Depends how many ads I have running
Except the captcha ofc
Umm top voted?
Gg
Last week I was net-gaining about 250 to 350 per day overall but that includes organic Top.gg and Discord invites.
Ohh wow that's nice! My bot grew from 100 to almost 400 just in 2 weeks
So am happy for what am spending fr
Lol yeah
There isnt really a good slot for my bot so I just bid on moderation. I end up getting around 4% cpm but also 3-4 servers for 3k impressions lol
I tried on homepage slots too but I had a similar experience
Known issue, someone is working on it already
. . . I had to wait a week
Btw nice bot
They are resetting it . . . I also lost around 92 π₯²
slow , mine was in 31 minutes
lol thats good
thanks, im hoping ads will actually pay off this time as opposed to beholder that i cant make grow at all
i think with beholder people just see the term "AI" and think "oh god its gotta be another chatgpt clone" when it isnt
but with seven spells, everyone loves a discord RPG bot
just hope the site stays up this time lol
top.gg site i mean
Yeah mine is ai too but better . . . Ofc not chatgpt lmao
Creating characters like kpop idols, anime characters, etc.
Thanks to topgg fr for helping me reach the servers it is at rn
I got many more joins to my bot by putting an ad into triviabots page for it
Yeah lol u can use trivia to grow this one
I still think it's weird that discord consider 75 servers as a big bot
True it's has came to a level where it should increase it
My new bot is in 450+ servers but still not feeling satisfied lol
I just know it will reach 100k someday
It has potential but i have budget issues to promote it a lot
Currently all ads have 10%+ ctr except the top voted
Trying to find some youtuber to do proper promo
top.gg ads don't do what they used to though
when I ran my first ads on triviabot I had about 300 servers, after one week of ads I was nearing 5000
for about $70 of ads
that just doesn't happen any more with CPM, the only ones to benefit are top.gg
I went all the way to like 75000 just on top.gg ads
the rest through discord putting me on front page of the application directory and in townhall
Bro fr at one time i almost got 200 joins and now only like 40 π₯²π₯²
Wow bro π₯Ή lol and look at me . . . I am literally paying for slots whole week
Ohh wow thats good
But trivia is doing amazing fr
I hope i am able to reach there with gemini
I'm likely to get more growth on ssod though it's a bot with wider appeal, a moderation bot like beholder only appeals to people who are setting up
It deserves it bcs of the idea
you can invite an RPG bot any time
Umm very true ssod has potential fr i saw it
did you play it at all
Nope just saw the page and saved it to my check later list
I surf top.gg and booklist bots to check later
ssod will take off most when there are many people on at same time
π₯² am weird . . . Tracking and knowing other bots ik
because that's when people will be able to pvp
That time is when us wakes up
Most joins are from us
Ohh you mean that way! True yeah
Have you tried promoting on other platforms? Like youtube or tiktok?
what do you use to make your bots?
Python
It gets join in long term . . . Got me 100 servers
who's channel though
I use other tactic π i focus on particular community and bring them in
Personal
nobody would find a video on my 100 followers yt channel
Example focus on kpop and bring them in
You have youtube ads too bro
Target audience
I've been going to other RPG bots community and name dropping my bot
I was up to 60 servers this way before top.gg even listed it
You have support server for trivia?
yes .gg/brainbox
Umm yeah disboard also helps to trigger particular tags
How many members?
2600 ish
Use that to promote new one then
already did
Ohh good
Ohh thats good
What?
join .gg/bot
it's not my server, but I paid someone to let me make their first channel an ad for my bot lol
tons of people join this server every day
it has 11000 members
Ohh wow i saw that
Umm how much?
I think we shouldn't talk this here . . .
Dms maybe?
