shorting is not a stock
shorting stocks
why are you silent?
well, it's not equity because it's not an asset
actually liability without assets
technically borrowing money from thebank = bad
well, most money is just that
a lot of tax
OOO COMN
your legislation requires paying taxes on any income
whether it's crypto or no doesn't matter
do you have income tax?
on fiat money
then you have income tax on crypto
crypto currency is ban here
its not real mony said the money minister guy

literacy
"everything that can be invented has been invented."
- Charles H. Duell (1899)
yeah he definitly wasnt right
better to understand that as "reinvention is widespread because the communication of innovation is not good enough"
elaborate that a bit bcz i got no idea what your quoted part means
Euler invented Fourier transform
but no one cared
and even when it was needed, no one would be able to check if Euler invented it in a reasonable time
you can't just send a request to SPB (Russia) archives for Euler's notes
because there's no internet
and also
how would you know Euler did that invention
you need qualified people to look through all archives
and communicate with each other to speed up that
they're currently not drafting as much
same for biyearly enlistment
@whole egret
enforcing incarceration would take extra time
they don't want to spend it
who knows
theres waaayyy too many ppl in the internet to analize his specific openion and find him through discord voice
btw my cousin sister just went to russia (mossco uni)
russian authorities force to install forged certificates
whats that
@whole egret
you are less likely to get drafted it you didn't serve
not safe tho
.
leave what
the country
similar to if
ik bash basic stuff
oo
me too but I can do stuff anyway
like, I don't actually need a purpose or a will to do things including innovations
I just kind of do it
innovation is making stuff into better stuff
"feeling dead" is not only because of the danger of being drafted
||(there were death threats even earlier)||
im feeling dead too man aaaa

I have couple hours of experience with pygame
it does use numpy

Skin is essential for thermoregulation. The skin uses blood flow to regulate heat loss from the body. Skin blood flow is regulated by skin temperature, modulated by the temperature of blood flowing to the hypothalamus of the brain. Vasoconstriction can limit skin blood flow to about 10% of baseline. Because skin has minimal metabolic demands, vasoconstriction does not cause ischaemia. Skin blood flow in dependent extremities can also be decreased by immobility.
Vasoconstriction is maximal in the hands and feet at a skin temperature of about 15 °C. When skin cools below 15 °C, cold-induced vasodilation (CIVD) causes periodic increases in blood flow. CIVD, also known as the ‘hunting response,’ takes place in cycles lasting five to ten minutes. The cycles are more rapid and involve larger changes in blood flow in people who have regular, long-duration cold exposure. Inuits, Lapps, and fishermen in Nordic countries generally have strong, rapid CIVD cycles [11]. Theoretically, a vigorous CIVD response may decrease the likelihood of NFCI. In a study of 26 Dutch Marines, the authors concluded that weak CIVD response was associated with high risk of cold injury [12], but this conclusion was based on 11 subjects who subsequently were frostbitten. None of the subjects developed NFCI in follow-up.
Nonfreezing cold injury (NFCI) is a modern term for trench foot or immersion foot. Moisture is required to produce a NFCI. NFCI seldom, if ever, results in loss of tissue unless there is also pressure necrosis or infection. Much of the published material regarding management of NFCIs has been erroneously borrowed from the literature on warm wate...

