Bug report: touchpad gestures will very often conflict with opening scanner - I press the touchpad, the scanner will open for a brief moment and immediately close followed by my active weapon/tool being switched. Since "gestures" are enabled by default, I thought this was a bug but only found out yesterday the culprit.

There are other games which combine touchpad button with gestures but this is the only one where I had this issue.

I have disabled gestures for the time being.

Yes, 4 gestures on the DualShock/DualSense touchpad. But with default key bindings, they conflict with pressing touchpad which opens the scanner and it will often close right away.

Deep Rock uses more CPU and RAM than most games, proportionally speaking, due to everything being procedurally generated. Most games are going to always want more raw GPU power, but DRG can hit the limits of VRAM, RAM, and be using more CPU than you might expect.
Also, kinda weird to compare it to RDR2, a game made by 1600 people over 8 years at a budget of $540 million

Build for what you've got currently. You might not get the Overclock you want for a while. It could be weeks...

And the weapon mods are relatively cheap. You can just buy them when you do get the Overclock, if you haven't unlocked them all by that point

aquarks are the only mission type where the game gets harder with time. If your still learning the game, I’d recommend playing haz 3 or lower. It shud give you a lot of time to learn how things work without being too stressful

Point Extraction, for the Aquarqs, is one of the hardest mission types when you're first starting out. It always has a significant starting wave when you first drop in, and the waves kinda never stop and only get more intense the longer you're in the mission. The dreadnought was a random, very unlucky spawn. I feel like I've had more random dreadnoughts in Point Extraction missions, but there's always a chance they might spawn during any mission

The almost nonstop stream of enemies, punctuated by frequent swarms, doesn't really give you much room to breathe or time to catch your breath. It's a bit of a difficulty spike after playing the other missions, where you have either a bit more control over the swarms, or at least a bit more time between swarms without a constant stream of small stuff

I also have one for gunner's missile launcher, which I haven't unlocked yet, that turns off tracking when you release the trigger but also makes the missiles faster.

One for the Driller's initial pistol that makes it full auto, and one for the second Driller secondary that adds a little ammo to it.

No two missions will ever be the same, not even in the same caves (except for Deep Dives, which use a fixed seed for the week). And the numbers always keep going up. But no one should play any one game forever; there's so many games and only so much time. Hopefully DRG remains fun throughout your time with it

there's definitely not 500 hours of worthwhile unique endgame content to chase

And turning up the Hazard Level when things start getting a little too routine can help. It'll definitely keep things interesting.
But it also depends on what parts of a game appeal to you; personally, I love exploration, and each cave is a brand new place to explore with rules I'm already comfortable with. Not every game will grab everyone the same way, and there's nothing at all wrong with that. Most of the loot in DRG is cosmetic, which might not be as exciting to folks who really enjoy the mechanics of finding random tiered functional loot.
Anyhow, I'm glad you're having a good time with it, even if that's not a long time

Yeah, there is no prestige reset. The first promotion on each character gives you access to Deep Dives and machine events. Except for the Scale Brigade armor that I believe is available at player level 100, I dont think there’s anything else you need to promote to get.

I play it that way so I can still use my ps4 back button

ps4 and ps5 vers have different saves though, so currently no transfer there, but playing on the ps4 ver while on ps5 is fine
