, not test screening the movie in advance, and insisting on filming the movie on more expensive locations instead of taking the studioâs advice to save money. And it ended up backfiring extremely
Guess the jokeâs on him
The post production was terrible
This IS the directorâs cut. Todd didnât really have any oversight that could go above his word
joker 2 confuses me so much
like bruh why is todd choosing probably the most privileged position a director as a way to deliver the studio a fuck you
like bro todd ur given ungodly creative control and a gigantic budget and free reign, stop bitching abt the boo hoo fanbase didnt get my movie and flipping off the fans w it
Just give it to someone else fr
If you donât wanna do it
Instead of taking a bag and doing a hatchet job
Like dude you got paid, donât act like some kinda saint
Absolute trash of a movie. Shame on Phillips. He should never be allowed to direct ever again.
Agreed. Such an entitled brat.
I'm still indifferent to the movie
But man if todd philips played nice this movie could've been a whole lot better
Finally watched it. I thought it was much better than what people gave it credit for. I think people went in with different expectations
I can understand not liking the musical aspects. I even found them a bit much at times, but I think people wanted Mob Boss Joker, but that's just not who this Joker is
In the first Joker, he's not a criminal mastermind, he's a mentally ill person barely keeping it together. And the sequel was very much the same. I'll admit I still wanted him to run away at the end, but I do think these movies are more about mental illness than they are about supervillains.
In some ways, I respect Todd Phillips for not going the "Joker escapes and starts a mob" way, because I think that was the more obvious and less inspired route. I know people hate the whole subverting expectations thing, but I feel like the movie had more to say going the way it did than if it just did a traditional comic book movie.
Do we think that Arthur actually had a visitor at the end? Or was that a coordinated trick to get him alone? I thought it was a little odd that the guard just kept walking and didn't come back at all.
Although, with his crazed fanbase, I'm sure there would be lots of people that would want to see him.
I guess weâll never know
It was part of the trap
The guards were in on it
The guards clearly hated him too
Bruh who let Joaquin sing
Honestly I wish they should've gone with the joker escaping and becoming one of the greatest villains of all time.
honestly i wish they could've Not
That would completely gone against the point of both movies
Or have the movie be longer and show the other Joker breaking out and being more of a menace than Arthur
Joker starts to terrorize Gotham by singing with horrible autotune
That sounds like a fun story
Peak
Agreed the movie overhated
I'd watch
same. The overall vibes. And Ben Affleck was an awesome actor
