sorry, done through what?
ah right
May i ask why
Well i did... But there were a few very big pedophile scandals in our church...
I kinda see it now as it is... An instrument to in act might
They loosely interpret old Scripture as however it fits them
Anyway, gotta get shit done
Its not about the people that we encounter because there will always be messed up people i just go by the fact that its the the religion itself
The people in church arent perfect its the religion of it im not trying to say anything thats just how i view it
Well they indoctrinate you...
It was really eyeopening to me to see that there are 1000 of christians Groups that all believe that only their special branch will be able to enter heaven...
I mean alot more determines things but i dont want to get super involved in it rn
I only believed what i believed because i was born into it
Wdym?
Are you a christian?
Which one?
christianity PR
Well many branches believe so, including mine
Which one?
My early schooling was at a christian school, and i've come to know one or two non-denominational christians over time
I had good experiences with all of them, though I do understand that certain branches tend to unfortunately attract less savoury people
I only ever seen/experienced targeted hate against the "other"
Hate against another christian group?
I'm sorry to hear that's been your experience with religion
its like any demographic of people - you're gonna get your truly honest and good people, and you're gonna get your bad eggs
There are a few progressive paths in Germany but im completly through with ot
For me it feels like the bad are in power
Mm. Bad eggs tend to be attracted to positions of authority, though. And religious leadership is an easily attainable form of authority.
And a religion that is about compassion shouldnt constantly push against minorities
I occasionally see churches post articles talking about some good thing they did.
Apparently they thinks it's a newsworthy event when a church starts following their beliefs lol
as if you don't see that much nowadays
That is unfortunately true. I've probably been rather lucky with the fact I haven't ran into such people who believe in the more structured and organised branches
Here in Germany they are activly fighting against minimum pay...
They have Schools and Hospitals which they only need to fund with 1% but can choose who they employ (discriminating against non christians, LGBTQ, Divorced,... THIS ISNT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ELSE IN GERMANY) and (somewhat) what they teach.
Im so sick of it... (Im sry for the rant)
nothing to apologise for, that does sound like an awful political situation to be in
https://foreignpolicy.com/2023/03/19/africa-uganda-evangelicals-homophobia-antigay-bill/ seems on topic for Pride
Homosexuals in Uganda can now be put to death, and that's at least in part due to the efforts of American evangelicals.
Peak.
how absolutely lovely :/
you dont have to go to church to beleive in god
Well i dont
no but ur saying that u dont beleive in god because of the people at the church
im saying just dont go to church and you can still beleive in god
I agree but even then; which god?
I only believed in the christian God because thats how i grew up
well Christianity beleives in heavenly father
It was a nice experience to see it from the inside
But i was born somewhere else i would have believed in something else
yeah thats how most things are
the number one thing that gets me about religion every time I think about it is the number of people who believe that a) there is only one religion that is correct, and b) they had the very good fortune to have been born to a family that practiced the right one.
Well my branch didnt we believed in the holy trinity
depends on your social ideology
ah
And i believe it should be more factual...
A poor kid growing up in an indian slumb who has never heard of god will end in hell
no they wont
Like thats not what i wanna believe
Why?
because god takes those things into account
how was the kid supposed to know anything different
Well whats the point then?
you have to be a very bad person to end up in hell
Im pretty sure im a good person, more compasionate than most people of my church
he wants you to beleive in him
Will i end up in hell for not believing in God?
i dont believe so but you would end up in a lower level of heaven based on my beliefs
If yes then i would be fine with it as it would be blackmail
And if not then i get all the pleasures of heaven without restricting myself on earth
@trail kettle I have had people tell me they pray for me, because I am going to hell because I wasn't part of their religion.
@trail kettle i am glad that your beliefs don't go that way
I know a whole lot of people who are very convinced that the religion they were raised in is right and true, and I know almost no one who is very convinced that a different religion than the one they were raised in is right and true. I think that's incredibly interesting to think about.
Thats pretty messed up
that's... incredibly common.
Who says someones going to hell for not being in someone else’s religion
I'm quite surprised that's never happened to you
Wel a lot of people?
Ever heard about the 100 year war?
