They def teased the possibility he faked his own death. Not just the bit at the end between Winston and the Bowery King, but also all the characters that kept saying the only way he could find peace would be in death. Do I think they will? Depends on if Keanu wants to do another film or not. They just didn't want to close that option off for good, and IMO it harmed the film slightly as it made something that should have been definitive and meaningful pointless.
Keanu Reeves is bordering on too old to really do this specific type of film.
Unless he wants to become Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones
and Keanu REALLY doesn't strike me as the type of person who wants to do that to his characters. This is the reason Clint Eastwood refused to do anymore Dirty Harry films, he felt the character would become a parody.

honestly i've been kind of cooling down on this compared to the others and... i honestly think both the first one and 2 are better movies, as a whole
but purely as a collection of action set pieces, holy fucking balls
4 kind of feels like the whole "cancelling 5 and smashing it into 4" idea caused them to lose a little attention to detail, if that makes sense
like for example, the first two john wicks (and to a slightly lesser extent 3) had really fantastic scores, and used their music cues just absolutely bonkers well. part of why the club shootouts in both just hit is because the LCV needledrops are just absolutely perfectly timed and perfectly used, almost to the point where it feels like the fight was choreographed around the music and not vice-versa
when 4 does the same thing, 1) the sound mixing is kind of fucked so you can barely hear the score through the cannon-fucking-loud gunshots (like JW4's regular gunshot volume is the same as Refn used to fucking jump scare people in Drive pretty much), and 2) the cues just kind of feel... slapped over the scene without any real direct connection between what's happening on the soundtrack and what you're seeing
like compare how the club scene in 1 uses LED Spirals to build tension as iosef tries to haul ass through the crowd while john just follows him slowly like a T-800, and then has Shots Fired kick in perfectly at the exact moment shit starts to get real, to how those tracks are just kinda... thrown over the top-down scene without any real rhyme or reason to it beyond "we need to use LCV music here, let's use the first two movies' LCV tracks"
i marked the fuck out hearing Shots Fired again but i'm gonna be completely honest it was probably a bad call to reuse it
i also feel like it's indicative of a problem the movie kind of just generally has otherwise, which is that it wants to specifically be "the first three movies, but bigger and more absurd," like it's doing a Gremlins 2/Crank: High Voltage bit for the JW franchise, but that kind of keeps it from really being able to find its own identity beyond basically being a slightly remixed greatest-hits collection of shit i've already seen

i really hate saying this because it makes me come off like a dick but i don't think you paid very much attention. the whole reason the marquis has such a hate-boner for john is because his myth tells other criminals it's okay to disrespect the high table (and this is shown to be a valid fear for the table, through Nobody constantly disrespecting the hell out of them). as long as john exists in the minds of others, he inherently diminishes the high table's power, because he's an example of someone who fought back when they tried to fuck him over and won.
ideally, the marquis wanted to have him go out like a little bitch baby in public so that it would destroy his legend and bring things back to the status quo. that did not happen. instead, john won the duel, freed caine from the table in the process, and died a hero, basically. the table still exists, but their power is massively diminished by the simple fact that they're no longer untouchable
if john can be john, anyone can be john, basically, and everyone being john is the table's worst goddamn nightmare

and... if lionsgate pushes through with wick 5 and resurrects him with a recast, i don't think that's going to go over very well
doubly so if they do it without stahelski, who's also done for a while and has multiple other projects lined up
and... also, all the ground that you could possibly cover with the character has been covered. there aren't any loose threads left to pull
unless you want to do a prequel about the impossible job, which... kind of just runs into the same issue as JW5 would re: keanu/stahelski
(and would also kind of ruin the mystery of a thing i think is honestly better left ambiguous because nothing will live up to what we've built up in our heads)

So one major issue was in the plot. ||The premise left off from Chapter 3 and how this film begins is him continuing his conquest of revenge. Itās about taking down the High Table and then inexplicably it changes to him wanting his freedom and forgetting about the High Table. 90% of the film has nothing to do with the actual plot. The only time it has to do with the plot is when he kills an Elder in the opening. Winston tells him he can challenge a member of the Hogh Table to a duel. This man knew about this the entire time and didnāt tell him except now? And itās such a stupid rule for a world of assassins. How has nobody done this beforehand? This broke the world in terms of believable world building. He also goes to places for no logical reason. Why does her go to Osaka? For advice or weapons? Nope. Just an excuse to have it in the film. I could go on but the entire plot is nonsensical garbage and fails at the logic test. Characters and action I also had major problems with. Wtf is John Wickās motive? His revenge motive made sense even if thin but the change in motive has no logic. Caine was the best character and had a great eve, but he was poorly used. He has a cool way to fight where he uses these motion sensor door bells but the film forgets this and he acts like he can see for the rest of the film. While I agree with the story not being good, the action is what brings the audience, Keanu had to practice 4-8 hours per day on Judo, Taekwondo, Jijutsu, Nunchucks, choreography practice, shooting range and etc. 20 minute actions are not easy to pull off, it requires a lot of timing, practice, memorizing movements, especially shooting through walls. The directing for the fights were good. The story was boring to me, as you've stated with the flaws.
