For the syntax highlighting? It supports a whole list of different languages, but I don't know if they're documented anywhere.

!paste We host a hastebin is the only reason I say it
Pasting large amounts of code
If your code is too long to fit in a codeblock in Discord, you can paste your code here:
https://paste.pythondiscord.com/
After pasting your code, save it by clicking the floppy disk icon in the top right, or by typing ctrl + S. After doing that, the URL should change. Copy the URL and post it here so others can see it.

you know CrossCode?
TF2, Portal, Binding of Isaac, Nuclear Throne, CS:S, Half-Life 2, etc.
^hmm
so my recs would be

- Celeste - sidescrolling platformer (it has really nice movement mechanics)
- Reassembly - top-down spaceship/fleet builder where you design your own ships
as for more FPS games, Titanfall2 is surprisingly playable thanks to northstar.tf, a custom server and mod loader
Hi hi all. 🙂
It goes.
You're the only one who knows.
Maybe you also know
Much is possible.
It is indeed
How sure are you? How sure can any of us be?
I think it's more complex than that.
!d complex
class complex(real=0, imag=0)``````py
class complex(string, /)```
Return a complex number with the value *real* + *imag**1j or convert a string or number to a complex number. If the first parameter is a string, it will be interpreted as a complex number and the function must be called without a second parameter. The second parameter can never be a string. Each argument may be any numeric type (including complex). If *imag* is omitted, it defaults to zero and the constructor serves as a numeric conversion like [`int`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/functions.html#int "int") and [`float`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/functions.html#float "float"). If both arguments are omitted, returns `0j`.
For a general Python object `x`, `complex(x)` delegates to `x.__complex__()`. If `__complex__()` is not defined then it falls back to `__float__()`. If `__float__()` is not defined then it falls back to `__index__()`.

i have a question for the group, what is the most pen pushing job/job you can be lazy in in tech?
cyber security? data science?
which job do you feel like isnt as busy as alot of others? Or that really depends on your position and the company?
what do you do?
Gantt charts?

Thank you. 🙂
do you think data science would be a busy job?
I have graduated 🙂
@somber heath sorry
Last july
All good.
like after you learn to do /use the software, represent the data graphically/section it off? and use the tools? wouldnt it be easy after that?
couldnt you make anything show anything?
and argue anything for anything you wanted/tried to represent?
Btw hi @frosty star ..
@mild quartz you do data science?
so could you have a math degree, or a masters degree in math? And do data science?
since you guys keep talking about math
yes you can
but you need to have strong statistics/analytics knowledge
and be strong programmer at least in python
Ok so do you enjoy the job?
do you feel like its busy? Or once you have 5 years experience its kind of repetitive because youve seen every single data set imaginable? and have an idea of how to display it /what you want to do with it?
Nope doesn't get repetitive
a particular role might
but there are so many varied opportunities

So, should you delete those old emails?
Of course the answer is yes, but why?
There are a number of factors that go into the impact that email and retention of email has on the environment. Some are:
Energy to run the hard drive
Energy for the backup of the hard drive system
Energy to keep the drives cool
Energy and resources it takes to manufacture drives, cables, computers, data centers, etc.

Following this the former Planning Commission (renamed Niti Aayog) Deputy Chairman, Montek Singh Ahluwalia had plans to officially recognise tea as the Indian "National Drink" in 2013. Accor...
This video is about How To Make Chai -Indian Tea!
Perfect to drink in the mornings, evenings, or when sick!
This is perfect for tea lovers! -FYI: This is a northern punjabi style tea.

I was wondering how exactly *variable works in python
as in it's implementation.
def f(*a):
return a

mysum(1,2,3)
mysum(1,2,5,6,7)
alright
def add(*numbers):

print(add(2, 3, 5, 7))

tuple
right
let me ask this, first,*names=name.split()
this will allocate first to the first string and all of them to the tuple ?
k,(a,b,c)=[1,2,3,45]
but then this looks invalid tho
!e
x = [*range(10)]
print(x)
a, *b, c, d = x
print(a, b, c, d)