100 years of war between 2 different Christians Groups... Millions dead because the whole shit
It hasnt happened to me but i know it exists
I have family members who would happily tell me that I'm going to hell. 🤷♂️
I got teached the same thing
Oh my uncle was sure we were all going to die because of vaccines... "you will see" he told us SMILLING
We are outliving his prophecy already by 2 years... But our contact didnt survived it.
godlygeek I'm ready to connect with you on LinkedIn 👀👀🥺🥺🥺
I'm slowly regretting my decision
Decided to randomly implement cryptography because why the hell not
And I'm suffering
every crypto expert will tell you not to roll your own cryptography
yeah.
I’ve heard lots of stories of folks converting to Christianity. Guess it depends on the circles you run in or media you consume. shrug
mm. I don't think I know a single person who converted to Christianity - though I do know a few who switched denominations.
@solid elbow you probably aren't the type who knows a lot of Chrisitans
also, switching between denominations within protestant Christianity isn't that much of an ideological shift. whereas switching from a denomination of protestantism to catholicism is a larger shift. the former wouldn't always amount to a "conversion".
idk any chrisitans
I would expect you to know more christians than godly
(which sounds pretty ironic at face value)
my eyes see the shapes
the shape is basically the same!
but yeah i agree the average protestant christian in my circle does not know what the nuances are between most of the denominations. maybe in broad strokes
that goes for me a well though i definitely used to know more
protestant denominations don't really purport to be "the right one" at the expense of the others
my parents know quite a few who've switched from christianity to others and the other way around as well, so it's not like, unheard of
whereas the catholic church, for example, purports to be "the right one"
but have you met any reformed believers?
and the orthodox churches purport to collectively be "the right ones"
yes
I have one relative who converted, and that was from Catholicism to Lutheranism. 🤷♂️
but uh - evangelicals definitely do
they purport to be correct at the expense of catholics, for example
I don't think they necessarily think they're correct at the expense of other protestants
that is not my understanding...
Conversionism, or belief in the necessity of being "born again", has been a constant theme of evangelicalism since its beginnings.[3] To evangelicals, the central message of the gospel is justification by faith in Christ and repentance, or turning away, from sin. Conversion differentiates the Christian from the non-Christian, and the change in life it leads to is marked by both a rejection of sin and a corresponding personal holiness of life. A conversion experience can be emotional, including grief and sorrow for sin followed by great relief at receiving forgiveness. The stress on conversion differentiates evangelicalism from other forms of Protestantism by the associated belief that an assurance will accompany conversion.[40] Among evangelicals, individuals have testified to both sudden and gradual conversions.[41][42]
they believe that if you are not "born again", you are not truly a Christian, so far as I understand.
i have never heard of that belief in my family
and they identify as evangelical christians?
well, that'd be evangelical, then
well, what are your beliefs about christians who have not been "born again"?
they're christians
yes, but one can have the "born again" experience that causes them to be saved, but not formally belong to an officially evangelical church.
ok, perhaps. But my impression has always been that evangelicals believe that christians who have not been born again will go to hell.
I'm atheist at expense of all of them
yes, but you can be "born again" under that definition and be a non-evangelical protestant.
ok, but... isn't that still them believing they're "right"? That a christian of a non-evangelical denomination only gets to heaven if they happen by chance to luck into doing what the evangelicals say you must do?
yes, but it amounts to the most minimal possible definition of Christian belief, namely "acceptance of Christ as the savior".
Per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Born_again
In addition to using this phrase with those who do not profess to be Christians, some Evangelical Christians use the phrase and evangelize those who belong to other Christian denominations or groups. This practice is based on the belief that non-Evangelical Christians, even those Christians who are professed Christians, are not "born again" and do not have a "personal relationship with Jesus." They therefore believe that they should evangelize to non-Evangelical Christians in the same way that they would evangelize to people who do not profess the Christian faith.
that does say "some Evangelical Christians", to be fair. I had always thought it was "all", but perhaps not.
(As an aside, this conversation is strictly about discussing what these beliefs are. Not making a judgement about whether or not those beliefs are good or bad. Which the #code-of-conduct would preclude.)
Fine. Religion upsets me but I won't take every segue into this topic to bounce my head against a brick wall so to speak.
and u caught me waking up in the middle of the night
I check discord in the middle of the night, too. usually I'll put a podcast on and try to fall back asleep
Sounds lovely
speaking of god and podcasts, https://www.oldgodsofappalachia.com/ is awesome
Godcasts.
does that extend even to Catholics and Orthodox Christians? I guess what I'm wondering is: are there Christian denominations you were raised to believe are wrong, or are your beliefs that any of them can wind up in heaven as long as they have faith in Jesus?
for the first question yes
for the second question it's the latter
Yes but it maintained by KDE
If it would circumvent the notice that says "we're not going to install updates for these packages unless you get ubuntu pro" that would be an acceptable solution to me, but if it still does that, I can't be having that,.
