Also, about double xp, while it is good as a temporary boost, doing it constantly over the long run, is not advisable if you want to always promote. Take it from a level 680+ player. I don't play double xp missions anymore. If I just play no double xp, by the time a dwarf is level 25, I'll have enough credits and minerals to cover the next promotion every time.

With double xp, you'll eventually lose money per promotion. And be broke.

Some people have had success overcoming connection issues by switching their internet connection type. Folks who were on wifi switched to ethernet, and folks using ethernet switched to wifi. This seems to have worked for everyone who has tried it so far.
At this time, there are no other solutions as the issue doesn't affect everyone. The devs are looking into it, but, since they're unable to reproduce the issue on their hardware, they have not been able to provide a solution yet

Whoever seems most fun. I personally love to switch between classes. But it does make sense to focus each to the first promotion at least. Each class is very playable, and the various weapons and modifications and perks can allow you to play each one a variety of ways.
Scout is a ton of fun, given the grappling hook. Gunner is good in a pinch, especially with the shield. Driller feels great once you get the hang of the drills. Engineer always felt the most well-rounded to me

I usually recommend starting on Hazard Level 2, and moving to 3 once 2 seems very comfortable. 3 can sometimes be a bit of a challenge when you don't have many upgrades and perks unlocked

Equipment, definitely. Buy one upgrade from each tier as they become available. You don't have to worry too much about which one, whichever sounds good. Buy the additional weapons as soon as you can, because they open up alternate ways to play. Try everything before committing to anything

There are so many fun ways to play. That said, if you like the default weapons, feel free to hold off. Money and minerals can be tight in the beginning

Fastest way to get money and XP is to run missions fast and focus on the Primary and Secondary Objectives, then get out. That's not always the most fun way to do it.
In general, follow the host's lead if your playing multiplayer. Letting the host push buttons and only taking one refill of ammo at a time (unless everyone is leaving refills behind and you could really use it) are common courtesy

Ooo, I don't know which is best. Anything with Armor Breaking modifications usually makes such short work of armor that I've not noticed a huge difference. Praetorians are probably the easiest test subjects to check this on, if you wanted to get into the nitty gritty of the science

I usually spec things out for fun first, and efficiency second, so I'm not the best at suggesting optimized builds. I really feel that -- even on Haz 5 or Elite Deep Dives -- how you play what you're kitted with it more important than what you're kitted with.
If you like what you're using, and you use it well, you'll have fun and do well regardless of the setup

Went on the internet and found an answer for this. It makes sense when you think about it.

For example:

-Completing a mission will unlock the trophy for 500 missions.

  • Promoting a miner will pop the trophy for having all miners promoted to gold.

  • Collecting a compressed gold chunk, bittergem or alien artifact will unlock their respective trophies.

Some trophies that have specific requirements need to be redone.

For example:

  • The trophies for barrels in the drop pod and launch bay need to be redone.

  • The Party Time trophy

Some trophy requirements seem to have to be only partially met again.

For example:

  • Riding a silicate harvester for any amount of time will unlock the trophy for riding one for 30 seconds.

TLDR. Some trophies are a "one time check upon trigger" so you'd have to redo those. (example. Barrels in launch bay) While others are continously always logged (amount of missions/promotions), so once you do something that triggered that check, you'll get the trophy.

It's not so bizarre when you realize that there are separate lists of achievements for the PS4 version, and the PS5 version

Alright. I can easily see it being done both ways, from a design perspective. The achievements are not actually saved to the save files, they're just triggered by the platform the game is on. I'd be surprised if there weren't other indie titles that have multiple versions that do something similarly

Unfortunately, the devs are not effected and are unable to reproduce the issues on their hardware, so the issues are proving difficult to find and fix. Yeah, unfortunately it's not an easily accessible solution for everyone.
And unfortunately the problem doesn't exist for everyone. And, since it doesn't exist for the devs, all they can really do is guess at the cause, make changes that might improve things, and then release an update and wait for people to report back because they have no way of checking for themselves if the attempted fix worked. Then rinse and repeat until one of the attempts fixes the issue

That can work too. But the connection issues have persisted for some people even after a reinstall. If that happens, you'll need to try switching connection types.

Then the abyssmal lobby and connection issues came back and made the game unplayable again. Guess this will be the best game i will never play. Never had such issues with any other console game. Is there no real fix? Does this really become a game of russian roulette of the servers actually let me play with friends?

There are no game servers; it's all peer-to-peer connections. So connection issues are, generally speaking, on your end or on the host's end.
The recent connection issues that have been reported do not affect everyone, and that's making it very hard to find a fix. The only fix that has had consistent results for pretty much everyone experiencing the issue is changing from wired internet to wifi, or from wifi to wired

You can join a Deep Dives if you had a game crash. I personally hosted quite a few deep dives since a close friend of mine has spotty internet. He wasn't a reliable host. Randomly he'd get disconnected sometimes when we 2 manned deep dives and he was able to join back.

