I disagree. The plot of 1 and 2 is actually really good and solid and does a fantastic job facilitating scenes that would lead to explosive action. John Wick 3 does an okay job, though the action made up for a bit of muddling plot. 4 has a plot that fails to justify its action and the action fails to be as engaging because of its runtime and break from being even remotely convincing at various points.

Every John Wick movie has made more money than the previous one.. the first JW movie made 86 million dollars while the latest one made over 400 million dollars and the next one may make even more.

100mil budget, 100mil PR, 200mil to break even. 428mil box office. 228mil profit. At least 20mil goes to Keanu himself, and 40mil to the director and crew and whatnot, 60mil or so for the distributors and 100mil or so to the productions. It's HEALTHY, but not AMAZING. It's fine as the original goals of launching Chad's directorial career has been WAY shattered, long ago. JW2-4 are really just "gratitude to the fans that supported JW1, by telling a definitive and complete story"... the fact that it made money to cover them, AND give more for future projects, is a bonus.

But back to JW... I think everyone on JW series are more than well compensated for their efforts... while outside of the top people of each (who made the majority of the money), most other Major Studios franchises didn't compensate their people quite as healthily.

#

You have to remember, that JW4 is really run more like an large indie, production-wise, with 3 smaller production houses (one of them owned by Lionsgate, the distributor) footing the overall bill... it doesn't have quite as high of a return requirement as a Major Studio production. A Major Studio would need MINIMUM 100mil profit IN HAND to consider something "worthwhile", and 200mil profit IN HAND to be "sequel-worthy", because it has to consider the employee pool size of THOUSANDS of people. For each smaller production houses in charged of making JW4 to have made, say, 30mil each (if divided equally), AFTER writing off the film, is actually EXCELLENT money, consider each would have (a lot) less than 50 people on staff.

#

However, the opposite also holds true... if a film FAILS, then a smaller production house may possibly collapse completely and go out of business, while a Major Studio can absorb the costs by leveraging other things, because it would have a lot more people with hands in a lot more markets (such as real-estate, because of the studio space, for instance).

#

TL;DR: The math between input/output/return, is very different in something like JW4, compared to say, Frozen, Jurassic World, and Super Mario Bros.

Once VOD sales is made, say on $20, then $8 would go to iTunes, and $12 to the studio/production/rights handling company. Actual internal numbers are different for every film I think, and I donā€™t know for sure what the ranges are.

the only thing that i felt John Wick: Chapter 4 lacked was more revenge on important figures Bill SkarsgƄrd "Marquis" was just a lackey imo.

so the ending felt incomplete for me personally, although John finally got the freedom he seek on the other side, i was hoping he to kill the high table and Bowery King to take the reign.

QUESTION FOR REAL WICK FANS: I love John Wick butā€¦ does anyone else feel that the fighting in the original Matrix movies was a LOT better? Not mean to be a complaint, but a (possibly wrong) observation.
