No offense to other translators, but as the only proofreader of the Russian language, I must say.

I totally disagree with the current translation system. Due to the fact that a person cannot make transfers on his own, he has to wait for upvotes (which are terribly rare) or look at what other users have suggested. In 90% of cases, the translations that users offer are fundamentally incorrect.

If you are afraid that mistakes will be made during the self-approval of your own translation, choose a proofreaders more carefully and responsibly.

Otherwise, I have no idea how I can continue to translate the Russian language. The server users have no motivation to translate and, accordingly, with a 99.9% probability, I will not get a second proofreader who can check my translations.

I know that this issue was already under discussion and you decided not to change anything - but you also understand me, for the topgg team and me, in any case, its a huge minus that languages ​​with less than 2 proofreaders stagnate.

Short, easy to translate strings can be self-approved as per the guidelines. The same would apply as a proofreader if you know the approved translation is incorrect, you can submit a correct translation and approve it. Feel free to open an issue on any translations from proofreaders that were approved incorrectly so they can be flagged.

That's the issue as well, if we'd allow ANY proofreader to just proofread their own translations, this just basically removes the sense of what crowdsourcing is, aswell as causes wrong translations to be pushed onto the site.

As I previously said iirc, we wouldn't do crowdsourcing if we do not want the community to participate on translations aka contribute things onto the site. That was essentially the goal of the crowdin translations.

Seeing how translations and proofreading are steadily dropping, this might no longer be possible.

I do understand your frustration with people just using translators, if you're 100% certain they do, just report them to us or remove their translations.

I just generally don't think we will get any more good translators for proofreading since community is not interested - a discord role is bad motivation for making that amount of impact

Translations are not that easy and it takes effort and dozens of time to do, at least translating Eng to Rus is kinda hard because russian has 1000 meanings to almost every eng word, even if we speak about "excuse" word, it could be translated 6 different ways and the guy who translates it needs to get the context, find the correct word and its declension while maintaining all spelling and punctuation rules and only then fully translate the sentence

Therefore, shiv and I often asked for context - because one sentence can have dozens of interpretations.

1. Increase engagement - new users enter the server without understanding what is this channel and what it is responsible for. Create a separate category with a channel that will explain what it is, how it works and what goodies you can get (like #580510490074152961 )

2. Make motivation - you already have a great example of how you implemented this with votes - add credits for the auction or other features to those who really contribute to this community branch

3. Get people interested - the last publication that this thing even exists was in May, many are accustomed to forget that it turns out that you can not only add bots here

4. Redesign the system for selecting and working for proofreaders - just sending a bunch of translations and submitting an application is like doing a test task at an interview at random and getting a job when the tough specialists are left behind. You already have proven proofreaders for almost every language - ask them to check the knowledge of the candidate and already on their feedback decide whether to hire a person or not.

5. Allow proofreaders to approve their own translations. Users are lazy and no one will sit and upvote ready-made translations - people are interested in doing translations on their own, and a proofreader cannot just translate and wait 2 million years for his translation at least someone to upvote. Prohibiting approval of your translations does not protect you from incorrect translations, I would even say that it increases the risk of getting even more incorrect translations due to the fact that we cannot approve our own ones.

6. Pin a SPECIFIC ONE PERSON who will make decisions on this community branch. Constantly having 33 people who will collectively make decisions for centuries is inconvenient for you and for us. If the responsible person is mistaken, colleagues will tell him about it.

To add on to this, as Pacmard already mentioned, it would be preferred that context be clear from the very start instead of having to try and find someone to ask. I have worked in a team where the developer would provide context like that and we barely had any misunderstandings in the process as translators.

I suggest that before rolling out translations, examples or detailed explanations for strings are added no matter how obvious the sentence/word may sound.

Done alle the missing translations for German. I replaced most of the links endings with /example as some have a weird ending. If it is intended that some example links re-direct to TopGG I will change that
