Mention it here, please
These days, think of your router/modem as the thing that has the public ip address assigned to it.
With:#
no I think i know what you're talking about, to save the address space gateways or routers (whatever they're called) use a single address to connect to internet. then after receiving data, they send that data to individual pc's.
kinda like a Tree Structure?
but my own pc also have a unique IP address right?
There is that, but that's not actually what I was referring to.
Think of it as unique.
Thx, boi
It's sometimes actually not...but...don't worry about that.

is this my ip address, I found using ipconfig command
IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 1289:4fd3:790:6128:34e3:237c:15ce:8045
Why does it have a beard
Your router will have two IP addresses. Its internet-facing address and its you-facing address, usually something like 192.168.0.1.
that's your local IPv6 address
okay im lost
I see
especially
Oh, okay. If we're talking about ipv6, that's...again, another matter.

there's also Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : dc70::684f:234f:10ce:786d%98
thanks
Oh no...
For now, maybe just focus on ipv4 for sanity and simplicity's sake.
i read, they came up with ipv6 because they were running out of address space for devices, some x billion devices
Yeah.
@stray niche You should have enough. How long have you been on the server?
search user:FabSam#9201 in discord search
I dont 😦 Not that long
ok
😄
you know, I'm trying to learn all this stuff, because Laundmo told me to do so 🥲
Well, just keep active. You'll reach all the requirements at some point soon enough.

Be healthy,@faint ermine
We heard.
Ok
Yahoy.

I honestly have no idea
does your config give an error message
No, there is no mistake at all. It just doesn't start
then there is a mistake
😦
It just doesn't start for it has always been on. It is neverending.
I can start it with the command: polybar example, but it doesn't start automatically:(
@gentle flint
an easy thing to do is to specifically introduce a specific error in your config file so it shows an error, and then you can view the logs too in the same file
I am doing it according to this tutorial: https://github.com/polybar/polybar/wiki
@stray niche I'm fluent in bullshit and waffle.
I just stuck with i3status tbh
😂
ha yes the bullshit language
Ah lol
OK)
You can drop config into bar { }
?
i3status
I would be very grateful
also I speak English, Dutch, bad French, some words of Hebrew (although my Hebrew accent is quite good). I can generally guess at German and Frisian when it's written. For the rest I speak a few words of Swedish, and I've been learning the Macedonian Cyrillic alphabet @stray niche
hope that answers your question
@gentle flint, waiting for your reply
I'm not sure what you're trying to say, so I'm waiting for you to clarify in a few short sentences, Chuuuwie.

Gangle, perhaps?
how do you remember?
You can give me this line from your config, which is located in the .config / i3 / config directory.
I don't
Told after the fact?
ahh
yes
I can give you the config file itself if that helps
You lived on a boat?
@gentle flint, I will be very grateful.
k, hang on
@gentle flint is that your old home

The Place Srirangpatna had the name of the Srirangapuri in the early ages; later it got the name of the Srirangapatna. The town is an island being surrounded by the river Cauvery. In this town, there is the temple of Sri Ranganatha. Sri Lakshmi Narasimha, Sri Gangadereshwara, Sri Jyothirmaheshwara and other small temples.

i guess european people discovered america
the current americans are early europeans
im not talking bout native
well, they were there
i know
therefore by definition they must have discovered it
so yes, they discovered it, not the europeans
any other statement must by definition be blatantly false, unless the native americans did not actually discover it

halfway through our living in that house, about a year in, some workmen were renovating the house next to ours and removed a retaining wall, after which the entire neighbouring building fell down, scraping along our apartment
we had one wooden staircase as access to the apartment, but there was no fire escape, because "there are no fires in Spain"
that's the sort of neighbourhood it was

yeah, wish the voice verification bot would tell you how many messages you're up to. although, it doesn't really matter - it's easy enough to get up to 50 messages.
@molten pewter so, what do you work on? price scraping for personal use?
but I did share the link to the Product Advertising API above 👆 that's the "official" way to get the price of a product by ASIN.
i have tried to do this scraping stuff on twitter
but couldn't figure out a way to loop over pages