Lol ofc uk someone
Open for more? Ask
why are people bidding at like $60 per mille on front page trending new?
it makes absolutely no sense! you only get 414 clicks out of the 229k views on that page
and no page is worth $60 per 1000 views
i dont think people understand how CPM works, the only ones who benefit here is top.gg and its a bit immoral dont you think?
it's not really immoral if that's what's someone is willing to pay
but I do agree the auction system takes a minute to get used to
i once suggested a popup for really bad CPMs and the feedback post got deleted
proof it existed
I mean it's not like all of the money made is just kept and not re-invested back in the site
so the more money made, the better the site can become
...are you sure
i been here a LONG time, and not much has changed tbh except more ads shown to voters, more downtime, and less benefit from us paying for ads
pretty sure medal has publicly said that top.gg subsidises a lot of their running costs
so it gets invested in to medal not top.gg
3 years ago, i ran an ad on the gaming tag, i got 6000 new servers on my bot from it, in a WEEK. i paid $100 + tax.
does that happen now? at that price point? no it does not. but top.gg make bank.
i feel like auctions was better when it was approval only
same.
prevented bids people didn't want to pay for
people have gamified auctions
it just meant that only legit bids from people who know how ads work were there
What has Top.gg to do with this though?
We only provide the platform, this has always been the case, and everything else is basically up to you
imo its partially because of the amounts being bidded on the site
you don't get as good value for money because you're competing against someone bidding something stupid like $60@$100
from google:
Recent research shows that the average CPM for Google Display Ads is $3.12, Google Display Ads is $38.40, and Facebook Ads is $8.60.
If one can pay for it, it's their right to do so
Faulty bids can happen all the time, that's kind of the downsite of Auctions, but on the other hand one can't blame the platform for it
If you participate in Auctions, we assume you've read how it works. If you did not, it's not on Top.gg
If you're exceeding your limit, to stay on top, because someone bids higher than you it's not on Top.gg either. If they're not paying and you're the second one: Congrats, you're luck! :D
i feel like they don't know how auctions works
which is why in the past a few people (me included) have suggested warnings or smth for CPMs that are stupid high
The articles are perfect for beginners though. I was a fresh Auctions users as well at some point and got how it works after like a few minutes of reading
but the articls aren't promoted on the auctions site
Either people don't want to understand or really did not read how it works
you only get sent the articles if you ask here and someone sends you the link or a mod uses the tag
I was about to say it's linked at https://auctions.top.gg/overview
It's not on https://auctions.top.gg/, agreed, but that should not be the first place for you anyway if you really want to get familiar with things
but when you login you don't see that screen, you have to go out of your way to find it which idk
We do understand that a lot of people aren't really knowledgable when bidding and have plans to change the "introduction" to auctions when we overhaul the system
onboarding
The onboarding to auctions process
not trying to cause any argument or drama, i just think the quality of auctions has decreased because people not aware of how the system properly works are bidding which is affecting other bidders
We also have plans to force a card on file before bidding in the future
for verification purposes
so less people that bid and dont pay
awesome π
please please please for the love of the flying spagetti monster, do this
this would be whickkid sschweet awesome
The current plan is to stablize the main site as much as possible, fix some of the largest bugs on the main site, and then move to rewriting auctions
sigh are we really doing the "bid in the last minute and bump it up" thing again
I hate auctions when it's like this
:p
FFS.
it's gone 7, stop bidding lol
this isn't ebay
you can't bid snipe
people best pay up for their silly bids on top voted slot 1
it's inflating all our prices.
Totally Agree
I just can't bid at the last moment lol
Same
Just got 2k impressions
its over
Whole week wasted
Lol
i have until tomorrow to pay if i've won an auction right?
F it fr this week
bruh
They need to fix this
ye
ok ππ»
I didn't get any impressions
Because I was not able to bid at the last moment
$800 on a discord bot is crazy π
fair plays tho msut be rich
fr
Imagine waiting for the bid for a week but at the last moment you cant
How it's feel
Yup
Same here
I was like watching each and every bid for whole week
Each fav slot
And at last moment the bots wont load like fr kidding me
Anyway Nthing to do Until the site fix
I reloaded and its gone
well, they definitely pay from premium subs
What's the point of watching it the entire week? Just set an alarm for 10 mins before auction ends
True
Same man same
To see what bids are done and how competitive ppl can be
Excitement
lol
Yeah nerds us
bro the new auction just started and ppl r betting $18 CPM tf
yeah like what
wtf is a chegg tag
ya fuck that lol
im capping 5 max
looks like a fake acc
why would someone bid with a fake acc?
that high aswell
well it doesn't ask u for a payment method before bidding
...
