I am in a bit of a troubling situation. Almost 1 year ago I applied for a PhD in Singapore (I am from EU). I did not hear anything back, so I assumed they rejected me. Ok fine, I went on with my life, started working (a job I don't like but still), started thinking about the future here, moving out of my parent's house, buying a new car ecc. I haven't done all of those things, but I was thinking about them. Last night, I got an email saying I was accepted for the PhD with a scholarship (barely liveable in singapore but still) and I am having second thoughts, and I can't understand if it is because I am not interested in the PhD anymore (I do believe it could move my career to something I am way more interested in than now, but it is still a big time commitment), or if it is because it has now become too real, and I am scared of getting out so soon of my comfort zone here (I should be leaving the 10 Jan). I really like the research topic, I am just afraid of all the things I have read about work-life balance in Singapore for PhD students (I know I should have researched better before, but here I am, can't change the past). Two things I have to mention are 1) one of my concern is a (recently developed) intolerance to soy, so it would be really hard and expensive to find places where I could eat safely according to what I have been told; 2) I am now not in a good place mental health-wise, that was one of the reason I wanted to move out of my parent's home, but I am afraid that if I start a PhD while not being 100% in a good mental spot, it could get worse during the PhD and (big thing here) if I drop out I would have to refund the scholarship (= going into debt), so it is not an easy decision. Am I in the wrong if I ask all these questions, and then some more related to worklife balance, sick days ecc to my advisor, even if I already accepted the offer?
Am I a failure if, after all these months, I just withdraw my application and refuse the offer?
One thing someone made me notice, is that I would have accepted immediately if the PhD was in like Netherlands or Germany, but Singapore feels too far for some reason, and with a much bigger cultural shock I don't know if I am prepared for.

Introduction to game theory by Osborne seems great, I've heard a lot of good things about it. If you're more into combinatorial game theory then people recommend "winning ways for your mathematical plays" by Conway et al. Though the latter is a graduate textbook I believe😅

What do you use it for? ipad 26.1 was made to turn your ipad into a laptop ish setup with the addition of advanced task manager. some say it will lag, so if you don’t really need task manager, than I think you’ll be fine just staying with this version.