@night sparrow :white_check_mark: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.
1 2 3
kind of making sense
There is also ** operator but for dict spreading
basically my question was how analogus is first,*names=name.split() to k,(a,b,c)=[1,2,3,45] ?
will this run without error k,(a,b,c)=[1,2,3,45] ?
yes, i got an error
can you please elaborate
k, (a, b, c) = [1, [2,3,4]]
k, a, b, c = [1, 2, 3, 4]
so isn't *names same as a tuple ?
as it returns a tuple
how do i check the type() ?
^
const [...rest, item] = [1,2,3,4]
!e
a, *b = (1, 2, 3, 4)
print(a, b)
@lavish rover :white_check_mark: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.
1 [2, 3, 4]
what exactly is *range(10) ?
so a list inside a list ?
right
so essentially *a is sort of a operator and type(a) can be a list or tuple ?
so using it in left means an assignment
and it will give me a list
List
!e
def foo(*a): print(type(a))
foo(1, 2, 3)
I encountered this today in the syntax of print
@lavish rover :white_check_mark: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.
<class 'tuple'>
print(*objects, sep=' ', end='\n', file=sys.stdout, flush=False)
This is the syntax i encountered in the documentation
x = (1, 2, 3) # or a generator
print(*x)
print(1, 2, 3)
y = [*x]
y = [1, 2, 3]
import turtle
mypen = turtle.Pen
myscreen = turtle.Screen()
def moveto(x,y):
print(x,y)
mypen.goto(x,y)
mypen.dot(10)
myscreen.onclick(moveto)
turtle.done()
can somebody help me with this
#❓|how-to-get-help @vapid elbow
the reason why we have different means has straight consequence to how compiler will read it ?
As I work in a huge level of abstraction I always wonder what going inside
!d dis
Source code: Lib/dis.py
The dis module supports the analysis of CPython bytecode by disassembling it. The CPython bytecode which this module takes as an input is defined in the file Include/opcode.h and used by the compiler and the interpreter.
oooooh
I can get a general appreciation
a bytecode is essentially the compilation part of python right ?
how do i run a py code here?
!e ```def myfunc(alist):
return len(alist)
@sacred elm :warning: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.

thanks
I would like to see how can I see the bytecode equivalent of the above defined function
!e
def foo(*a): print(a)

x = dis.dis(foo)
print(x)

let me comprehend
it's actually so much pleasure seeing this
else everything is magic lol
I wanted to experience the low level and compiler aspects, so I can appreciate how simple stuff is in high level
ooooh
that's very interesting
How long was this project for ?
I actually just got into the whole idea of programming. so kind of long way to go
I'm basically a math major so it's natural for me to deduce any abstraction to it's first principle level
indeed
math has whole different meaning to abstraction
but then yeah serves the purpose
exactly
I really respect you, surely is a person I would totally consider as a role model
lol
haha
I'm second year
It's in India
south; kerala
The school is pretty decently prestigious here in India
I dont want to go into programming actually
I recently got interested into mathematically aspects of computer science
like theory of computation, complexity
yes, i recently got exposed so not knowledgeable
but It keep intact of math sanity
I would definitely like machine learning but people it's too much of a buzz
but I like it's theoretical aspects
exactly
I worked recently on a problem of extension of linear spaces from R^2
essentially a document distance problem
where you compute the inner product of two arbitrary n dimensional vectors
as if it was only CS, it would be straight tokenizing then making a word to vector
but the math aspect it way to great, as if we got from 2d to other d. It address questions like what does it even mean to represent a n dimensional vector
Thanks for the help again
oooh
I joined recently
like few days

oooh
how exactly is unpacking happening ?
sort of a one to one from the assigned variables to the list
!e
((a, b), (c, d, e)) = [(1, 2), {3, 4, 5}]
print(a, b, c, d, e)
@lavish rover :white_check_mark: Your 3.11 eval job has completed with return code 0.
1 2 3 4 5
so extending what I understood *a is same as unpacking sort of dynamically and a specifically will return me a tuple which is sort of analogous to (a,b,c) to above code
names,*a=[1,2,3,4]
so it will be names=1 and a=[2,3,4] ?
first, *_ = some_list
mbb
precisely
sorry to ask a lot of questions
just getting myself in
I feel like programming is sort of using mobile phone, no matter how many years you use phone you will not understand how it works, similarly programming is just one level down
exactly
I mean the way it's built is to make it work the that
like the high level programming is taken all way from it's nuances
let me see
i should open \render
it looks real
haha
I've heard something similar in a 3b1b video
talked a pixar guy who used quadratic equation to render something similar
where i can see some of the math in it ?

in python yes
Not professional, know some fundamentals of C/C++
I'm actually a math student
i enjoy computer science as well
totally ok
I can understand you perfectly

Yes, I wanted to do some math with python
like some analysis, statistics
not exactly
but wanted to try some of it
I wanted to mainly work in math if possible
Do i know what?
Analysis ?
I can't say I know lot of math, but im doing my undergraduate in math
I enjoy math