Hey, can someone help me with a simple python problem? (i think)
what are you working on @lunar haven
so I need to know if im the only one getting an error when trying pip install seleniumwebdriver
I want to know if the error is on my side
can someone try and tell me if they also get an error?
ok i got windows and python 3 installed 2min
can you try?
C:\python3\Scripts>pip.exe install seleniumwebdriver Collecting seleniumwebdriver Downloading SeleniumWebdriver-0.1.4.tar.gz (1.7 kB) Using legacy 'setup.py install' for seleniumwebdriver, since package 'wheel' is not installed. Installing collected packages: seleniumwebdriver Running setup.py install for seleniumwebdriver ... done Successfully installed seleniumwebdriver-0.1.4 WARNING: You are using pip version 21.2.4; however, version 22.3.1 is available. You should consider upgrading via the 'C:\python3\python.exe -m pip install --upgrade pip' command.
worked without error
win10 and py 3.10.2
r u on windows 11?
Is this a rebuild of lossy compression to make the files smaller?
^^ win10
hm
@lunar haven sounds cool man 🙂
@lucid blade can u try again pls?
see if it gives error
pip install SeleniumWebdriver==0.1.5
Good news, my work computer still works. Bad news, I won't be on VC for a while (potentially a few days or over a week) since I'm now smack dab in the middle of the business services hall
Additional bad news, god damn it I just have my one monitor right now
@whole bear What's the error code you're getting?
Might just be that you need the build tools
it's stuck on installing
can you please try and see if you get the same error?
It's not giving you any kind of error, just hanging during the install?
Have you restarted your machine?
yes
Mkay, one sec
pip install SeleniumWebdriver==0.1.5
No. The repo was made only 24 minutes ago, has no links to the source code, and is not from the Selenium team
@lucid blade Make sure you uninstall/get rid of the thing they just had you install
what
What site told you to use that to get the web drivers or what have you
Because that's not how it should be done
i was trying to make selenium project
someone told me to use seleniumwebdriver
for driver
This is where you should be going to get the relevant drivers
I would highly advise against using that particular thing you mentioned
ok
that's awesome
@lunar haven do you have any advice for making UIs in tkinter? or any sources that come to mind
Hey I need help installing skimage I have no idea whats going wrong
@ornate ore
hello
oh its oppaiz opposite
yeah i forgot the real name
@warm mauve did u just join?
pretend the 5 is a 6
anyone know if i should choose python for learning to hack
@safe pumice
@whole bear depends what kind of hacking you want to do i mean i dont know how you would hack using python but there are free programs that take 0 programming knowledge and still fall under the category of "hacking"
To be completely honest I have been watching scammer payback videos and was kind of inspired to learn how it all functions, I know you can just like get someone to click on a link and dox them but like thats not as fun yk
Yeah pythons great
Where would I learn from? YouTube is only so limited in the hacking category for python
Do you know the basics and fundamentals of python?
Yes, I have been using python as a hobby for 4 years, took classes for it for 2 years and I completely understand all the basics, formatting, syntax, ykwim. I have dipped my toes in game dev with pygame and have also made video game cheats. (Edit: The cheats were not hacking, just macros and recoil reducers)
I’ve just searched ‘ethical hacking python’ into google and there seems to be tons of resources available
Should be enough along with yt?
Ahhhh thats a good idea, I will look into it
ok thank you
yes
well
I wonder if you guys could try to help me with a python problem
It's related with pyinstaller
I'm trying to fix this issue for 2 days but I couldn't
i presume theyre busy, ask in #1035199133436354600
ok

When I have an office again
What happened...?
They're having to tear out the drywall and sheet rock, they're going to have to replace the carpet, and the cubicle walls are also FUBAR. We had a pipe burst in our office building. There's 3 office fronts in the building. In our specific office, mine was the only one that really got hit, with some additional wall and carpet damage a few office rooms down. The other two office fronts in the building were also completely damaged.
So right now I'm camping out in our small conference room, which is next to all the business services folks
No idea when all that will be fixed
Cold burst the pipes? Who's on the hook for the preventative maintenance that failed?
/hug
Insurance is going to cover it. Our HVAC folks have been fucking up with the furnace systems lately, so they really dropped the ball this time. It's above my paygrade to deal with all that
It's above my paygrade to deal with all that
/woop woop!
I found it this Monday morning. Spent a lot of time in the far office front squeegeeing out water. They had like 2 inches of standing water there. When I opened their front door, it was like opening a flood gate
But we have folks coming in and taking care of all that jazz. So now it's just hurry up and wait, keep or pitch with stuff that got water on it, etc.
Oh dear. Had spare trousers?
Hmmmmmmmmmm. Sounds okayy, not great
Dear people who are fixing it,
Please fix it fast. We miss Hemlock.
Thank you.
I didn't, but my shoes were already soaked through so I just stopped caring after the first 10 minutes
they are mostly linux tutorials, i have a laptop that runs windows. should i switch to linux?
Getting withdrawal symptoms already?
Yessir
yeah preferably, as they have more features and a better terminal suited for hacking

False
!e a = 1
b = 1
print(a is b)
@tulip plover :white_check_mark: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.
True
because python stores all 1s as one object so the references are also the same
it is like am saying 1 is 1
!e
a = 1234567890 ** 10
b = 1234567890 ** 10
print(a == b)
print(a is b)
@vocal basin :white_check_mark: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | True
002 | False
python decides that it's more efficient to store a and b as two separate objects
(almost) every value in python is an object
and those objects are (almost) always used by reference
in that context you can think of this as one of the meanings of what "object" is
OOP to understand that is not necessary
for now, it's enough to know that variables are references not values

code
!e
a = 1234 ** 10

002 | True
@vocal basin
They both return True when it's only the 4th digit tho. Why is that? If I add a 5th digit then the second one returns False
small values are cached

