#

yknow the powers of 2

#

multiply or divide a positive real number enough (by 3) itll end up in this range 3-9

and another range 9-27

powers of 3

why is there no jesse “science bitch” emoji

#

Positive real numbers or natural numbers?

#

Cuz if this is for positive reals then the range is just the entirety of the positive reals

cold rivet
#

positive

wet berry
#

Wait no I don’t understand what you’re trying to say

cold rivet
wet berry
#

Square root of 2

cold rivet
#

ok

#

thats a funni one but so

#

if i multiply or divide that by 3, it will be in these “ranges” 3-9, 9-27, etc

#

so sqrt2 * 3 = 4.2

#

probably

wet berry
#

By 3-9 do you mean like all the numbers between 3 and 9

cold rivet
#

4.2*3= somewhere between 9-27

cold rivet
#

or equal to one of them

wet berry
#

Ok so you’re saying that any number in (3,9) multiplied by 3 lies in (9,27)?

cold rivet
#

4.2 x 3^2 = between 27-81

cold rivet
#

but

that function was wonky but you get the point, right?

currently it is between 32-64

divide it by 2 its gonna be between 16-32

what is p =np

#

like the basic concept

#

also what is n + 1

#

both are computer science

neat lintel

neat lintel
#

P is the easier of the two

#

P means polynomial time

#

N means Nondeteministic

#

If P = NP that means every problem is~~ the real~~ deterministic and can be solved with a deterministic algorithm

#

which also means that all problems can be solved in $$O(n^2)$$

neat lintel
cold rivet
prisma plinth
#

wtf

cold rivet
#

im getting there

storm sage
#

That's why P = NP isn't solved

#

If P = NP, then the answer is no, any NP problem is also in P

#

If P ≠ NP, then the answer is yes, there are NP problems which are not in P

cold rivet
storm sage
#

Most computer scientists think yes, there are probably NP problems which are not in P

#

But it's really difficult to prove

cold rivet
#

p = np is whether or not np can be not p

#

wait hmmCat

storm sage
#

Yeah whether or not a problem in NP must also be in P or not

cold rivet
#

P is quickly solved

#

NP = checking an answer quickly

storm sage
#

Yup exactly

cold rivet
#

tf is Pspace

gaunt quest
#

the set of problems (you can give yes or no answers to) that are solvable in polynomial space*

cold rivet
#

uh oh i went too far

gaunt quest
#

so P would be polynomial time I believe and PSPACE is polynomial space

cold rivet
#

let me step back here

#

why is it P? (like why is it polynomial?)

gaunt quest
#

there's two ways algorithms can grow in complexity, they can either take more time to compute or more space to compute

#

if the growth in the time it takes to compute is polynomial, it's P

#

if the growth in the space it takes to compute is polynomial, it's PSPACE

#

memory space to be clear

faint garden

If p=np then n=1 sotrue

#

I wouldn't think of them as axes

#

something can be in P or in PSPACE

#

or both

cold rivet

can something be in p and not pspace???

A perfect number is a number for which the sum of its proper divisors is exactly equal to the number. For example, the sum of the proper divisors of would be , which means that is a perfect number.

A number is called deficient if the sum of its proper divisors is less than and it is called abundant if this sum exceeds .

As is the smallest abundant number, , the smallest number that can be written as the sum of two abundant numbers is . By mathematical analysis, it can be shown that all integers greater than can be written as the sum of two abundant numbers. However, this upper limit cannot be reduced any further by analysis even though it is known that the greatest number that cannot be expressed as the sum of two abundant numbers is less than this limit.

Find the sum of all the positive integers which cannot be written as the sum of two abundant numbers.

its not complicated

cold rivet
#

i need like a js paint drawing

neat lintel
#

the rotor is rotating

cold rivet
#

ok

#

im gonna find a photo

neat lintel
cold rivet
#

so the copper is rotating?

neat lintel
cold rivet
#

also why does it have to be wires? is it just easier?

neat lintel
#

the wires are there to

#

umm

#

i forgor

cold rivet
#

the wires take the electricity away?

#

i also thought magnet in middle spin?