I can test it in a vm i suppose.
does anyone really use it?
I've set people up with it before. Its good for people that are coming from Windows and they expect the OS to have a full line of graphical tooling.
I also really like KDE software so Ive used it before. I do feel like... the emphasis might be on distributing their software more than on things that a distro should be focused on.
But I dont have any data to back that up, it just sounds reasonable to me
I don't
I love KDE. If you're the sort of user that is looking for light, there is probably another system for you. Or at least you don't necessarily need every tool they have available. But If you want full, modern desktop experience with unified settings, support for modern monitors, Qt interfaces... its great
I wouldnt put it on a server or something lol
Its the most "modern" DE Ive seen so far.
Gnome better
everyone has different needs
Okay
I really don't like gnome. I have three types of linux systems
- server -- no need for desktop at all
- powerful desktop computer -- kde plasma all the way
- pos or laptop -- xfce with Chicago95 theme :P
hello Lunix man
hello
@stark oasis , have you been able to run a good daw and/or a good video editing software
?
by the second i actually mean davinci
by the first, whichever you've found good enough
mostly i care about the daw though. Ive been thinking about using wine to install a lite ableton version but i havent been able to make linux-based stuff use my external audio card yet
So, I'm not a professional video editor, but I find that kdenlive works for any simple edits or clips that I need to do.
As for audio DAWs, I honestly think you're better off just using Windows or MacOS. Audio production is so messy, and all the solutions and plugins are expecting you to be on a system that isn't Linux. There's a good tool for every job, and while some people may think its worth it to fight the uphill battle, it doesn't make sense to me to use Linux for audio production.
That is an official lunixman(tm) take
@rough sapphire
Kdenlive is okay, but, it does not have enough video fx
yeah my use case is usually very simple. Ive also used shotcut before, but that program is not as stable as kdenlive
I prefer davinci because of the mirror fx and the better colorkey actually
Ive used that before on windows but not on linux which is why i didnt mention it
Im sure there should be a video fx linux thingy, even if its console based, but i havent found it, thus why i crave for davinci
but i cannot figure out how to make it work with opengl without catastrophically failing
regarding daws
Linux does have a lot of audio editing stuff
But 1- i cannot figure out how to make it work with bigger sample sizes
and 2 - the linux daws are not ableton, ableton has a very specific workflow that is unbeatable imo
i should try bitwig, but
those two are my main issues with linux
are what makes my computer be a dual booting hybrid
and everytime i boot windows to have fun with those programs i end up having to wait 40mins to 1 hr for the updates to stop hoarding my disk usage
I'm definitely not saying it isn't possible to do, clearly people do it. But that's exactly it. I'm not really interested in alternative open source audio production in the same way I am for other things. I want Ableton, I want AutoTune Pro, I want the same tools that other people who are producing audio are using. I don't want to bash my head into the wall trying to make things work that only 1 of every 1000 people are using.
but yeah
I don't dual boot anymore. I just have two systems.
so you use windows/macosx for audio?
I use Windows for audio production, although its not something I do very often. I have played around a bit with it though, more than video editing.
But in terms of work, programming, networking, systems.... I use linux for all that
ive found the same
even gaming
linux just works better, but i havent been able to make it work for those two cases
I don't play video games that often and when I do its usually like really old ass games that run on emulators and linux is great for that.
I played classic Doom recently
on lunix
Ive never tried it but its definitely come a long way because of Steam
I dont generally have issues with my audio on linux for just basic output.
but I would never want to have a complicated audio config for linux
no, basic no
the issue is, when you got something big going on in a daw you might want to go to a bigger sample size, which delays audio output but gives more time for "real time" audio processing
are you talking about reducing latency? I do that in Ableton using ASIO4ALL.
But yeah its things like that, that is why I'd rather just use something other than Linux.
for Audio production
asio is good, but its not as good as the external card
Do the microsoft arc mouse or the apple magic mouse have left and right-click buttons
the magic mouse doesn't have buttons per-se, but it does have left-right button functionality
What about the Microsoft arc mouse

Hi Guys I've purchased the book python crash course 2nd edition. Where can we find the answers on the Try it Yourself problems? thanks in advance.
