I am talking. So...

delicate wren
#

no sound at all even for a moment

stuck bluff

I'll move up.

A different server region might help

another attempt

They were still on about making money.

#

I'm temporarily unable to access Windows

#

happy time

#

I'm too scared to open the user view on mobile so having to deal with different volumes

#

ugh

#

@rocky yoke have you tried installing the specific python version using uv?

#

dtrace it

#

I don't remember how well dtrace works on Linux, on Windows it's quite okay

delicate wren

it is an m.2 but...

#

I have some suspicions the voice got broken again

Talking now.

delicate wren
#

now works

would be funny if time check is client-side

(common issue with SPAs)

#

yeah, government is more likely to use something dumber and less breakable, just because ssr is older

#

good practices of php

#

we should teach them btrfs

#

live backup

#

okay, given they might be using windows, then zfs

#

I don't entirely believe in long-term vs short-term trade-offs in software being an actual meaningful thing

#

some statistics might be derived and some commonalities may be found, but on practice short-term and long-term value is too aligned

#

and if something requires long time to achieve, you have to actually spell out what you want

#

it's long or never, not long or short

stuck bluff
#

@tardy spire 👋

delicate wren
#

... and to get there you need quite a lot of short-term-first choices anyway

#

idk what was just said then

delicate wren
#

data regulation

#

general data protection regulation, I guess?
I don't remember

#

yeah, that

#

I haven't heard even a single claim of it affecting users negatively

#

clearer understanding of what data is collected

#

iirc it allows data removal too, but that one's somewhat limited

#

I'm not sure if, for example, Discord is following it properly

#

(you can't fully remove messages, only personal identifying information)

#

I think, in terms of data export, VK does it somewhat correctly, at least from users' perspective

#

(can never be sure how much data they actually have)

#

I have an archive I can look through

#

ah, I thought the whole Discord

#

as in GPU issues

#

data export archive should be easy for the user to explore

#

in VK's case, it's a bunch of HTML files

#

in "ads":

#

and geo-points has:
location during last update
home
work/study place
last approximate location

#

@gritty tiger they're almost falling asleep too, but they're just always like that

#

profile picture

#

a very weird acronym

delicate wren
#

the main concern in my case is dust

#

there's a lot of it where I live

#

(near highway)

#

two previous days I was cleaning the dust out of the PC

#

didn't remove, like, 100% of it because that'd take way longer

#

my screens are in the middle of the room

#

I can theoretically put them on, like, some mount

#

but that'd be even harder to clean

#

some do

#

I don't remember ever hearing that

#

only obviously outdated ones

#

the one I'm using, I think, is targeted at Russia

#

if you aren't financially isolated, it's better to host your own

@marsh lodge i need help

marsh lodge
#

what's your problem?

supple gust
#

i typed this in:
#import all the required libraries first
import sys
from tkinter import *

#import time library to obtain current time
import time

#create a function timing and variable current_time
def timing():
#display current hour,minute,seconds
current_time = time.strftime("%H : %M : %S")
#configure the clock
clock.config(text=current_time)
#clock will change after every 200 microseconds
clock.after(200,timing)

#create a variable that will store our tkinter window

root=Tk()
#define size of the window
root.geometry("600x300")

#

i got this error:

#

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<pyshell#19>", line 1, in <module>
root.geometry("600x300")
File "C:\Users\sunsh\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python313\Lib\tkinter_init_.py", line 2233, in wm_geometry
return self.tk.call('wm', 'geometry', self._w, newGeometry)
_tkinter.TclError: can't invoke "wm" command: application has been destroyed

#

imma try to fix it

marsh lodge
#

That particular error usually means that the Tk() window has already been closed (destroyed) by the time you try to run root.geometry(...).

#

If you typed root = Tk() in one line (which opens a new window), and then closed that window, Tkinter destroys root.

#

When you then type root.geometry("600x300") in the next line, Python complains that _tkinter.TclError: can't invoke "wm" command: application has been destroyed.