How did it go so far?
20k - 0 clicks
clicks will often depend on how attractive your ad/page is to click
YES, but 20k for 0 clicks is totally insane!
i got to speak up.... this is lunacy
whoever this is.... youre wasting your money
youre going to get a fraction of 442 clicks, and youre paying $40 for it plus tax
from that you might get a couple of invies, is one person inviting your bot worth $20? think about that for a few, let it sink in
either someone isnt aware how this works, or the system is being trolled.
happy to share mine so far:
this has resulted in ~200 invites. not as strong a result as top.gg used to give
Well tho ngl I think the discord app page doesn't really help
And it surprise me that discord still hasn't monetized their app page
if they did it would be out of all our reach
except possibly for mee6, Dyno, and dank memer
but dank memer isn't on app directory
how much did u pay for the front page top voted slot 1 if u dont mind me asking?
200 ish
the other slots didn't do anything
but they cost me like $2
I don't recommend bidding on "most voted"
Agreed
But that depends
If you have really amazing description people invite it
But yeah i had two promos which were total waste
Like fr 0 clicks
But one had ~100
What slot is the 15% πΆ
Thats good ctr
And this is how you waste your money
@hard escarp check this bro
5$ CPM for slot 2 π
Music 2#
Ohh music really returns but high cpm
I have a music bot and bfr 6 months did a promo
Got 200 clicks for abt 3k
Yeah it is nice
And my ad isnt that wow tho
why wasting so much money
like
WHY
like them why would you waste so much for so little impressions and most importantly CLICKS
They dont understand how cpm workπ
Yeah
Every time I see that I'm like dude stop you're fking the auction for everybody
Nah just claim ur impressionsπ doesn't matter when
problem is top.gg won't do anything
they don't care all they care about is money when it comes to auctions
if someone places a stupid bid at $50 for 1000, that is good for them so long as it's paid
it's NOT GOOD for the rest of us and is a short term gain as it will drive us all away
in short if app directory ever adds monetised ads, top.gg will be in trouble
Indeed
But yeah the only reason they are still alive is the fact that discord app need the bot to be verified and that they don't do ads
Lol have you tried using the app directory? It sucks.
I don't understand it either
I just throw two numbers at it and hope it does something
working so far
end users don't care or know any better, remember we are the technical minority and we don't sometimes see it through users eyes. they see a built in search and listing facility and don't know, or search further. they dont think to Google
I'd argue the contrary tbh. Most people Google any time they don't know how to do something. If you're a new user wondering how to add a bot to your server, you'll Google it first.
Are we even able to access app directory on mobile app?
Yes and if you watch a video asking you to go check app directory π
They explained it well in the website
Only if you're on the front page
nobody goes any further than the front page
same as nobody looks any further than front page of top.gg any more
no on top.gg the majority of traffic comes through google
something you don't get with the app directory
most people don't type "top.gg" into their address bar
they google "fun discord bots" etc
most people dont google for discord bots
they find out via word of mouth or see them on other servers
its a domino effect
auctions stats say otherwise
the more servers youre on the more you get
it's both
my traffic is 50:50 split between top.gg and native in-app invites through the "add to server" button on my bot's discord profile
gonna try this

Dang that's one hell of a technic
How even do they decide who gets put on the front page of the app directory?
this weeks bid is a lot better than last weeks for some reason
lets hope i didnt just jinx it π
Ngl it's the first time I bid on topgg but like how bad were they
well for a small tag , ppl were bidding $5 cpm, but i dont think anyone that bidded that acc paid tho, in my case they didnt
and im talking about a tag that only gets 6k impression
0% rate for 20k impressions is insane. Regular ads in general (not just Top gg) run around a bare minimum of 1% / 1000. Thats like the advertising equal of being a shooting range and missing every single shot. Absolutely dumb founding how not even pure accidents didn't get them any clicks.