@fresh pollen you are in this?
Duh
I’m a programmer
You joined today I’ve been here for ages
how many ages?
October on this account
Was here for 2 years on my old
i can't believe they made a whole cartoon based off killjoy's avatar
all my python projects meet same fate: they are converted to golang
I can't believe theres ponyposting in pydis
happy caturday everypony
It's not called golang.
It's just go
golang is the website because go.com is owned by disney
It's so old, it doesn't use https
golang is its second name... which is kind of better one from the point of SEO.
sorry, but using go, u google everything, except the go u need
yeah, reset it in case
is that your github repo?
nope i was tryna show someone somthing
yeah reset it
it resets it for you, pretty neat
indeed
and I would reset it again
just because
i wonder how discord knows it's on github that fast
i got that message once because i accidentally committed my token
they have some kind of cooperation i assume
github has agreements that scan for such things with discord and other places
GitHub has a list of regex patterns that match tokens from various services
When you push, they scan the incoming contents for matches
If you pay for enterprise, you can even add your own custom patterns
Damn
Do they Tell discord?
Or whT Happens after push
Here’s the list of integrators: https://docs.github.com/en/code-security/secret-scanning/secret-scanning-patterns#supported-secrets
Thanks
guys in my insta account the messenger icon is not appearing on the top right. I have tried everything. How do I resolve this problem?

probably should check that valueType and valueData match
or at least handle the error
also should probably use registryValue in the write-host output instead of interpolating strings
I'm working on automating the tedious configuration of a new windows system
idk, it might be easier to just have a thousand lines of Set-ItemProperty
I already wrote the code so there is no point not using it I guess...

Hi
m@s
linguistics unite! 😄
Finnish and Japanese definitely do not have "fully" consistent spelling - pronunciation mapping either, it might be more consistent than say English but both languages still have subtleties with pronunciation
@cosmic quiver Japanese example? accent on satou (salt vs. something else?)
oh, satou means sugar
せい being pronounced as せー, the i being silent in a lot of words with say き or し like きそく, not to mention you cannot tell the expected pitch accent of the word from writing alone
oh, right, you forget about these since they are so consistent
Spanish then? 😛
Ah, I guess you need to include the rules about gue que, blergh
written and spoken language are kind of two separate worlds that do not map onto each other precisely so it's kind of expected to have nits like these
that's not to mention things like dialects
sure 🙂 It's so annoying with all the "language policing" and people complaining when you don't pronounce the word "per letter" as written, even that is not how anyone have pronunced it ever .. until recently that is >.<
I think the more annoying cases is where we have words spelled the exact same but with different pronunciations depending on meaning 🥴
ambiguity is always fun
Which languages have those? Swedish (stegen vs stegen)
swedish for sure does yeah
my mindset on 'language policing' is that as long as it's legible and the message gets across I don't care at all, unless the person has asked and/or is learning
reasonable stand
planet vs planet is a case with more difference
very different vowel sound
I don't know a single language that doesn't have homonyms
and is it en plan or ett plan? depends on the meaning, and both cases are pronounced the same
I'm always confused if homonyms is either homograph/homophone or both 😛
either or
it seems to have a floating definition
a little
vim question: anyone happen to know how to search for a line containing "A but not B". I was thinking about negative atom, @! but not sure how to combine with the other pattern 😒
ask Fenix or godlygeek. and in #editors-ides
I ended up doing :g/A/v/B/normal! A MARKER and then search for MARKER 😛
lmfao
Alla sätt är bra utom de dåliga. (All solutions are good except the bad ones.)
/^\(\(NegativeRegex\)\@!.\)*$\&.*\(PositiveRegex\)/
I think that ought to work.
I don't ... even ...
^\(\(NegativeRegex\)\@!.\)*$ matches if, at every position on the line, NegativeRegex doesn't match.
.*\(PositiveRegex\) matches if, at some position on the line, PositiveRegex matches.
\& makes the regex match only if both the left and right side match.