Hmm. I see
hi
Hi
That does not look like it's matching 💀
this part is off
Yupp
oh
You can see it clear as day 🤣
python2 would say "invalid constant" in some cases instead of pointing to incorrect indentation
I see
still one character off
spaces
delete one space just before elif choice == 'T':
(((also, if you use python 3.10+, you should probably be using match not if-elif-else)))
Lol
using python 3.9
What is match
!d match
8.6. The match statement
New in version 3.10.
The match statement is used for pattern matching. Syntax:
match_stmt ::= 'match' subject_expr ":" NEWLINE INDENT case_block+ DEDENT
subject_expr ::= star_named_expression "," star_named_expressions?
| named_expression
case_block ::= 'case' patterns [guard] ":" block
```...
it still not matching
Howw send code
am gonna try using tabs see if it works
(your IDE looks like Wing if I understand correctly)
I don't even understand the syntax...
If you do that then you'll have to change every space to tabs
!e
for value in ['a', 'b', 3]:
match value:
case 'a':
print('this is the letter a')
case str() as s:
print(f'this is some str {s=}')
case _ as other:
print(f'this is some object {other=}')
@vocal basin :white_check_mark: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | this is the letter a
002 | this is some str s='b'
003 | this is some object other=3
its now lined up
Did you really change everything to tabs
pep8 says spaces are preferred
just left it spaces changing all to tabs would take ages
Lol
Spaces are the preferred indentation method.
Tabs should be used solely to remain consistent with code that is already indented with tabs.
Python disallows mixing tabs and spaces for indentation.
I use tabs because I'm on phone and it's torturous to enter spaces
I think you have to pass an argument into your index function
so like if a condition is true it happens statement in function
cause am using elif and put function in elif
.index(***something***)
@vocal basin did the chicken or the chicken egg come first?
use termux+vim with vim configured to replace tabs for spaces
i wanna know
The chicken
you didn't specify which egg
The chicken
define "chicken egg"
the thing that a chicken comes out of
then by definition the egg was first
The chicken can come out of anything
The chicken. Bruh.
then what laid the egg
im just curious
look again at the "thing that a chicken comes out of" definition
its called a 'chicken egg' since a chicken comes out of it but was it a chicken who laid it
if we assume all chickens are from eggs, we can formally prove that chicken egg as a "thing that a chicken comes out of" was first
if it's "an egg laid by chicken" then the chicken was first
do we really know which one came first in the question?
'the chicken or the egg'
doesn't seem like a good definition
if it's one or other (union), then the egg was first
if it's both (intersection), then the chicken was first
The real question is, which came first, the chicken evolved to lay eggs or the egg of a chicken that evolves to lay eggs
you either accept that chicken can come from non-chicken egg or that chicken egg can come from non-chicken
being able to strictly define and understand these types of constraints is essential for developing system software
ok then if the grandson of a grandpa were to go back in time to shoot his grandpa would his grandpa still be alive or dead?
this question has a lot of potentially contradictory assumptions left out
@somber heath
chickens are dinosaurs formally
all birds are part of dinosaur clade
oh..
Avialae -- part of Paraves -- part of Maniraptora -- part of Maniraptoriformes -- part of Coelurosauria -- part of Tyrannoraptora -- part of Coelurosauria -- part of Avetheropoda -- part of Tetanurae -- part of Averostra -- part of Neotheropoda -- part of Theropoda -- part of Eusaurischia -- part of Saurischia -- part of Dinosauria
this is so long
unlike, the pre-mammal reptile-like things (which were not reptiles), dinosaurs are a clade and include all descendants
reptiles are also not a clade, iirc
i.e. not all dinosaurs are reptiles because birds aren't
(birds are explicitly separated from reptiles)
apparently, like there is a Reptile class as a clade and Reptile class as like "these are reptiles not birds or other stuff"
taxonomy is weird
classes are generally clades
but there can be other ways to call a certain group
this is so weird
Aves is a class
Reptilia is a class
but Aves is a part of Reptilia
then you realize its a dumb monkey trying to make meaning, oftens time there is none to be found.
this could sound very wrong 💀
once upon a time people were heretics and beheaded in the streets for mentioning evolution
there's a lot of confusion about what GB/Gigabyte means
windows thinks GB is 10^9 bytes
linux thinks GiB is 2^30 bytes
the correct term for 1024 bytes is Kibibyte
but using Kilobyte is fine
The byte is a unit of digital information that most commonly consists of eight bits. Historically, the byte was the number of bits used to encode a single character of text in a computer and for this reason it is the smallest addressable unit of memory in many computer architectures. To disambiguate arbitrarily sized bytes from the common 8-bit ...
maths people don't like calling 1024 bytes a kilobyte
because kilo is 1000
so they came up with kibi prefix
also
HDD/SSD producers use maths definition
this is why you don't get 2TiB when you buy a 2TB HDD
(you get 1.82TiB)
you can't put that in PC
there are physical limits
I found this
https://www.statista.com/statistics/638593/worldwide-data-center-storage-capacity-cloud-vs-traditional/
