tl;dr: chardet maintainers made a new release 7.0.0 which they claim is a full rewrite with better accuracy and much better performance, and is also MIT-licensed. the original author showed up in issues claiming it's illegal because

Their claim that it is a "complete rewrite" is irrelevant, since they had ample exposure to the originally licensed code (i.e. this is not a "clean room" implementation). Adding a fancy code generator into the mix does not somehow grant them any additional rights.

in response to another poster:

the stance you are suggesting, which amounts to "if an LLM ever was trained on non-public domain code, that it can never be legally used to create anything, because the mixed licenses involved don't legally allow it as it is a mixed jumble of licenses." That argument may be reasonable. I personally believe all LLMs should be made illegal,

The clustering illusion is the tendency to erroneously consider the inevitable "streaks" or "clusters" arising in small samples from random distributions to be non-random. The illusion is caused by a human tendency to underpredict the amount of variability likely to appear in a small sample of random or pseudorandom data.

It's actually all tarot traditions that do that. For RWS tradition, you have also reversed cards that point towards the more extreme/negative meaning.
https://labyrinthos.co/blogs/tarot-card-meanings-list/death-meaning-major-arcana-tarot-card-meanings here reversal is summarised as "resisting change"

As I said, for me paganism seem to make more sense than monotheistic religions... But I'm still agnostic. It's that omni-everything one being makes less sense to me than multiple entities that are just a mix of archetypes and natural phenomena - for the latter, we can interpret that as working with our subconscious parts of mind, where those more primal ways of understanding the world still exist

The world was seen as ruled by deities, then movements of celestial bodies were also seen as those deities' actions - hence looking for the signs from them

Breaking wheel
The breaking wheel, also known as the execution wheel, the Wheel of Catherine or the (Saint) Catherine('s) Wheel, was a torture method used for public

somewhat interestingly, it appears the breaking wheel had at least two different methods:

  • use a single wheel as a giant circular hammer and drop it on people
  • have two wheels, with periodic links between them. lay people around the circumference, weaving through the links, and bash their limbs with something like an iron stick to break all the bones

question. so far in this year:

  • built 4 browser games each fitting 1400 bytes (each game fits in single packet if using http/3) and main menu for them also fits limits.
  • later built game which breaks most physics (that bad my laptop got haunted for over week; what i broke: 4 dimensions/3 dimensions + layers AND infinite spaces AND noclipping cat AND SEVERELY messed time too… possibly more broke too but already forgot)
  • made a tiny game engine (mix of paint, powerpoint and twine). also web/js only.

and my next ideas:

  • hacking around mobile magnetometer (also going gamedev. possibly some game using IRL elements moving balls around screen… now imagine pain out of trig…)
  • programming language (compiling to assembly) on top of a single IMAGE and image map in html. already started preparing image for that btw.

Guys I need your tips and some knowledge on this.

I'm fairly new to python my best project uptill now was a qr scanner which stores data from it in a database prevents double entry and prevents entry for the same day using streamlit as foundation (idk what you call it but like apps basically). It also has other features like making qr or deleting entries from database using primary key and etc.

Now, I want to actually improve my skills and learn more stuff since I want to pursue ML, I was wondering what would people be expecting if someone sells a 20$ service for python (like normal python and not idk ml and whatnot lol), give example if possible and also if possible tell me for other price ranges aswell

Sorry for the long paragraphs

Tldr; What people expect for 20 bucks (normal python) on freelancing websites

hi chat kind of a smaaallll question but is there any advantages of using fedora in place of Arch?

#

I really like Arch and all, but most of my work is half schoolwork and half studying and schoolwork includes using microsoft stuff and just really basic school shit

#

I heard Fedora was relatively stable for long term and I really wanted to migrate from apple to linux

#

(because finals are approaching and i dont have the time!)

onyx mist

are there any advantages for using it over Arch? I heard lots of developers use it because it's more stable but idk if that's worth it

lusty basin
onyx mist
#

I'm very used to pacman -Sy

onyx mist
#

I was weighing the long term benefits

turbid oyster
# onyx mist I see I see

stable is the most secure, because most packages that get sent to debian are tested for vulns and malware first

#

testing if for versions that are safe but buggy

lusty basin
#

I mean if you know how to make your os stable then thats fine

turbid oyster
#

stable is for stable software

onyx mist
#

I was just considering migrating

lusty basin
turbid oyster
#

depends on what you want

#

if you want stability, debian

if you want to babysit your pc, arch

strong spire
#

By default, Obsidian really focuses on linking notes together, allowing you to create visible mental connections between notes and help you find information easily

lusty basin
strong spire
strong spire
# lusty basin

This is a (relatively) small obsidian Vault (a vault is just what Obsidian calls a folder all of your note files are in)

onyx mist

once my exams are over and I have the entire summer holidays to myself, I'll start configuring my linux setup so that it becomes stable

strong spire

Every line connecting each Node is a link between them, showing how they are related to eachother. Obsidian is known for being good at creating “second brains”

how would i abstract away the s3 bucket

#

@warped sentinel

ripe grotto
#

Ehhhh depends on what role you're interviewing for. For the most part, security matters and is a valid concern, but for hobby project it's not a short-term concern @warped sentinel

#

(You said to move the chatter, sorry)

warped sentinel
# worthy oracle how would i abstract away the s3 bucket

The usual way is to have another level of indirection like an ID or something. So that in the event you move storage, cache it or do other things, you don't end up having to figure out where it's located based on its s3 location

worthy oracle
warped sentinel
worthy oracle
#

the presigned url is only for POSTing

warped sentinel
#

They upload one file or multiple files?
What do they do with that notifcation?
What do they do with these files?

ripe grotto
#

Right, I think the part that recursive is skipping over is that you're trying to feed back the correct download URL from the backend once the object is posted to the s3 bucket

worthy oracle
#

i dont mind explaining these later

#

but right now, can we focus on the problem first

#

i know you are asking architectural questions, but it's not what im currently having problems with

warped sentinel
#

If you want to focus on the stability, you would have to dig into the socket and why it's dropping.
An easy first check would be to see if there is an alive parameter to force a regular ping

worthy oracle
#

the socket is not dropping

#

the redis subscription handler is being called sometimes but not always

worthy oracle
ripe grotto
#

In what cases do you expect it not to be called?

worthy oracle
#

never

ripe grotto
#

So your backend always does a lookup?

worthy oracle
#

it's a redis subscription to a particular key

warped sentinel
#

worth increasing the logging verbosity of your redis client to the max?

worthy oracle
#

i should

#

funnily enough i have absolutely no problems right now

warped sentinel
#

also adding a print statement at the very begnning of your handler

worthy oracle
#

it's working 100% of the time right now

worthy oracle
#

because i need to keep the websocket alive

warped sentinel
#

that was more in case you do any filtering later on and miss it

worthy oracle
#

well, since the problem seems to have gone away for now lets get back to the archi

ripe grotto
worthy oracle
#

these files can be multiple gbs. instead of running the extraction and schema generation on the client side, i decided to instead move all these logic to the backend

worthy oracle
#

so the problem that it solves is "not pessimising memory usage on the client side"

warped sentinel
#

mmmh I am getting confused as new tidbits keep being added. Like the extraction and schema generation, not sure what that entails

worthy oracle
#

well, suppose this is a json file of like 2 billion health record entries

warped sentinel
#

ok

worthy oracle
#

each of the entry follows a format

#

hl7, to be exact

#

the user will need to specify that these entries all follow this format

warped sentinel
#

what do you mean?

worthy oracle
#

hmmm

#

let me give an example