It's like the backlash I got for my :Matchdo suggestion, the alternative one person suggested 🤮 https://www.reddit.com/r/vim/comments/125dxi8/searchdo_a_friend_of_cdobufdowindo/
(but I guess this is vim discussion now. are we allowed to talk channel on-topic things here? :P)
I mean, I don't want to learn that abomination
I mean, 🤷♂️ But there's not really anything to learn beyond what I just said. 🙂
sure, It will look prettier with \v I guess 🙂
Thanks, I will store it somewhere for later if I need it
you were on the right track with the \@! atom. The only real trick to it is that the line foobarbaz matches \(bar\)\@! because there are some positions on the line where a bar isn't. So you need to say, at every position in the line, this pattern matches only if this isn't a location where that negative pattern is matched
yeah - well, \(foobar\)\@!foo is "this position matches foo but not foobar", which is perfectly reasonable to use - but it's position-oriented, not line oriented. There's no convenient way to say "this line does not match X", only "this position does not match X". You need to do extra work for "this line does not match"

This is epic
will ai replace data scientists ?
No I don't think so
but gpt4 code interpreter works better than data scientists
I disagree
What makes you think that? It's highly inaccurate
i saw youtube vids
That doesn't make it fact.
gpt 4 already so better at replacing devs
It has not replaced a single developer yet
So the hiring manager is firing developers and instead using chat got to do their work? Or how does that happen
google shut down code jam, ibm freezed hiring
It says gullible on the ceiling
Neither of those things have to do with AI
That sounds like more work
so who will replace them ? another human ? no. it's AI
For those new to this person to have a reference, they watched a random dude's YouTube video making claims that have no factual evidence backing them up
Yes, another human.
Is the AI doing the work on its own? Sounds incredible
i would like to see GPT write an allocator in unsafe rust any language where writing an allocator is viable, and then talk to me about it being decent
i would offer you a 100% guarantee that there will be UB
yes AI is here to replace devs
OR it will be a copy of a program on the internet
Can we use it to stabilize transmute next? 😩
How
I don't think the model that produces a teenager's codebase when asked a question is anywhere near replacing anyone.
I don't see how that is possible to be honest
It literally spouts questions and answers from SO and Quora. I think my job is safe

Hello everybody I'm Nick and in this video I will try to get the brand new GPT-4 model to refactor a legacy codebase using ChatGPT. The old model always failed the task so let's see if the new version improved on it.
Don...
GPT is like those people who can recite a whole bunch of facts about all sorts of things but have no idea what they mean
gpt4 easily replaces a siniro software engineer
I definitely will not waste my time on something I already know.
Isn't a lot of any software engineering, including data science, not just coding?
i, a 15 year old, can absolutely write better code than some of the stuff i've seen it spit out :)
Please, no, don't use logic. It only enrages them further
How
This is a great point, I'm sorry for comparing your intelligence with something as low as GPT 😔

More edgy YouTube videos LMAO
the third comment on the first video is "Shows that, just like search engine skills, you still need to know what you want, and how to review good code."
i watched about 3 seconds of this video and i heard the words
it introduces a breaking change
dunno if i'd want that thing messing with my code
watch the end part. it blows the sinior dev
it definitely took some back and forth to get a working solution
I don't care much about the "GPT will replace devs!!" thing - I don't know enough about AI ot software engineering to be absolutely, 100% certain - but I'm a tiny bit concerned about using youtube videos as "proof"
so i either trust some tool to edit my code... or i do it myself in a way i trust?
i dunno bout you, but that seems like an easy way to get subtle bugs
and those are far worse than the obvious ones
because if you're going to audit every line of code it writes, that's going to be slower than just writing it yourself
now you're just making claims with no evidence whatsoever
theorizing about models that don't even exist
the users (of ChatGPT) will be devs 🙂
I don't have the time to watch this currently, can you summarize the main points
yes, so nobody will pay for devs.
i'd also like to point out something that makes the idea of AI revolutionizing computing seem absurd: when was the last time someone said something, you did it, and then later you realized you misinterpreted?
I think my phrasing was wrong
or perhaps you made an assumption for something they didn't specify, like "what if it goes wrong?"
because a huge part of programming is figuring that out
the entire reason we use programming languages over natural languages is that they're unambiguous
webmd is a thing yet people still visit the doctor 💀
what I mean is the devs will be the ones using ChatGPT to help them code
devs will everyone.
so nobody will get a job
Do you work in development?
so, would i really trust some tool, one that doesn't even know much about the domain nor how to ask me clarifying questions, to write my tech? fuck no.
who's everyone?
those who aren't devs

i am a software engineer
Wait 50 years to become a dev with AI
you still have to know when and how to scrutinize the code given by gpt
And you're concerned that you will be without a job?
yes i'm very very scared
ai will make devs useless
no. they revolutionized the field greatly, but mathematicians exist, don't they? they've just moved on to solving more interesting problems.
you're a student
Apprehension is understandable, but I would suggest you explore the capabilities of ChatGPT from your professional standpoint as opposed to informing your opinion through YouTube videos. You might draw some intuition up as to the major flaws with GPT-generated code, and the difficulty that comes with trying to iterate upon it.
you said in #career-advice you're still doing your degree
yeah but i'm a software engineer
so i can say
i'm doing coding na ?