So unless something changed in recent updates, you should be able to rejoin a deep dive if your game crashed.

Btw another note here:
Game doesn't have to crash. You can close the game (Do NOT leave the lobby tho, just close the game from the PS Menu while still in the deep dive).

You can rejoin usually by going into the "search for players --> recently played with" menu. If the person has their profile/game activity hidden it won't work but they can send you an invite as well.

I occasionally do this when I realize I messed up my build. I'll leave, fix my build and rejoin. It will send you back with the same class tho so no, you can't switch characters mid dive

You need to be fast tho. Don't spend hella time in the space rig as the game seems to eventually forget that you were in that dive and won't let you rejoin

And obviously... Don't do this if you're the host. The game will just end for everyone

Good tips. This works for regular games too. The client essentially holds your "game state" when you leave or get disconnected, so if you're able to rejoin, you're the same class as when you left.

Also, don't think leaving the game if you're downed and coming back in works. You'll spawn back in, downed. 😂

When your friends leave you for "sleep" whatever that is. You know who doesn't? BOSCO!!! Not only is he 5x better than the 3 other nutsacks on your team, but he also flys, he revives you even when your surrounded by enemys, and dawg has ROCKETS! That's why Bosco is better than any other teammate.

@shell flame I wish man. It started towards the end of season 3. There was PS5 update and ever since 95% of the time I get stuck on the join wheel. Only multi-player though, solo works fine. Devs talked about it on here briefly, but that was months ago and I can't find any recent news.

Quick way to confirm the issue is happening:
Hit the PS button. If you see yourself showing in a game party, you will need to close the game. Usually you'll see yourself in that lobby on the PS screen but obviously not in the lobby in DRG. The lobby will also disappear from the open lobbies screen which is usually a good sign it's already borked. It hides the lobby bc it thinks you're already in it

When you're "stuck" in the lobby, you actually can't join any other game. It will eventually clear you from the lobby automatically but it takes like 5 minutes for the game to realize you never made it in so it won't let you join another game (or even attempt to join the same lobby you're supposedly in until you remove yourself)

Can save yourself a lot of headache with that quick check bc you'll pretty much know any lobby join will fail while you see that

I found another work around of sorts that saves me from closing the game. You can test your network connection. Let it run a couple seconds and you'll disconnect from the server briefly. It pulls you outta the softlock but you still need to manually leave party to get a fresh start.
Granted it only saves me from having to restart over and over. I still have to run the gauntlet of joining again.

Sometimes I just sit in the space rig messing around for a few minutes instead of restarting bc it figures it out eventually... But other times there's only one seat left and I Speedrun closing and restarting and trying to join again 🤣

I agree with your other findings. I've seen it say I'm in a lobby on the dashboard and the lobby disappear in the background while the wheel spins. Found that joining a lobby where I'm 2nd in seems to work more often than 3rd or 4th

The real disconnect issue seems to be between PS and DRG. Somehow we're entering the game as far as PS is aware. Which then blocks DRG from letting you try again bc you're in a party 🫠

I still almost exclusively do multi. It's annoying but not game breaking. Just gotta be aware and know when you're stuck (which you seem all set for).

Even with the grievance, I still find it worthwhile to play with others but maybe I'm just jaded about the issue at this point 😅

Been seeing this type of issue since season 1 but never cared enough to mention it since it wasn't too concerning until now. Now it's definitely getting worse. In the past, there'd be visual glitches like when you're doing Salvage missions and the uplink or refueling pod would show that green aura even after the objective have been completed. Or when you're in escort duty and you can't see the heartstone's health bar. Or for machine events, you can't see the timer or health bars of tritolyte deposit/omen. Essentially if you're not host, you come across a lot of random visual glitches.

Ever since season 4, I've seen an even worse glitch. So pretty much host was doing a tritolyte deposit and I couldn't see the lasers to turn on, but host was turning the lasers on. Heard the audio and everything, but couldn't activate them myself.

There are no game servers; it's all peer-to-peer connections. So connection issues are, generally speaking, on your end or on the host's end.
The recent connection issues that have been reported do not affect everyone, and that's making it very hard to find a fix. The only fix that has had consistent results for pretty much everyone experiencing the issue is changing from wired internet to wifi, or from wifi to wired

There is no cloud save by default on PlayStation unlike the other platforms. Cloud saves are only available if you have PS Plus, and even then automatic uploading of cloud saves is turned off by default, if I'm not mistaken.
It's just how Sony has their cloud stuff setup, and DRG uses each platform's own cloud setup as there are no DRG game or account servers

I’ve neglected the sludge pump despite playing the game quite a bit. What are people’s builds and secondary pairings for haz 5? I’ve been messing around with it finally on Haz 4 but I don’t feel great about it. Have all the OCs in the game, no issues there.

