I can't recall the guy's name, but some french cavalry officer did a detailed study of the effectiveness of different types of swords in a variety of situations in the early 1800's and found that the yatagan won hands down.

If they shared Local Storage, a malicious site could just do something like localStorage.getItem('token'), and then send that back to their server and now they potentially have your access token if a site stored it in the token key.

And I don't know how to share accross domains. The need for that is likely very niche. I've never needed this. Maybe set up an API on one site and have the other request information from it.

It doesn't. Browser local storage is per domain. That's the point they tried to make - you cannot view browser storage of some other website

They can't, because LS is scoped to each domain. google.com cannot see facebook.com's LS on your machine.

Note: If you have two applications they can still be hosted on the same domain and port by using a reverse proxy (eg nginx), so I guess that way two of your own apps on the same domain could use the same local storage in the browser.