A very large portion of the code we troubleshoot here is sourced from ChatGPT or other AI tools. It is often very confidently incorrect, and requires quite a bit of reading to try and make sense of the code it produces. 😅 I'm pretty confident developers as a whole are in no danger for the moment.
sorry if this sounds gatekeepish but come on bruv
yes i did work as software engineer at a company, in php CRM
and i'm still a student and i'm at my final years
i'm now at my university library pc chatting here
a time pass
💀
I say I work in Cybersecurity even though I'm a student. I'm not sure being a student is mutually exclusive with a professional title.
I can assure you, as long as you're not a "copy-paste programmer", you'll be fine
but i'm very very scared
theyre not mutually exclusive, I'm trying to see if they actually work
I do not think you need to be concerned, I think is the point we're trying to make here.
I'm not sure what level of evidence you need to purport that idea, as we're not clairvoyant.
but in the end, you do you
But current indicators exist to state that you're likely not at risk of being unemployed soon.
That's definitely not true
youre not getting into google in this mindstate anyway, whats the point of being so pessimistic for no reason
competitive programming is a highly repetitive niche, to be fair
but i can still get my scholarship later in foreign university in AI and survive as AI scientist
even when codejam was being hosted, it wasn't the primary way Google hired
most problems solved in the real world... aren't, at least not to the same degree
lol, cp is where coders do their work
This is so wrong
you're telling me the industry is competitive programming?
google ditched it for AI
they trust more in AI
uhm... with all due respect, that's bullshit
Where did they say this?
the industry is autism
?
Google ceo said that it's AI first company
You quoted them saying "for years" it's been their priority. It's Google, they're in a position to focus on AI.
Read this post and tell me where Google says they stopped Codejam for AI: https://developers.googleblog.com/2023/05/celebrate-googles-coding-competitions.html
Like building and using it, not replacing their own workforce with AI chat bots
yeah but why they stopped
They're not going to tell you.
bc they dont' need any more
Now, coincidentally, is a wonderful time to be an ML/AI focused developer or a data scientist.
they already built AI
🤦
they stopped cause they probably fired the people that ran it
that's not how they did hiring in the first place
I don't think this conversation is going to go anywhere.
yeah software engineers are dead
guess i'll die
yeah man
.
We have come full circle again
so be an AI scientist
rem, sre is still software eng
ditch coding
No
no, i'm fine
im gonna be a tradie instead
believe what AI gives you
You haven't convinced me, and you haven't listened to us. It's pointless to continue this discussion in my opinion
thats where actual job safety is
i'm dying my friend
That's what they want you to think.
bye felicia?
even if gpt actually gets good enough to replace us the last thing i'd switch to for a living is being weird algebra man
The annual salary range for this role is $200,000 – $370,000
it's enogh for my future
Going electrical sounds fun
then i'll leave coding
im not smart enough to be an electrician 💀
😂
Look, just don't touch the sparky thing and you'll be fine I swear. And if it's big and orange, think of it as a warning
electricity, plumbing, general carpentry
Don't listen to Soul. Shutting off breakers is a chore, do everything while it's live.
would love to level up in all those
If it sparks, you know it's working.
so AI really replaced software engineers
If that's your takeaway from this conversation, sure.
I'd just die
Dude no seriously the double gang that has my outside light by the door is wired so jank, we had to have it on to know where it was going
my final comment
warnings are only that, warnings
I'm gonna work in a coal mine
Challenge accepted 😎
I discovered I had a breaker panel that was drywalled over in my old house when I was flipping breakers to try and turn off some outlets and none of them would turn off.
i'll start Uber eats
that sounds like an interesting job at their scale ngl
That's.....amazing
software engineers are dead
After running through all the breakers about 10 times, I just stared into oblivion for a few hours before acquiesing and calling an electrician.