whats exactly the problem which you came across while using grid
`#Import Discord package
import discord
#Client
client = discord.Client()
@client.event
async def on_ready():
#do stuff
general_channel = client.get_channel()
general_channel.send('Hello @everyone')
#run the client on the server
client.run('')`
see
client.get_channel() ?
if message.content.startswith("//inspire"):
quote = get_quote()
await message.channel.send(quote)
good for you
lol I really wish I could have told you the answer, but there is a lot of noise around me so I can't speak
oh man
np
maybe a few minutes later
by the way i made a music bot want to see that
ye
just join my server
did you use youtube api?
It is still in testing
yaa
Yes
have you hosted your bot?
good pfp @wise glade
goto your discord developer portal
well there is heroku
ya
and repl maybe
thanks
anyone knows flask?
but I am not sure if heroku supports music playing bots
I have heard people saying that ffmpeg doesn't work or something
by the way i am very new to python so i watched the whole youtube video to make that bot @neon sleet
Heroku isn't made for things like bots
It's made for websites that don't require a constant connection
but it does work bots
The return of the Messiah
whats the alternative then?
hi laundmo
@neon sleet I didn't make any bot i was just messing around you. Lol
I didn't know much about python though
and handling a lot of requests?
Just use the most expensive cloud server
lol
so, in this, I know what is <div class="something">, also what <span class="something">, but i don't know what something specifically do, is it important to learn about these div class values? or can I get by copy paste? All this for Flask
how would you afford a $100 then
here we go with some html

Integrate your service with Discord — whether it's a bot or a game or whatever your wildest imagination can come up with.
@glass kettle
you need to select "bot" in scripts
@glass kettle There are tons of youtube videos you just check out them
yip
then the link will come up
the class="" is a css class used to apply the same css to many elements
yeah, i know what it is, but I don't know what those values in the example I showed specifically do
like navbar-header and navbar-toggle
Copy paste that link into a new tab
and also, make sure you select the correct permissions
if you look in the corresponding css file you will see definitions like for example
.container {
width: 100%;
}
@wise glade
ah, f*** it, lets see how long can I go before absolutely needing to learn this
Hey @glass kettle! I noticed you posted a seemingly valid Discord API token in your message and have removed your message. This means that your token has been compromised. Please change your token immediately at: https://discordapp.com/developers/applications/me
Feel free to re-post it with the token removed. If you believe this was a mistake, please let us know!
oh man, I know what is a css container, but what I'm saying is I don't know what <div class="navbar-header"> would do, except for the fact it has something to do with the navigation bar.
So I'm wondering should I google everytime I see something I don't know, but in this context
import discord
import os
import requests
import json
client = discord.Client(800743802045726733)
def get_quote():
response = requests.get("https://zenquotes.io/api/random")
json_data = json.loads(response.text)
quote = json_data[0]['q'] + "-" + json_data[0]['a']
return(quote)
@client.event async def on_ready():
print("We have logged in as {0.user}.format".format(client))
@client.event async def on_message(message)
if message.author == client.user: return
if message.content.startswith("//inspire"):
quote = get_quote()
await message.channel.send(quote)
client.run(os.getenv("Token"))
it adds a class
yes that is my code
its so addictive
you can reference to that class for several stuff, in css and javascript
response = requests.get("https://zenquotes.io/api/random") Its giving a error
@onyx swift what does navbar-collapse do in <div class="navbar-collapse">?
Did anyone wants to do a quick coding battle on codingame?
It's just a class name
anyone?
yeah, but that class does something specific right?
there's a lot of classes like this, do we have to learn them to do flask?
you have done wrong indentation
Well it adds the class in <div class="navbar-collapse"> but navbar-collapse depends where you put it
bro i am not use to python but i spotted too
If you have used that class anywhere, then you can't remove it, else you can remove it
YEah but what
indent that part
I think I should just go with it for now, see how long can I go
response
a tab
just press the shift key once
for the line
uh?
Why
yeah
It's a dumb question but can anyone tell me how to send these short screeshot?
I use GreenShot
crop the image
click a screen shot and send it?
use windows key + shift + s
you on window? use screen snip
no need for that
win + shift + s
yeah
After than did i have to save that image?
nope
just ctrl+v
copy to clipboard
no such thing as a dumb question
Yup!
OMG
I mean that's what I meant, win + shift + s, it launches screen snip
yeah
Hellp
that button
yup
i think in production if i needed fastapi features, i would just pull expressjs out
and start building an api in express
have you used python before?
@client.event has to be in the previous line
thats a bit rude to ask like that.
laundmo congrats on the helper role!
Thanks!
oh just noticed that, congrats
you deserve it lmao
ExpressJS is fine
@neon sleet That was pretty simple thanks for guiding(for the ss)
in my opinion express is better than fastapi, but both are amazing
there are a lot of great frameworks

