Can also use: e
*Run Python code and get the results.
This command supports multiple lines of code, including code wrapped inside a formatted code
block. Code can be re-evaluated by editing the original message within 10 seconds and
clicking the reaction that subsequently appears.

Hello π
We don't make exceptions for our voice gate, the requirements are pretty minimal
Fine.
umm, is anyone talking or problem at my end
If you plan on being here for a while, it's a drop in the bucket
ah ok
So VC 0 , I'm facing a bit of a dilemma atm
And it has helped us tons. We had what I call "hit and run" trolls. People who would join the server, join VC, scream and then leave.
Honestly someone should make a command on the python bot called !whyvoicegate or something which outputs text in an embed outlining the reasons for the voice gate being implemented
Would make life much easier for mods/people in general

At my Uni, all the Python professors are ass
but the Java ones are "good"
Therefore, I am inclined to take professors that teach java
In your experience, should I go ahead and learn Java first and then Python or just focus on Python
no but the reason for the voice gate
it says in #voice-verification
aah
In order to prevent abuse of our voice channels, we put some conditions in place before you can gain the ability to speak in voice.
one of the reasons to avoid anything covered by hipaa lol
aah got it
I understand lol
its all good.
Do python, you can find good tutorials online as well
how many of you are replacing flask with fastAPI
There's no reason not to take Java courses. Almost all the things that you learn will apply across the languages you learn later down the line
And it does tend to be the case that most professors are Java trained, and try to push that on their Python lessons
Makes sense.
However, Java is still highly used in the industry, so it's still relevant and helpful to learn
Opinions on emojis in git commits?
I started in haskell (:
within reason
then java in uni
Alright, sounds good VC 0

uvi unu
yeah, but still
ah
I use this for figuring out what to use lol
if you need a reference for commits, then it's a bad commit lol
Opinions on trying to learn 2 languages at the same time?
π <-- clear as day and cute!

i don't like emojis on commit messages for some reason
possible, but you'll confuse yourself
squash merging π¦
mmmm, giving my report presentation in 10 minutes
j'aime squash merge

oooh good luck π
Is this week the last of finals?
I just feel that emojis in git commits actually makes people want to read them π€£
else nobody cares when they get to your github repository
Yeah. Giving a report presentation to my professor in 9 minutes and then my final is due Friday 5pm
dang nice π
only 3 more questions left @_@
π¬
gl
Yeah, its more practical to do Java before Python (as far as credits)
yeah but like, if someone has to go into the history the emoji isn't what's going to keep them there lol
fair enough
its just an aesthetic thing
obviously in the end its your code/value of your project
it sucks if its a standard though
because then everybody has to know what to use
lol
but its nice if its used here and there in my opinion
right π
sadly if its an open source project it can be difficult to hold people accountable for commit format
not really?
ooh it isnt? how would you go about doing it? would love to know PLEASE lol
aah so they would have to revert the commit and "redo" their work
no?
<link href="{{ url_for('static', filename='css/bootstrap.min.css') }}" rel="stylesheet">

oh you're SavagePastaMan on github
finally!
i found your github from your game flawless which I found from @ Griff
Which project?

Maybe they were just very self-conscious π
Hey whats up
ok so guys, I have a question:
I started working on a feature in a branch of my github repository and haven't committed because I havent done substantial enough work to commit, but now im not motivated to work on this feature(will finish it later) and want to work on another feature on another branch instead
The problem:
When I check another git branch out the unstaged changes come with it, but I want to get a copy of the main branch, with no changes from that new feature. However, if I switch to the main branch, the unstaged changes come with that as well, which kinda sucks. How would I go about solving my problem?
stash!
An obvious solution would be to clone another copy of the repository to my system and name it something else, and then check a branch out there
stash?
gonna check it out
thanks
yes, you can stash your changes

gonna try actually learning rust π
well, actually as in like, more than basic things
But I suppose it does depend how the energy use grows with the number of transactions π€
So this might be misleading.
Because it implies a proportional relationship.
someone's solution:
The difference is that e.g. the VISA network doesn't have to solve intentionally hard computations.

Of course I am pinging the right person. You were talking about calculators.
No but you pinged another jake
@dense ibex Thanks for boosting
There's 2 jake?

Damn, I did not pay attention to the role colour.

@cerulean moth huh?
You're fine lol. Just so you know π

Hey @tawdry flax!
It looks like you tried to attach a Python file - please use a code-pasting service such as https://paste.pythondiscord.com
@tiny socket Did you say my name?
no i was mentioning this code
Haha, the consequence of using βcodeβ in oneβs handle...
I will remember. π
I personally can't, as I don't know a lot about it. You might ask in #async-and-concurrency
They'd be the folks who would know the most on the topic
okay ty

@pulsar island
β @pulsar island can now stream.
oh sheesh why are mentions purple now
@severe pulsar
I don't mind the mentions
they are?
It's the reactions
yep
damn dark sidebar is kinda fun
like the vc is in dark mode
but the chat is in light mode
lol
@low verge Why/how were you bouncing between the media and voice chat 0 channels?
@rugged root internet issue
That's what I figured, okay
Just hadn't see it be rapid like that before
@rugged root btw I am unable to speak in voice channel
!voice Yep, that's as intended. This'll tell you what you need to know