world is probably at around 1% of maximal binary prefix
+- a couple of orders of magnitude
in pcs, i never buy anything thats not a factor of 1024.. as in, it means it has flaws and was formed on a superior flawed or worn die.
what?
yea edited, mistyped
look here
current total capacity of data centres is at several zettabytes
for NSA, it's easier to ask Amazon for servers instead of keeping their own
for most situations
as for processing, CIA/NSA sometimes even partially outsource to universities
guys... hey guys... my ML has solved world hunger.. im so excited to share the news.. it came up with a way to turn plants into meat..
feed plants to cows..
just eat dirt 😂
I mean, they do have their own data centres
but just asking someone to temporarily hand over all customer data is how they usually get enormous volumes of data
noob
the problem mainly is not food amount, the problem is logistics
@vocal basin whats 1375 x 7?
i wanna know
(i know i could use a calculator i just wanna see how smart you are)
I remember what 13*7 is because it's quite frequent
That's the equivalent of 9625 ipads
I'm a mathematician I can't count
there do exist iMac/MacBook datacentres
maybe also iPad ones
to allow to test code on these platforms
also, M1 is quite powerful but is not widely available outside of apple customer products
But if we're being honest the environment for all of those Ipads would have to be huge and the conditions would have to be perfect so they don't get fucked up
object's direct subclasses are not subclasses of any subclass
@somber heath
to create the instance, it's __new__ not __init__
(me being overly formal again)
object.__new__ is usually called
almost all are based on this specific option
well, yes, there is no specific 'method to create an instance', to be fair
new can return a subclass
and
it will run the init of a superclass
so usually in this cases the init is empty
!voiceverify
not enough messages + wrong channel
this is more used one than returning something of a different class, afaik
!d pathlib.Path
class pathlib.Path(*pathsegments)```
A subclass of [`PurePath`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/pathlib.html#pathlib.PurePath "pathlib.PurePath"), this class represents concrete paths of the system’s path flavour (instantiating it creates either a [`PosixPath`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/pathlib.html#pathlib.PosixPath "pathlib.PosixPath") or a [`WindowsPath`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/pathlib.html#pathlib.WindowsPath "pathlib.WindowsPath")):
```py
>>> Path('setup.py')
PosixPath('setup.py')
``` *pathsegments* is specified similarly to [`PurePath`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/pathlib.html#pathlib.PurePath "pathlib.PurePath").
like this
I got spam in DMs
now I should understand how
apparently, they were on this server and already got kicked/banned
you know what
I join their server and flex on this person because they have less experience and dared to spam
yeah, I prefer that also
there are message requests now
they're trying to weasel out of apologising for spam by claiming the socket-puppet account offered to advertise
- it's funny
- I'm wasting their time also
some tiktok account
iirc, phrase "I love undertime slopper" is the promotion of that account which now is a meme
tiktok poses some actual dangers due to unregulated (or, rather, misregulated) algorithm
the algorithm is also impacted by Chinese influence
now I'm asking them hard questions like "what databases do you provide integration with"
there is Common SQL but it's quite weak
waltuh whit
remembered that quote:
-- when someone tries to improve a standard, what do you get?
-- a better standard? two standard?
-- NO STANDARD.
I'm not even going to provide options to choose from
I still have not a single reason to believe they even know how to open an IDE
I'm laughing at my own response; it's such a mean thing to say to someone who believes they can make reliable production software despite it being otherwise;
there is also weird class scope
called namespace, iirc
oh
understood
why subclass list?
why not store three fields
and do __iter__ if you need
nvm
it's about different
!d collections.UserList
class collections.UserList([list])```
Class that simulates a list. The instance’s contents are kept in a regular list, which is accessible via the [`data`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/collections.html#collections.UserList.data "collections.UserList.data") attribute of [`UserList`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/collections.html#collections.UserList "collections.UserList") instances. The instance’s contents are initially set to a copy of *list*, defaulting to the empty list `[]`. *list* can be any iterable, for example a real Python list or a [`UserList`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/collections.html#collections.UserList "collections.UserList") object.
In addition to supporting the methods and operations of mutable sequences, [`UserList`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/collections.html#collections.UserList "collections.UserList") instances provide the following attribute:
I'm gonna do something even worse
hello
I'm gonna say "we're contracted to use <database name> for all projects we deploy"
with database being the most obscure option I have
it'd be quite a meme to actually pay them to find out what they make out of that
it will directly benefit me because I will get data on how much people are able to learn my self-made database
but I have literally no ways of paying them, so my wallet is saved