#

If you call root.destroy() or something similar before root.mainloop() has started, the window is gone.

#

Also, root = tk.Tk() is the correct assignment for root

marsh lodge
#

You should read the Documentation. @supple gust

In mathematics, a fractal dimension is a term invoked in the science of geometry to provide a rational statistical index of complexity detail in a pattern. A fractal pattern changes with the scale at which it is measured.

Formatting code on Discord

Here's how to format Python code on Discord:

```py
print('Hello world!')
```

These are backticks, not quotes. Check this out if you can't find the backtick key.

For long code samples, you can use our pastebin.

e-ethanol?

#

Ethanol (also called ethyl alcohol, grain alcohol, drinking alcohol, or simply alcohol) is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3CH2OH. It is an alcohol, with its formula also written as C2H5OH, C2H6O or EtOH, where Et stands for ethyl. Ethanol is a volatile, flammable, colorless liquid with a characteristic wine-like odor and pungent taste.[13][14] As a psychoactive depressant, it is the active ingredient in alcoholic beverages, and the second most consumed drug globally behind caffeine.[15]

lethal zephyr
#

yeah but i don't know where is it

#

def stray(arr):
return [x for x in arr if x%2==0]

delicate wren
#

[x for x in arr if x % 2 == 0] constructs a list

#

you can index that expression directly, though that'd inefficient

lethal zephyr
#

can u show it to me

delicate wren
#

items[0] gets the fist item of a list items
[x for x in arr if x%2==0] is a list
therefore you can use [x for x in arr if x%2==0][0]

lethal zephyr
#

yeah but what if there is more

delicate wren
#

what does the function stray need to do?

lethal zephyr
#

You are given an odd-length array of integers, in which all of them are the same, except for one single number.

Complete the method which accepts such an array, and returns that single different number.

The input array will always be valid! (odd-length >= 3)

delicate wren
#

this has nothing to do with numbers being odd

lethal zephyr
#

im doing x%2==0 just to try somthing out

delicate wren
#

here the answer would be 4:

[1, 2, 4, 1, 2]
#

and here it's 3

[1, 2, 3, 1, 2]
lethal zephyr
#

yeah im just asking how can i conver list to int [2] to 2

i know what the method need

delicate wren
#

it's the length of the array that's odd

delicate wren
#
[1, 1, 4, 1, 1]  # answer is 4
[1, 1, 3, 1, 1]  # answer is 3
#

this is what the problem text describes

#

hmm

#

why would it be odd then

#

are you given any input-answer samples?

lethal zephyr
#

bro im not doing that i just want to know how to convert right away

delicate wren
#

I'm not a bro

#

if you want to get the first item, use [0]

lethal zephyr
#

i want to convert list to int when i don't know the index

lethal zephyr
delicate wren
#

two distinct items that is

#

in second case it's 1 and 3

#

1 appears 4 times
3 appears 1 times => it's the answer

#

are you allowed to use a dict?

#

if not, you'll have to track that with separate variables

Virtual environments

Virtual environments are isolated Python environments, which make it easier to keep your system clean and manage dependencies. By default, when activated, only libraries and scripts installed in the virtual environment are accessible, preventing cross-project dependency conflicts, and allowing easy isolation of requirements.

To create a new virtual environment, you can use the standard library venv module: python3 -m venv .venv (replace python3 with python or py on Windows)

Then, to activate the new virtual environment:

Windows (PowerShell): .venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1
or (Command Prompt): .venv\Scripts\activate.bat
MacOS / Linux (Bash): source .venv/bin/activate

Packages can then be installed to the virtual environment using pip, as normal.

For more information, take a read of the documentation. If you run code through your editor, check its documentation on how to make it use your virtual environment. For example, see the VSCode or PyCharm docs.

Tools such as poetry and pipenv can manage the creation of virtual environments as well as project dependencies, making packaging and installing your project easier.

Note: When using PowerShell in Windows, you may need to change the execution policy first. This is only required once per user:

Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Scope CurrentUser
