You can put it down to mental illness but over all it’s very complicated

on one side, you don't necessarily chose, what you are attracted to, no matter how bad the consequences would be, on the other hand, children, the damages can be really great, and the denial of the damage can be really hard to deal with (depending on the occasion, the children might they they consented), it's a really hairy problem to deal with, but i know some people are pedophiles, in the sense that they are attracted to children, but they don't act on it, they can't be "cured", because it's not a sickness, they just have to refrain from acting on it, all their lives, these ones are heros, imho, no matter how disgusting they are. The ones that fails to do so, or don't even try to do so, should be punished, of course, and all precautions should be taken to prevent them to act again, but the ones that manage not to hurt anybody have my respect.