The statistics of that is like, lottery levels, to be that bad, from what I understand from an advertising perspective.
Maybe it's In a category that makes no sense for the bot so people don't click since they are not interested
Yeah, they must've fucked something up to have that many impressions without so much as a clueless, lost user, clicking their product page.
Yeah
Like me personally I choose the things that make sense or just doesn't have any "category"
Like the main page the votes and etc
I posted BS categories for my bot, because I just wanted to skip the queue, & I thought I'd have a week to flush things out, lmao.
I didn't even finish writing it yet, & it got approved the same day I submitted it.
I need to update my bot page, and push some changes tonight.
Well luckily I had most things finished but yeah the first day it got approved
I had to rush alot of shit like the emojis and all
Half of modules weren't even updated when they approved it, I'm actually astounded it passed, first try too.
The bar for quality must be super low.
Yeah
Well I think they just check if it's a fork with low modifications and if the bot is on
I mean to be fair, most people doing Discord application work, are kids just getting into programming. So it makes sense in a way.
Yeah but there are discords for those people yk
Uhum.
So yeah
two ways:
firstly, partner bots which are approached by discord and have a business relationship, these bots get early access to stuff not even us lib devs know of. e.g. midjourney
secondly, bots that discord staff have just encountered and really like get a chance to be featured. I got triviabot on there twice this way, and i know of a friend who was on there twice too
no, i got some like this, where it makes no sense at all!
the system for recording impressions is a bit broken because of caching
like
my bot is a rpg bot
its been on this category apparently since weds morning
and 0 impressions, somehow 6 clicks? what?
and, when i checked, its not ACTUALLY there.
then theres this one, 1500 impressions at auction, it just stopped at 646 and hasnt increased
but clicks keeps increasing
they simply arent able to accurately measure clicks, i think this is to our advantage
I see, ty for the response.
So we may get more for our money
Yeah
im not bidding front page this coming week
its been completely ruined by complete morons bidding $20 cpm
Yeah
I'm pretty sure the dude ain't going to pay and if he is I don't know where he get the money but tf
I'm gonna sit and watch what happens. I'm going to make note of all these bots and see what ones turn up on ads
Yeah
I'm legit going to go to their support servers and ask them Why the hell you doin that
i dont think they understand that they could get like 5x the impressions with the same budget
bro what π
2 idiots bidding
that has to be the worst bidding ive seen yet
and now cause of t hem the minimum bid is $2.75 ffs
anyone knowe how to find someone who bidded actual page?

you'll have to monitor #bids
if you pay more then $5 a 1k you actually wilding
For now, that may change with Gen Z. I was shocked to hear they are more often looking up shit in TikTok than Google.
π
worst investment ever
look here
and u call these idiots π ?
$10 for 1k impressions is nearly as bad π
wish.com
its a small tag aswell only 500 clicks for 9k impressions so hes probs gonna get like 50 clicks
i did those last week
what category
fortnite π
sheeeeesh
gonna spend $20 on this bid but theres some guy thats taking all the impressions from the tags i want π
doubt hes acc gonna pay so im gonan bid under him on all of them and hope i win
it is not about winin:)
what is the second ad slot name?
music 2#
which tags
1# top voted slot 2 (7/10)
2# music tag slot 2 (super cool 7/10)
3# front page slot 2 (i rate this 0/10 i don't recommend it at all)
it looks like tbh most morons this week are on the first tag that comes up when they log in to auctions
the one that has like 420 clicks a week lol
it might be ok this week, we will see
is this you? ...
ok lol
thats someone elses investment
just watch this
i will never be that dumb π
it's throwing money into the wind not investment
fr
luckily they all just bid on first auction that comes up
which gets no clicks
because it's below the fold

half of them dont pay tbh
someone took all the impressions in all the tags i wanted this week π
you can see where I started the ad campaign around 14th July
yeah this is just the raw SQL view in phpmyadmin
my pretty graphs have a cutoff of a year
so I had to delve
in effect, top.gg ads are 3x more expensive than 2020, and for that price run for 15x less time
but each day you get, gives the same number of servers it used to
according to this and what I paid
decided to remove the image
probably not best to show people as it was, I'll repost raw data
there
Everything was cheaper 4 years ago my man
Anyone know why I can't bid at 1.00 when someone bids there first with $3? Why do I have to increase my rate to 1.25 when there are 100k more impressions available? Geniune question. Thanks.