It's fine if you believe this, but please don't doom-post or bait the argument in here if you have no intentions of listening to any countering opinions.
this type of doomerism needs to be banned ASAP
honestly
"Well there's your problem, this was the facade! Can't believe you couldn't tell..."
They were copy-paste houses, he said it was a common issue and knew right where it was. 🥴
Damn
fucking hell
"Do not complain about your new AI overlord" /sarcasm
just wait for gpt5
No
Time marches onward Mar, you cannot avoid it.
why wait, i'll quit right now
Wee
one software eng dead
no one wants to hire a war criminal
doubtful
🥴 I genuinely just stay catching strays.
it do be like that sometimes
sez u
proof?
And that would have been playing it at all 😔
What happens in WT stays in WT?
there aren't really many opportunities for war crimes anyway
except you can shoot ejected pilots
you can go shoot at civilians
there aren't civilians I think
you could try making certain chemical agents in your backyard
oh we're talking about real life
Lol "that escalated quickly"
💀
AI can code better than humans
what were you talking about
AI wont take rest
Can you give it a break
AI wont degrade
aboo pls ban this guy
War Thunder, the game 😔
okay
At this point it is just spam
i'm just so scared
Cool
👍
please tell me what will i do in my future
go be a beet farmer
AI killed my jobs
that's on you
You won't listen to us so why
tbh shooting civilians and committing war crimes most likely breaks the python discord #code-of-conduct
debatable
Whaaaaaat?
apparently civilians are rare in the game
And we have told you multiple times to not be, and reasons why, and you have either ignored them or repeated your same "AI WILL TAKE OVER" stance.
yeah, real surprising 😔
So please, lets stop with the AI will replace people discussion
just tell me AGI will be noob
AGI will be noob
AGI will take your job and your wife
AGI is a long way off
please discuss moderator policy privately before you make such declarations in public
AGI will be written in Ruby
my mistake, I'll make sure to discuss war crimes with you first next time, hsp
ear crimes
ear crimes
excuse me?
!otn a aboo's ear crimes
:ok_hand: Added aboo’s-ear-crimes to the names list.
it's a well known fact I don't make typos
it's not a war crime if it's not officially a war
i'm doing cp in c++
did i tell you guys i poked a hole in my eardrum with an earbud when i was like 2
ouch
oh? Circumventing the rules, eh?
fax
it healed
whoo
is your eardrum ok
can i make all programs of python in c++
ye
no
maybe
Ask yourself if you should, before asking if you could
why shouldn't i ? c++ is so faster
Jeez, there goes all my decisions 😩
can you?
aren't you an AI student?
yes, theoretically
I code in Other languages only if i Care about speed
yes, but i'm also a programmer
but can he
Or if im bored of python
I'm starting to feel like this person most certainly isn't in college
c++ is faster once it is working right? How long will it take to get there with c++ vs python?
why do you think machine learning uses python
Or if its easier in Other languages
same
bc it has so many libs
You can write equivalent programs in c++ in the same amount of time it takes you to write in python?
noobs made so many libs in python
🥴 This is starting to feel circular.
and those libs are written in?
no c++ will be so long to write just once. but after that its so faster
what about tensorflow? are its authors noobs? it's a library for python
slow nooby python
why man why
why not c++
My point is that it could take much much longer to get to that point with c++, vs making it (and working with it) in python
This has to be a troll now
wrong
what do you think tensorflow is written in? do you think the authors are noobs?
all python devs are noob
so, even the authors of tensorflow?
only c, c++, go, rust is pro
he's just a script writer. not even a programmer
!timeout 952875383743713331 4h Take a break. We have gone from discussing your nihilistic view of learning to develop in the face of AI to now just trolling about python. This community is here to help, but only if you want it.
:incoming_envelope: :ok_hand: applied timeout to @wise sierra until <t:1685990728:f> (4 hours).
it's not a single person, it's a research team. Google's research team, actually
lmao, but their google jawb
ugh Brad, I was so close
BuT tHeY aRe RePlAciNg ThEmSeLvEs
They really do exist...
What flavor of keeb?
starting to conrevolve
whats a keeb
Oh jeez there's another one
Hip new way of saying keyboard
mint chocolate chip
based
Because it's...4 less letters?
what keeb?
Mint chocolate chip is based, but that's not exactly what I was asking. 😛
mariosis you just aren't hip enough
😔
wdym
You're being deliberately obtuse.