Is not working there
@pallid vigil Please do not try to link things like that to our users. If you have linked this elsewhere, you are likely to be muted or banned
:/
Any chat with me
Yep, happy to.
So I can be able to join voicw channel
And you can still hang out in the voice channel, just can't speak yet
Yeah I know
Most of the time if we're in the voice channel, we'll watch the accompanying text channel
Mostly stuff for here
@rugged root ohh okey
But also working on minor game projects. I say that, but I haven't made much progress in them
I'm not a programmer by trade
I just do it as a hobby
Very cool
@rugged root ohh you are in vc
dart is π
Yep!
π
@severe pulsar do you code In flutter
I do code using flutter, yeah
@severe pulsar have you made any application

Awesome
π
dictionary = {}
for key in dictionary.keys():
print(dictionary[key])
@pulsar island
for key in dictionary would work too
but .keys() is more explicit
The Pythonic way is without the .keys()
sup boys π
level_you_care_about = my_dict.get("first level").get("second level")
This would give you access to that inner inner dictionary, letting you play with it directly
Hey I am back
Elasticserver > elastic Indexes > key1, key2, key3, _source > key:value pairs
Thanks hemlock, i see that he is muted for now.
Yeah seems that way. Double checking to see if anything else happened infraction wise
got it
check #voice-verification for requirements that need to be met in order to speak
Did you do the !voice_verify command in #voice-verification ?
@rugged root yip
Whoop
I did
Still saying less than 50 non message
You JUST hit 50
ooh
Ohh okay

There you go. @low verge You might have to disconnect then reconnect for it to work now
But you've got the role properly linked
Ok let me check
@rugged root Can you tell me how many I have left?
isnt it possible to check for yourself with the !voiceverify command
Yep, two seconds
I won't spam, I just don't know how much I've typed over time
Yeah 27
Thank you.
it has to be done over a 30 min time span as well, in 10 min chunks anyway lol
They've already hit the chunk

ord(c)```
Given a string representing one Unicode character, return an integer representing the Unicode code point of that character. For example, `ord('a')` returns the integer `97` and `ord('β¬')` (Euro sign) returns `8364`. This is the inverse of [`chr()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/functions.html#chr "chr").

I looked into httpx lib today and man, its so much less code than aiohttp
and quite simple
Oh I love this
its like, 1 line less for usage?
the devs over at encode are amazing
they built starlette, which powers fastapi
@paper tendon can I dm you dude?
they're awesome
the only step that httpx doesn't do is the request context manager
@paper tendon I'm looking at bro
also, re httpx:
yes, we're maybe 2x-3x slower than aiohttp, but getting up to speed there isn't a priority for 1.0
its a interesting project, that so far doesn't seem to have any killer features over aiohttp
oh shit
https://github.com/encode/starlette this is amazing
yep

Scouse is a type of stew, typically made from chunks of meat, usually beef or lamb, potatoes and onion. It is particularly associated with the port of Liverpool, which is why the inhabitants of that city are often referred to as "scousers".

Hey guys, do you know how to access a json using dot notation instead of ['']?
Alrighty
<@&831776746206265384> may i have streaming permissions for help with my code?
are you going to make a dictionary
if thats the case u need to have {} instead of []
just go all the way appending list through keys of dictionary
@plain mica are you using "array" and "list" interchangeably?
@plain mica A list of lists is not an array. In the context of Python, "array" refers to an implementation detail of lists or (more commonly) a data type defined in numpy.
just make a list of keys
than passing it to loop taking every element of list of keys and get the values than appending to a empty list
no worries man
i just joined today
unable to speak
what are you trying to do @pallid compass?
is there any heck through which i can participate
you're trying to copy a dictionary, or filter for certain key-values, or what?
No, you have to wait three days.
oo man
@plain mica you guys are live everyday
can you please paste the dictionary over here
so that i can also try
playerstats
`item=[]
for x in playerstats:
items.append(playerstats[x])
get the values
`
just try does it work
i am so sorry i am not able to speak
ya it works
man
thats the reason man i use sublime text
no not in for loop
in regular instance
ya
item.append(playerstats[x])
# get the values
print(item)```
no worries man
it will be all right
can u please tell me what actually u are trying to do if that doesn`t sound wierd
dont put print(stats ) in loop
sublime guys
just go to view
minimap
within view menu
you got that man
welcome i am enjoying i wish i could also participate
item.append(playerstats[x])
# get the values
print(item)```
do this man
he is having print within line
item.append(playerstats[x])
print(item)
this is the code which he is writing
instead it should be
item.append(playerstats[x])
# get the values
print(item)```
from that_file import lebrone
have you written this
ok ok
print('hello_world')
i am all there ]
lebron is nothing
it is neither a list nor tuple
by everyone
ya
previous one was right
no
ya
you caught it right
ya
ya
good bye
do you have plans time table for being live
please recommended him sublime text

Ugh this is so annoying
re.split(r'\s*,{1}\s*', s)
will work if there's a comma but won't work for the no comma test case
re.split('r\s*,?\s*', s)
should work but it's producing empty strings
I mean you could do
[substr for substr in re.split(r'\s*,?\s*', s) if substr]
but pure regex!!!!
oh no that's not pure regex ;)
so all those numbers, i haven't optimised the encoder, but that's encrypted.
there's two different numbers that play two different roles in the encryption process, and the decrypted output is an arbitrarily large integer, which is then decoded to retreive the message
