@high verge just found this when I looked up the issue with you PC not turning off even holding the power and I found this The one chip responsible is that ITE chip. It controls all the power on/off , startup of voltage regulation, sends the power good signal to the supply, etc. Which is on the motherboard, furthermore it says if it's receiving more/less then 5v it can cause issues, I'd say starting with motherboard would be a good start.

# low wraith <@979166206420467733> just found this when I looked up the issue with you PC not...

Then again reading more the guy said this:

Ok so swapping the PSU partially solved the problem...meaning the computer will now properly shutdown after crashing (no hard lockups requiring the switch on the PSU). However, I still get the BSOD intermittently shortly after the OS loads.

So now I need to figure out if it is the a hardware issue with the Mobo or not. RAM tests fine after running memtest overnight continuously. I've reinstalled the lasted drivers from Gigabyte. And no malware detected using 3 different programs. So this just leaves the HD and the GPU...how do I check those?

So I'm not too confident on that now lol

#

Yeah that's the ite chip so it does have one, I'll try to look into how the forced power off works assuming it's somewhat documented

#

(Not asking you to now, enjoy your game.) But on the computer that has the issues I'd download hwmonitor and check the voltages, make sure they seem normalish.

btw everything under the +12V is most likely going to be different

low wraith
#

The VBAT sensor monitors voltage from the CMOS battery, a coin-sized battery on the baseboard. An error is logged in the Event Log if the voltage drops below the threshold in the Sensor Data Record (SDR) file
If I understand what it is saying correctly if there's a power issue it would log it to a event log, not sure where that would be accessable though.

high verge
#

UFCK I GOT HIM DOWN TO 10% HP

ionic moth
#

nice

#

what lvl r u

high verge
#

12

#

i think

low wraith
#

With that, it defines a power failure as VCC falls to 2.6V and SLP_S3# keeps at VIH 2.0V and vcc is 3.3volts, though a standard 24 pin motherboard (which the b650m has) does have 4 3.3v pins, so assuming it's being directly driven from that and not a regulator/voltage divider on the motherboard it probably would say enough.

ionic moth

almost beating magrit at lv 12 is crazy

#

high verge
#

yeah this is why i dont like gigabyte

#

bad quality

#

niw that im a little wiser i'll make a better choice

low wraith
#

I can't believe it doesn't even have basic error indicators

high verge
#

they removed it to save a few dollars

#

maybe $3

#

$8 at most if LED

low wraith
#

On my server computer it has a simple 4 leds,
RAM
VGA
CPU
BIOS

(I believe)
and those have helped me debug it more times then I can count...

high verge
#

it doesnt even ahve an LED to indicate that you're flashing bios

low wraith
#

Only justification would be if that error detection isn't there initially but that's a dangerous game to play cause I'm sure that could cause damage

high verge
#

also the io shield is really cheap flimsy aluminum

low wraith
# high verge $8 at most if LED

If they already have the detection somewhere just on some part of it where the line is either on or off it would cost way less then that too, especially since they'd order in bulk. The leds would prolly be like 60 cents and then a resistor before them which again would be literal cents.

high verge
#

im probably gonna go with an aorus mobo this time

carmine apex
#

just remember to avoid asus

low wraith

Mmm, I lived in South Korea for a year and vacationed to Japan more than a few times. I wouldn't describe Japan as unwelcoming, they were just more reserved in my experience. From a US perspective, it was easy to jump to 'this person doesn't like me' or 'this person is rude', but as I spent a bit more time there, it just kinda' became "how it works here".

#

In South Korea, people would buy us drinks and stuff and talk to us while we were out, it was really cool.
In Japan, most people would kinda' just... go about their days. Restaurant and hotel waitstaff were incredibly kind and super respectful, but I think culturally Japan is more mild mannered, and from the US at least, we've kind of adopted a "This person is being incredibly quiet/stoic," as a slight, when I'm not sure if that's true.

Compared to control participants, those in the shooter video game condition show faster and more accurate attention allocation,
higher spatial resolution in visual processing, and enhanced
mental rotation abilities (for a review, see C. S. Green &
Bavelier, 2012).

The story behind a recent breakthrough in biology research provides a nice illustration of how gamersโ€™ superior spatial and problem-solving skills, as well as their creativity, all came together to solve a real-world, previously insoluble problem. In 2008, researchers at the University of Washington created an online game called Foldit (Cooper et al., 2010), allowing the public to play games in which they model the genetic makeup of proteins. At the end of a three-week competition in 2010, top-scoring players had generated phase estimates that allowed researchers to identify a rapid solution of the crystal structure for a monkey virus related to AIDS. The structure had eluded researchers for over 10 years; however, the nonlinear, cooperative, and creative problem-solving techniques used by these gamers seemed to be precisely the skills needed to finally solve this elusive problem.

Me and my friends go bouldering regularly to keep in touch, I don't see how that's any better than playing games every so often to keep in touch. The only benefit bouldering has over gaming is the physical exercise as well, but both are excellent way to keep in touch with your friends and are both beneficial in that sense.
