Actually no, just because Mathew signed a deal doesn't mean the movies will happen. This contract is just for like, incase they make it. It all really depended on if the movie was recieved positively and made lots of money (which it did both with flying colors)

Crank them out until it loses money, but because the money they made were so good, they can stop with a 10-20mil deficit and still come out ahead… I mean, if I was to “pure business” it, that’d be how I’d run any franchise IP.
Pretty cheap 1st one to test the waters, slightly more expensive 2nd one to see if the loyalty is there, then start making one every other year until a movie makes me lose around 10mil… which I’ve banked on the beginning of the series just for such a purpose. Then I would stop for a few years, perhaps a decade or so, then I’d get a new generation of filmmakers who “grew up with the original franchise” to “reinvent it for the new generation”, rinse and repeat.
I’m talking pure business, btw, nothing about how good a film is, or how much passion and attention and/or respect was put into it… just “how to make the most money with an IP with a built-in audience already”