Switch to wired ethernet. There's not really another option. You can try a full reboot of your console and router, if you haven't done those already. Sometimes that's enough. But if that doesn't do it, you'll have to switch how you're connected to the internet. It's the only thing that's been working for folks

They would love to. However, the issue is not affecting everyone. The devs have not been able to recreate or experience the issue on their hardware, so they have not been able to find what's causing it. Unless they can find the cause, all they can do is guess at fixes and hope something works. Until then, all anyone who is affected can do is change internet connection types

This has been the state of things for those affected for a couple of months now, if I'm not mistaken. It's just hard to fix a problem that doesn't exist when you look for it

Low priority only in the sense that it can't be directly addressed. But yes, if they can't find the problem, it becomes very, very hard to fix the problem. You can try to guess and fix what might be a problem, but you can do a whole lot of that and never make things better when it's all random guesses. It's frustrating for the devs and for the people who are effected

If the problem is lost progress, you can check the in-game Options menu, go to Save Menu, then select Restore Save. That will let you download a cloud save. However, cloud saves only exist if you have PS Plus and have previously turned on automatic cloud saves

There has been at least one person who said it worked and then stopped working, so switching connection types does not seem like a sure-fire permanent fix for the issue, but there's been lots of reports of it working. And an absence of anything else that might help, unfortunately

Huh... Well that sucks but good to know. Def won't be switching to Wi-Fi for one game. For now I kinda just know when it's happening and reset the game or let it fix itself (aka ghost joining issue. Game will figure out you never made it into the lobby)

The expected recommendation for any game has historically been "go wired," so it's real easy to see this suggestion and think it's a throwaway answer or the flipside and think "go wifi" doesn't make any sense at all. I only started offering the answer after it seemed to be incredibly consistent for many others, because as you point out: I don't even have a PlayStation 🙈

Welp. This is game breaking. I'm having the issue too. "this feature is not available due to the following reasons". First it said no network connection, which it even confirms in game that it has. Now it's just saying no reason at all. I thought it was maybe the beta 4.0. So I rolled back to the normal firmware. And nope. Same issue.

Ah, so your learning what to look for. That can be tricky. It's very, very rare that you'll load into a cave that doesn't have enough minerals to complete the objective, but it can happen. Part of it is learning what to look for, and part is learning where to look, and part is learning how to get to the out-of-reach minerals.

I'm guessing you're getting stuck on Morkite, because that's the only one that is a primary objective that you need to be able to complete the mission. Morkite is a dark blue-ish black mineral in the walls, it sparkles and has a slight glow to it so you can sometimes see it even better in the dark. It can be hard to spot when you're in the Azure Weald region, however, because it blends in well with the walls.

The best tip I can offer is to use the Laser Pointer often, especially when starting out. It will tell you on the Laser Pointer display exactly the material it's pointing at, and the display will light up when you're pointing at something important, like minerals and objectives

Nah haven't really had that issue but you have to remember it's peer to peer hosting. Aka you and the rest of the lobby determine how laggy it is.

So... I'm not a DRG player. I'm the mom of a DRG player. Who is 5 years old. Playing on his dad's account. I need some help.

He loves playing with a team. Or as he calls it "my friends!"

I can't for the life of me figure out how to keep him from tanking his dad's reputation though. I know he is trying to be a good team player, and he's not awful (I think?) But he is five and ADHD and struggles with nuance and how to be a good team mate.

Mostly I refuse to let him do pick up games because he will get booted or just not pull his weight or sometimes a mission will fail. I make him struggle to complete missions on his own. (jokes The failure and perseverance cycle is good for kids, right?)

Just have him play on haz 1 or 2. Playing on a lower hazard changes nothing for the dad's account.

Also there's not really a reputation in this game beyond people remembering your player name. It's not like a competitive game where your rank goes up or down based on performance.

But overall unless you put him with others his age (like friends), he'll always be playing with random people and that's just that. In a lower hazard, he'll be less of a "risk" and can learn the game better too

Hazard 3 and up... He will definitely encounter people who aren't as enthused, especially if just joining a random lobby but hey, you never know. I've had kids in my lobby and we got along just fine and I helped em a bit... Just be careful with the mic, kids tend to talk a lot about random stuff or screaming... Which might get him kicked depending on the host

One thing I'll warn you about tho...
If ADHD is truly a problem rn, please don't let him do the deep dive missions. They are 3 missions in one go (aka back to back) and usually range from 35-95 minutes. Most hover around 45+ and the general recommendation for anyone in the community is to set aside AT LEAST an hour so keep that in mind

I think that gaming teaches valuable stuff, but at 5 he still needs to be weird in the sun and dirt sometimes too. Ugh.