Knowledge base?
kernel board?
knowledge based
did you think I meant keyboard?
Lmao
I bought ice cream
KBM but without the M, there ya go
did you actually
Lying is mean 😦
I'm trying to engage you in a conversation about something you brought up.
Ice cream delivered by UPS is most certainly liquified, and the liquid drained from the box
keebler ice cream
not if it was delivered in a cooler
nah it'll be fine
isn't mint chocolate chip sort of mid
Mint and chocolate go together like... peanut butter and jelly.
Is this what it's like to realize you're getting old, when everyone around keeps using lingo and you're there thinking "but why?"
this is true
You hit an age where you decide to embrace it and sound stupid or ignore it and sound out of touch.
but the flavor is sort of mid with ice cream
you're mid
uh, rude
I think rizz is funny.
the two best flavors are mint chocolate chip and coffee
I've definitely become the embrace, as I love to bother my niece
what, the fact that you don't have any?
...
rem has L rizz
KP on the verbal beatdown today.
say something is "goated" to her
"goated with the sauce"
How many Rizz points do i get today, oh boy 1 million rizzes, better put my Rizz on private
it's not you, it's that "keeb" is a fucking terrible shortened name for keebler ice cream
No it got me when psv you called mint chocolate "mid" instead of "abysmal"
what am I supposed to call it

hah
I did no such thing
keebler ice cream
OH jeez chat moved, it was aboo
that was aboo
Soul gets it
why not keeb
keeb means keyboard
You good? Mint chocolate chip is fire
it's already taken
keeb means keebler
PSVM meant keyboard.
no it doesn't
You guys are all taking the bait.
Are you sure you didn't mean this? https://www.tomshardware.com/news/heres-the-scoop-samsung-makes-mint-chocolate-chip-peripherals
that's kinda cute actually
Lol
I want creamier keycaps
I'd eat it
I mean, creamier ice cream
have you heard of a microwave
how does that add cream
Are you discovering a milkshake right now
melted = creamer?
Well you see... 🤓
oh doesn't that just add air or something
eh?
They want more mass inside the same ice cream
it blends the ice cream
ok sure, it ends up creamier
depends
it's like, crystallized right
is it?
Somebody's about to google the chemical composition of ice cream
I think so
I sleep wrong ONE time, and my back hurts
what the hell
shut
Wait until you just try to sit up and you suffer 😔
according to https://cuberule.com I've come to the conclusion that ice cream is a soup
who made the rule
imagine
Like "why are my abs hurting"
ice cream when in a cone, is a toast
What?
imagine what
being old
the carbs are on the bottom, so by the cube rule, tis a toast
shut
the cube rule only concerns starches though what
you can't apply that to non starch things
is the cone not a starch
Can we appreciate this?
a pop-tart is a sandwich
I'm sure in some alternate universe out there ice cream is a rich source of starch
that's true
oh cones
I've unironically never had a pop tart
uncultured
So that's what's wrong with you
i'm a cup man, cones are childish
does ice cream have starch in it
says you
yes, says me
it depends
some ice creams are better in a bowl
i barely know what a pop tart is tbh
Mar, let's be honest, are you just too old for the cone?
Prasie be
childish? it's about efficiency. you have to throw out your cup. I don't have to walk anywhere to find a trash can
think of the environmental impact
I love me the cube rule of food https://cuberule.com/
also the entire ice cream is a carb so it kinda doesn't work
you have to throw out the paper they give you with the cone so you dont drip all over your pants and look like a dork
too late, I already linked it 😤
yeah Brad focus up
smh
what are you a nerd? eat faster
I haven't heard dork in forever, jeez
but my teefs
dork
ah right, UKers teeth
😔
🩼 omw
what's wrong with UK teeth?
there's a meme
psvm implied that they operate at a lesser rate of ice cream consumption
Their teeth are ill suited for chomping ice cream
I don't eat icecream at all
thou art not worthy of thy ice cream
there are better desserts
A bowl of ice cream would be a wet salad
What constitutes a salad? Bowls?
hrmm
The lack of starch
existence of subjectively better desserts does not imply the inferiority of ice cream
kinda does, by definition
the argument you want to make is that even though inferior, they aren't necessarily bad to have
yeah that
variety is the spice of life, or something
my non-existent respect for you has dropped even further
idc
smh moyen
Which desserts are subjectively better? Ice cream is in one of the highest tiers
vivek is disappointed in you
indian desserts