based on the screenshot theres only 454 impressions available?
if your bid were to knock someone off the leaderboard/cause them to get 0 impressions then you have to increment the 25 cents
Thres 250k total impressions available and there are only bids on ~80k
and you were trying to bid 1@1 ?
yep, didn't let me, but let Gemini do it
gemini was probably the very first bid
So?
it should let you bid at 1 if there are impressions left, but it probably isnt logically detecting that
its likely something on our side
I see
so it let gemini because they were there first, but its not letting others because it thinks itll kick them off
ill bring it up to an engineer and see if we can look into it and figure out if thats the case
Thank you!
thank you for pointing it out
Sorry for bothering, another question, when do the minimum bids reset?
Minimum bid for this spot was 1.62 last time, looks like it reset to 1.00
every week the min bid is based upon the highest cpm bid from the last week
lowest 1 dollar, highest 5

i think its the last weeks highest cpm divided by 4
dang next week its going to be high af
with all those mf who bid high as hell
oh wait i read it wrong
dang im tired
Will be atleast 5
Hi, can someone expain how these actions work? I cannot find a general run down anywhere or how to get started.
first you select where you want your bots ads to appear, pick from the drop down; you choose how much per 1000 views to pay, thats the first figure. then you choose what your budget is that is the 2nd figure
so if you put $2 @ $100 that means you want $100 worth of views, at $2 per 1000
its important not to put the first number too high or you dont get value for money
ideally you want the first number as low as you can get away with while still winning the auction, and the 2nd as high as you can afford in your budget
also pay close attention to the number next to the mouse pointer icon on each category
this is how many clicks the category gets per week
if it says like 100 clicks, this isnt worth it, look at another
yeah and make sure that your bot makes sense in the category you choose
if you have a gaming bot dont try auctioning on the music category
and, that your short description is good, that is your pitch, if it sucks people wont invite, e.g. if it says "this bot is better than mee6" or something
Stake crash
stake crash? whats that, a bunch of vampire hunters driving without due care and attention?
How helpful is this tho? Do people actualy see their bots being used more?
Omg , thanks for the information man
It was quite useful since I had the same doubt

Yes sed
Look at kpop tag slot 1
10$ cpm π
Fools with big pockets
what am i even seeing rn
fools. they dont have big pockets
they're just dumb
like a dude in the musica tag legit raised the price to 6.38
for nothing basically
$7 for 2193 impressions π
i dont get why they can bid when they put a lesser max spendable while putting a huge per 1000
like im putting a god damn 50$ and this mf put a 8$ as the budget and a .05 cents more per 1k and he outbids me
it's CPM bidding only, budget is not really relevant
for instance I prefer putting an exact budget on a slot as apposed to $50 since it gives me control over what I actually pay in context of extra impressions
mhm
AYO TF 2K
we lost
who ?
this week's auctions have been an absolute joke again
indeed
on that note, I do hope they add back the votes until the end of the month because otherwise I'm not making it to 101 I guess π
we're freelance bot developers.... for discord. what do you expect my man
wth 2k dollars
some professional courtesy, I don't make my sites unreliable like this
especially not the bits that take payments
yeah I call bullshit lol
ishhh
the thing is
to have 2k budget
he needs to be approved tho
so
i dont think its bullshit
when credits gonna expire ?