#

and it was like on an axis

neat lintel
#

there is no magnet in teh middle

#

oh wait

cold rivet
#

i know like 8 things about this

#

its not a lot but i know

neat lintel
#

n the majority of designs the rotating assembly in the center of the generator—the "rotor"—contains the magnet, and the "stator" is the stationary armature that is electrically connected to a load.

#

I guess I was wrong, the magnet is on the rotor, the majority of times

cold rivet
#

i think one side could rotate the magnet

#

like to generate energy

#

and the other side has like electricity going into it

neat lintel
neat lintel
#

even nuclear power plants use what is essentially the water wheel

cold rivet
gaunt quest
#

are you asking how electric generators work?

#

I am a bit slow sorry :P

neat lintel
cold rivet
#

but when the magnet rotates

#

all that information goes away

gaunt quest
# cold rivet but when the magnet rotates

I'll just quote Wikipedia here

When the flux changes—because B changes, or because the wire loop is moved or deformed, or both—Faraday's law of induction says that the wire loop acquires an emf
from the magnets perspective the wire is moving

cold rivet
#

i understand what it does but just not how it works

#

like wtf is the electricity?

#

where does it come from

#

electrons from the copper?

neat lintel
#

electricity is just moving electrons

gaunt quest
cold rivet
neat lintel
gaunt quest
#

when we're taking about there "being electricity" what we mean is that there is electrical potential energy

cold rivet
#

ive learned this all in school before, but im gonna watch the video to see if it adds anything

gaunt quest
#

the kinetic energy is changed into potential energy

neat lintel
#

i think they know that

cold rivet
#

if electricity is a wave how is it moving also?

neat lintel
#

they are asking like the very basics

cold rivet
cold rivet
gaunt quest
neat lintel
#

like fundamental particles type question? hmmCat

cold rivet
gaunt quest
#

I think electricity becomes very complicated when we talk about fundamental particles

cold rivet
#

jt like does somethng

gaunt quest
#

the easiest way to understand it for something like a generator is with EM fields

cold rivet
#

ok

gaunt quest
#

for our purpose, a field is just something that takes on a value at positions in space

gaunt quest
#

like a function in terms of x, y, z or something

cold rivet
#

oh like literally just a space

gaunt quest
#

the exact choice of coordinates don't matter

cold rivet
#

ok

gaunt quest
#

when there is charge somewhere in that space, it affects the values the field takes

cold rivet
#

like the magnetic “energy”

gaunt quest
#

there are some laws we use to describe that derived from (or part of depending on how you look at it) Maxwell's equations

#

so physically we have just an electromagnetic field, but it's easier to think of independently as electric and magnetic fields

#

electric fields and magnetic fields then would be dual, they have a direct relationship with one another so if you mess with the magnetic fields you mess with the electric fields and vice versa. all according to the laws I mentioned

#

yk conservation of energy I assume, a generator is not making energy, just converting it

cold rivet
#

ive put it off for months

#

The review today is going great. 33 questions and only 3 wrong, and for silly mistakes like forgetting a negative sign in my answer or forgetting to square both sides. I've done these in ~1.5 hours and this has really boosted my confidence. I think I just needed fresh air and proper sleep because yesterday I was drawing a blank at simple questions. Hopefully this streak continues, but I'm gonna take a break now while my e-ink device charges.

#

Also the actual test is only 20 questions and I have 3 hours for it with my accommodation.

storm sage
#

Actually

#

Let me just comment

#

It seems like you're assuming here that the soup temperature is always greater than the air temperature (which is correct)

#

So instead of |a - s|, you can just write (s - a)

neat lintel
storm sage
#

so you get a + (s - a)(0.7)^t and then no further simplification is really required, just plug it into your calculator

Oh I will say, be careful because it says "every 5 minutes"

@winter hinge

The German word "Informatik" is usually translated to English as "computer science" by universities or "computer science & engineering" by technical universities (German equivalents for institutes of technology). Depending on the context, "informatics" is also translated into "computing", "scientific computing" or "information and computer technology". The French term "informatique" was coined in 1962 by Philippe Dreyfus.
