What are credits?

• If enough people vote for your bot or server per month, you have the ability to earn vote credits that you can then use for auctions.

How does the system work?

• Each month, bot monthly votes reset (midnight UTC).
• If you get 100 votes on your bot in the month, you can redeem $15 worth of voting credits (note: you can’t redeem till you actually get 101 votes).
• Any vote after 100 will be worth $1 per 1000 votes (or $.001 per 1 vote)

How do I redeem them?

Saving the data from the webhook is the best way

Doing API calls every time you need a user's data will result in you getting rate limited as you scale to more users.

Even caching api requests doesn't mean the data is correct. If a user votes your cache won't update. That's why using a webhook to send the data to your bot is the best solution. You should save it to a database as a best practice (so add a vote count or vote streak column to your users table and then do value+1 every time you receive a webhook payload for them)

The best way is to set up a separate process from your bot running express and use that to receive the webhook payloads and save the data to your db. That way if your bot goes down for any reason people will still have their vote rewards counted since it doesn't rely on the bot being online.

I have some weird system rn where my bot's express api is private (i made it so you can't access that port of the server from outside), so top.gg calls my dashboard's api, and dashboard api calls my bot's api at the moment. I don't use external caching, which means it might be better to have it on the bot's process, so i can cache database data for votes (when I update, i update cache and database, but to get the votes, which i might need to do often, i can get from cache with like 10min ttl)

Would it be a good idea to double check with api call to top.gg if i counted the votes right every like 7 days or something when a user requests it?

No need to make API calls if your saving the data from the webhook. My bot gets 8k - 10k votes a month and this is how I do it. Never been an issue for me.

hiya, I'm having an issue where I just do not see my server pop up when searching via tags (specifically 'anime')? I'm somewhat confused how top.gg is choosing to show servers, because it's fairly large and would normally be near the top if it was sorted by size but even if it's random it's just not there. The new coding change to voting is extremely agonizing, forcing people to wait for 5 seconds and then the Vote button not allowing people to vote after 5 seconds.

Vote button doesn't light up after 5s. Fix this asap. I have a dozen servers/bots to vote and this is excruciating. Top.gg used to be the easiest to vote while Discord Bot list was the worse. Now it's the opposite.