31 days from when you claimed them
he covered front page too demmm
I can go up to $5K without any sort of additional approval (not that I'm ever planning to)
Anyone that was approved before auctions went free for all was at 5k
those that started after auctions was open to all start at 100
But specifically that customer is legitimate and has purchased several auctions before
dang

well yeah but as Xiuh says, I started at $100 and every successful week doubled that limit (I think)
something wrong tith the model that if one gets distracted at the wrong few minutes a week of bidding is useless
set a reminder every week and you'll be fine π
i'll try on next monday
or wait for the fabled auctions rewrite
I placed some bids 40 minute before end. Then got busy doing something and next thing I realized it was 10 minutes past bidding close
next week:(
how about we bribe him to not bid
and we split it:)
im still bidding
i'll meet u there
what's ur bot ?
just bribe him:)
Lofi Chill
make a deal
ahh boi
pretty sure im annoying him
π to me too
demm
u threw me down
gg 1k impression
Stoppp
10$ cpm is too high lmao
I am not the competition just saying lol
you sure
pretty sure he abandonned
haha
who the hell own dungeon divers
im going to kick his ass
like 10 minutes ago it was 3$ cpm
Lets not threaten people, please.
with respect
Ohh they are fools nvm
no kicking asses here
Follow the rules or you could be removed from Auctions or our Discord completely, thank you
Can i call them fools pls π₯Ή
I mean the ones who are fr
50$ cpm π₯±
sorry mate
I will be keeping a close eye on the higher bidders and taking action if payment failure rate is too high.
You are a saviour
||(prays they forget their card somewhere and are not able to pay)||
and i won
For?

Say say

indeed quite too much
kinda
πΆ
fantastic, please swing some ban hammers this behaviour is ridiculous
: π
Lets pray they are not able to pay this week π
i just noticed its in usd and not cad
U dumb

No not spreading ill keep mum
no, let's be rational. let's assume good faith and hope they do pay.
let's remain professional.
Lol yeah am just kidding
if they don't then this is top.ggs problem which they've said they'll fix now.
Its past midnight here lol so ofc am not saje rn
Yeah yeah nice step by xiuh
@zenith barn go sleep
how did u assume my gender π€‘
Am being dumb seriously
@muted cosmos a lot of reaction spam
Indeed
@zenith barn cool it with the reactions if you wanna keep the permission to use them

I'm making a bot template for a bot we're making for my student org and this shit is solid code
Support for both text commands and slash commands πͺ
Edit: Wrong channel nvm carry on auctions people
When is the ads from yesterdays action going live? is it around 20-21 CET?
The next cycle of ads goes live at around 8pm UTC.
Im new here. What do Auctions do for you/are they worth it? Do people rly install the plugin more
the plugin?
They mean add the bot
People wouldn't pay money in auctions every week if it didn't bring them new traffic
I'm curious did any of the high cpm bidders actually pay?
Certain users were removed this week due to high failed payment rates. Were going to be taking steps as well to better monitor failed payment rates and start implementing stricter punishments
And by removed, I mean removed from bidding and auctions.
Are we supposed to be able to view the message history of #bids Just shows up as an empty channel for me.
That's correct, they're hidden
#announcements message for details
Very interesting. Thank you.
gm
what happened to the auctions leaderboards mentioned there?
all transparency seems to be gone now
they're always visible on https://auctions.top.gg
where?
leaderboards used to show which bots had bid the most in total through all auctions
statistics π
i'm pretty sure we never had that as a feature
are you thinking of dblstatistics.com?
They used to have some scraped auctions stats
in any case, that announcement refers to this
yes this one, there was an official verison im sure
I don't remember there ever being one. Maybe @violet sand could confirm? π
But in any case that's not something we would do today based on the feedback we had from regular auctions customers
oh wew that is quite the difference
Relevant tags make quite the difference

I mean its fair lmao
mike π
off topic but, novonode is insanely cheap wtf
I thought sparkedhost was the cheapest thing that I would be able to find
@brittle carbon
There wasn't one
The reason why I made the DBL Stats one in the first place is because I was curious
I did do a livestream of an live auctions leaderboard in this server for the first few weeks, but thats about it
We (DBL Stats) had planned to carry it over to the first rewrite in 2020, but as #bids became unreliable (because discord was ratelimiting iirc), we didn't release with it and ended up dropping it as a feature
@violet sand ^
ty
yw
hit new pb with my ctr (my previous record was 1200%)
do you get double the votes on sundays or saturdays ?
Yes
both then ? or only on one of them ?