very true
I work in the Python unit, so we handle the Python-related projects
I mean as much as JS has warts, you can’t ignore Node performance
But our clients are all major companies and/or governmental organisations

What kind of projects do you make?
thats why i just write in typescript :)
and compile down to js
so i get node speed with a great development experience
I'm currently not detached at the moment, but we're preparing bids on various contracts at the moment
That sounds amazing
Mostly for organisations like the police and the military/DoD
I wanted to learn fastAPI, but couldn't find any good material for it,
but then I read if you learn Flask, skills are transferable, like super easy
very true
hmm

Fauna is the data API of choice for our applications. The rich, versatile feature set helps us build business logic faster. It performs and auto scales irrespective of the load or size of data. aww man google cloud run is kinda epic
every application in any library turned into a serverless function, and you're billed only in terms of time(most of serverless), all in a couple bash commands?
thats kinda epic not gonna lie

maybe i havent done enough research: what service(s)/product(s)?

i really dont want to learn/configure it lol

@rugged root To address your point about the versioning conflicts, the thing about Nix is that the provided packages are "stored" separately in separate directories on the /nix/store directory. If there ever comes a need to use another version of a package, say, something that should be compatible with the current project, Nix would just create a new store directory for that package and use that instead. In terms of releases though, the package index itself is pretty safe from breakage considering that it's not as bleeding-edge as some package managers are.

That makes sense
Also my builds are taking forever; property tests for one of the packages don't seem to be running properly
laundmo really do be enthusiastic about this
Part of his lovely charm
agreed
the rest of his charm is down to his audio post-processing

GH Actions?
Just to compile unit tests that run for 4s on the project's repo
Something's off about my packages I guess
Yep
GH Action Servers are always some servers Microsoft has lying around that no one wants to run real workloads on
hi
and I think they overload them with like 4 workers per core or osmething
sorry I didn't answer right away; I was in the middle of playing a tune, so both hands were occupied

If the build fails again I'll just go and regress into a more stable package set
it also has just as many branches
if not more

Pasting large amounts of code
If your code is too long to fit in a codeblock in discord, you can paste your code here:
https://paste.pydis.com/
After pasting your code, save it by clicking the floppy disk icon in the top right, or by typing ctrl + S. After doing that, the URL should change. Copy the URL and post it here so others can see it.

what are cookies? are they files websites stores in your pc for fast experience and stuff like that?
are they just files with this fancy function
kinda
they store preferences, i think
stonks
They're settings and little info nuggets that a website stores on your computer. It can hold things like your session token so that you can pick up where you were without having to log back in, possibly things like your shopping cart, site preferences like light theme or dark theme, etc.
Most of them have a timeout as well
So some might be like 30 days or something, some shorter, etc.
i thought they lasted as long as they're in the computer
kucing
The files themselves last that long
But they have "expire at" times in them, so that if you log back into the site, it might make you sign back in or something
The cookies themselves do stay around
yeah, google accounts does that, I need to sign in again after a week or something if unused
Jwt have lifespan