Yeah on weekends votes are doubled so Saturday and Sunday
ok ty
Usually anywhere between 5 - 7% is a good average.
looks like im not bidding this week, if the site wont work
but then again we got like 8 idiots bidding $20 CPM on the top voted slot again.

who is it that runs isekaid
i think its a bit mean that you keep bidding just a tiny bit less than the full impressions on the page
leaving me with like 101 impressions that cost a fortune.
just bid them all it'll cost you like an extra dollar.
i really dont get why AI bots are bidding in the gaming tag
you can have it, your loss
that looks like he meant to write $3.76, but adjusted the budget
Xd
as always π
or another popular one, bid on both slots of the same tag and don't let anyone have any of it
it just makes little sense to me, you're essentially paying twice for 1 click per se
or it's just to wipe out the competition
I noticed the SAME exact thing this second as well
wtf
the site has issues
why would someone bid $8.40 at $20 for a slot that only has 904 average impressions
youre not going to GET $20 worth
you think that's bad
the highest I dealt with was like $14 for that
there goes the entire slot lol, this isn't the first time regarding the weird refresh glitch
Itβs not your own money, why even care about it?
Just let them do what they want to do, their βlossβ
when they do it every week
you don't get any impressions anymore
and it becomes your own "loss" too
wtf now it says that it ended less than 42 seconds ago
what is this sorcery
Thatβs Auctions
oh wait I'm dumb
yep
auctions is a contact sport

the first week of the month is always the funniest one
they all blow their vote credits all at once
I will be forced to spend more next week, since January credits expire next week
and I lost a $2 slot, increasing my budget even more π
vote credits is genius tbh, it artificially inflates the value of popular tags so anyone that is spending actual money has to spend more
that might be the dumbest thing I ever did on auctions
no
suggestion: add a chat π
seriously that would be an interesting experiment, if we had a week with no vote credits
i'd still bid.
same
im bidding rn without vote credits, my bots fund my ads
so would I
topgg is main source of income and growth
it would stop the stupid $20CPM bids
I'd probably bit on my favorite slot and that would be it
most paying customers are from topgg
because we're willing to actually spend money on something that provides value to us
what i'm saying
the vote credits let people make stupid bids
I mean, if they won't add up the lost votes from January I'll be without credits for the next month π
and then anyone spending actual money has to spend more to actually get impressions
i want to know why a bot that sends sticky messages loves to rack up the price of all the welcome users/welcomer tags at random
its taking so long now
its gonna be an expensive one this week for me i think
had to fight for the slots i wanted
there were worse bro
this is the worst feeling
just waiting on one to finish
i know it's wrong when i do it
i'm contributing to the problem
but like why should they get off cheap
if they want a fight they get a fight
depends. im only spending what i forecast to get back in the long term, got a new bot to launch.
yeah true
but fr give us chat lmao
i do it with vote credits
so we can talk in tags
that would be funny
for how long do i fight for applciation tag
do u guys think its worth it
its getting expensive
i won them already
i get a good ctr on it
but application tag still gives a few clicks
impressions don't matter if no one is clicking on it
oh I see the $20 CPM on trending new 1 now, you weren't joking (what a waste given that the CTR is rubbish)
good choice
depends on your past experience, application tags are totally not worth it for me, but they have a high CTR so some know how to work it better
11 is fine, still way better than industry standards
but yeah tickets are really good
aight i won the application tag lol
nice
for some reason appy and noti gave up
even tho they can afford for sure
Appy never wins the application tag
i always do full ticket
never giving up anything
just checked, todays funds are in, phew, this isnt going to bankrupt me
ok not bad
not gonna be living off beans for 3 days lol
xd
I underspent today, so next week I'll have to efficiently spend $7.50, nothing more nothing less
ideally
jeez that took you forever
yeah
i get so upset if it's 5 minutes over
15 minutes is crazy
we love top.gg but i can't wait to close the auctions site every week
luckly the ads ALWAYS come back with a %
we get enough premium users from them to get money back and earn more
would be cool if you had a way to see which slot got you the most premium conversions
server invites is one thing but then which actually upgrade
it's definitely possible, but it would be a pain in the ass to do
you would need to track which specific slot the server came from
is that even possible
yes
whut
personally i track which bot list site my invites come from
but not specific tags
you could do that but you'd have to create another "promotable" for every single tag you wanted to bid on
anyways, what gives u most
which is why i said, it would be a pain in the ass
If you use custom products you can customize your invites
^ this, just said that yeah
a new invite for each product, a different product for each slot
ya
sorry im only half following along
too lazy
yeah
We could look into it for auctions v2
what u would change in v2
auctions v2
v2 is planned to be continous bidding, no weekly cycles
how would this work
maybe make the minimum bid thing automatic instead of like it is now so it errors if u try with too low
no cycles at all you just put money in
also, i think that vote credits glitched for me lol
We will keep a version of it, for newer bidders versus older bidders
and we plan on implementing a verification system where you have to have a card on file before bidding, or a deposit
vote credits are fun
i remember that one time i got my vote credits given to me twice
i claimed 15$ today and on the vote tab in bot settings it says $15.46 awaiting for month to end
lmao
yeah just happend to me
classic double spending bug
dont remove pls
im gud boi
hey i made a ticket when it happened
leave my moni
i very good
Nah it happens unfortunately and i cant track everyone so
put a lock on it when you try to claim idk
its there so its mine ok?
but i literally got a claim button idk why
this is probably because of the reset earlier this month
when the downtime happened
nextjs go brrrr
wait i didn't get this
i meant smth else
my claim request once just went through twice lol
damn thats cool
hacker man
wonder if its possible to find a bug in the api and claim as much as u want
well that's what happened
laggy buggy client sent api request twice
that's by definition what a double spend is, when you can hit an endpoint more than once and they run in parallel before the db is updated to say you already "spent" it
Ive already mentioned a similar issue to the engineering team
i can write it down tho
probably worth looking at
when i can claim again i will track the api request and spam it as fast as i can
i will tel u
that happened to me last july, pretty sure you were the one that answered when i brought it up lol
you even let me keep them
maybe if i do multiple devices at once?
(it was better than some schmuck finding it and doing a for (let i = 0; i < 100))
should work, right?
i wouldnt go trying to break things
the window for something like that to work is generally within a few milliseconds so unlikely
bvut possible
you're aiming for the window between the first request checking the database and the first request updating the database
that's why locking is used as a solution to that problem
a ID generated on tickety with a 0.1953% chance for the first 9 symbols
you need the second request to be able to see the old state before the first request updates the database with the new state
there's a similar (harmless) bug on discord that works in the same way that lets you have more than one DM with someone, and it's kinda funny
i had this happen to me organically before when i was on a crappy public wifi network on my phone a few years ago, i ended up having 2 DM channels with the same person
pretty trippy
Promise.all([
fetch(button api link)
fetch(button api link)
])
this is a decent way to try a double-spend yes
but first u gotta go to mcdonalds
so the minimal differences can be hid behind shitty intenret
if you're intentionally trying to do it no, you want as much control over how close you send the requests to each other
lmao
"my bad bro, i didnt want to"
dont ask if ticket tag gonna be 150@150 next week
lmao
woke up this morning to find my bot gaining servers quite fast. turns out this had happened:
i didnt win an auctions last week, in fact i was outbid quite far down the list. that being the case what would cause me to become "up there"?
could it be because they yeeted a bunch of trolls off the list?
would be nice if the site could send a pre-emptive email or dm "looks like you might get a second chance at some impressions this week in the next X hours, keep an eye out and your wallet ready"
I pointed this out to you yesterday here: #auctions-support message
yeah, but that slot one and rpg 2 werent there yesterday
only when i got up this AM
just "unknown product"
Yeah sometimes they don't appear until closer to the time they go live
That was because the site was down
would be nice to have more oversight of whats coming up, budgeting for more ads isnt an issue but reporting is always good
Would be nice to get rid of the current system entirely and just pay upfront for everything
thats like paying up front for healthcare just in case you have an accident... sounds very... american
