Its the cave and enemy generation + equipment customization that give the game replayability.

Since the game has no narrative modes.

It's like- back in the day I used to play thousands of hours of CoD Zombies with the same ten weapons.

What matters is that the gameplay is in itself fun.

Not incompatible connection-wise; incompatible features-wise.
Steam has a different, slightly more complex cave generation system than the last-gen consoles can handle.
Also, Steam has the Miner's Union (which is barely a feature and doesnt really do anything, but is still something that does not exist in the console versions).
Lastly, and probably the biggest one, Steam has mod support built-in. That is highly unlikely to ever make its way over to consoles, and, even if it does, would likely only be in a limited fashion which would likely still be incompatible with the Steam version in some cases.

And, in order to allow crossplay to work, all versions would have to be on the same update at the same time (otherwise crossplay would break). So the devs would have to completely alter their development strategy to facilitate crossplay. It would likely make further development slower and more complicated

Because mods on console is more than just adding the capability and then letting people run wild. Both Microsoft and Sony are not terribly interested in letting any arbitrary code execute on their platforms, so mods tend to be fairly limited in scope.
Regardless of what form the mods take, the devs would likely have to ensure that the mods don't can't cause issues with the consoles. It's not like PC where the hardware and OS are just an open playground where anything goes.
I'll admit I don't know the specifics, but my understanding is that the devs would have be responsible for making sure any mod that they let work on the console version cannot cause problems with the console. They would have to check and test the mod each time it updates to ensure it's compliant. There's ways to automate this to some degree by severely limiting what mods can do (like making sure mods are only cosmetic, etc.), but at that point I'm not sure how interesting the prospect of mods becomes...

I will say one thing I appreciate about the seasons is that they are always additive. Anything added remains in the game to encounter as we get new seasons. DRG may be slowly growing, but it is still growing. And the core remains solid. I think what the devs are doing works, but I also think that, like most games, it's good to take breaks and come back to DRG when it makes sense for you to do so. I like to stay in touch with what's going on so I don't miss an event, but weeks to months off here or there always makes DRG exciting to come back to when I pick it back up

If the core gameplay loop and large amount of build and character variation isn’t enough for you, then any amount of content bloat added probably won’t last long either.

I've already been "supportive" since day one and bought all the DLC packs. I can still be disappointed by certain things and call them out. Just being a yes man and blindly defending everything they do isn't helpful either. serious connection issues have been going on for like 8 weeks now with no end in sight. They claim it's "just a minority of players" but this is simply not true. a large portion of people i regularly play with from different countries and locations tell me they have the same problems. There has been nothing new for 5 months now. The past 3 seasons barely added anything worthwhile imo.

All i said was this game would GREATLY benefit from a slimmed down version of mods but i keep hearing excuses. instead of them making another season their main focus should be cross platform (between playstation and xbox) and basic mod support. These two things alone would add far more to the core game than any season ever could.

i just don't get the vision sometimes. first they add industrial sabotage but it's not even in the main rotations of assignments so barely anyone played them. then they added a nemsis which almost never spawns

do i still enjoy DRG? sure. but the game could use some substantial additions at this point. tons of great suggestions have been made but nothing happens

I've done it twice, solo. (Not a flex, it's legit easier that way, due to enemy scaling. The more players, the way more damage resistance enemies have)

I think the trophy needs yall to be at least haz3.

Scout is probably best, but use what you're comfy with.

Duo probably might be just as good. But if you've done enough solos you'll notice the dreads are butter compared to 4 player.

Just a heads up for folks that don't know:

Stage 3 of the EDD this week is prone to DC issues (aka the host may find themselves arriving on stage 3 solo with everyone else having been dropped).

FOR THE NON-HOSTS: please, please try to REJOIN THE DIVE (there will either be a screen offering to rejoin or you should be able to pick the mission from the dive terminal. If you didn't know, you can usually rejoin deep dives if the game doesn't completely wipe itself (usually if the game doesn't crash, it'll remember that you were in that lobby and allow you to rejoin. This is the only one someone can late "join" a dive btw. You had to have already been in the dive when it started. This does NOT always work tho, it's 50:50... At best). Also know that the host did NOT kick you if it happened before you landed.

FOR THE HOSTS: Your team did not abandon you! if possible, try to re-invite players (don't use the pause game menu, it will say late invited not allowed in dives). Instead, hit the PlayStation button --> friends --> search for players --> players met game / recently played with. The 3 top results should be the folks that were just in your lobby. If no one joins, know that Bosco will be there and this mission is very doable solo for an decent haz4/5 player. If you're a haz 4 guy, it may be a bit tense but most of the objectives are nearby. Morkite was kinda hard to find without a about but just look for black shimmers in the dark. Some was high up in the main room, use Bosco for it

Your account and save file only exists on your machine. Be it computer or PS. Cloud saves is the only way to get it across devices anyways - but if you have like a PS4 version and go to PS5 you will have a new save as well

Trophy completion is not tracked in your save file and the trophies for PS5 are a full new set, so they're available to collect all over again.

For any trophy that is progress-related, (i.e. complete 100 solo missions, get all dwarves to Gold Promotion, etc.), they should unlock automatically but will usually require you to trigger the check for completion by activating the trophy trigger one time.
For example: in the case of the 100 solo missions trophy, even if you've completed well over 100 on PS4 and more to PS5, you will need to complete one solo mission, at which time the number of solo missions completed will increase and cause the trophy check to trigger.

For any trophy that is not progress-related but rather is triggered when the action is completed (i.e. Objects in the Launch Bay, Time Well Spent, Car Pool, riding a pipeline for 2 minutes, etc.), the triggering action must be completed again as there is no record of which of these you've done or have not done in your save file.
For these types of trophies, you will need to complete them again if you wish to earn them on the PS5 version.

First time asking a question here. But I was looking at the server list and there’s a scout that has been in an escort mission for 21 HOURS. Is this a bug or is this dude getting enough xp for a 1-25 promotion?

There is some method of starting missions that are bugged in such a way that enemies don't spawn. Unless I'm mistaken, it not only prevents enemies from spawning, but it also messes up the mission time. I believe people do this to farm XP.
I've never bothered to look into it further as it all seems a bit silly to me; I mean, if someone doesn't enjoy playing the game I'm not sure why they'd bother trying to get a bunch of XP, but to each their own...

Yeah gunner is the only one with an excuse since it is a pain and expensive to use ziplines usually. But engis be sitting with 26 unused platforms in their inventory every resupply I don’t get it. At least most drillers know they can drill up walls

it honestly helped me get good at traversing weird caves without utilities

   3.mfs calling drop pod before secondary is completed

I live in the Czech Republic, but the game thinks I'm from a distant region, so it shows any servers, even from within the Czech Republic, as "Far," and not only does it show as far, but the ping is also very high, making it impossible to play. The account was registered in Russia, but I haven't lived there for a long time. A few months ago, I didn't have this problem, and I could play on any servers without issues. I'd say that the hardest class to start off with is the engineer because it's method of traveling is definitely the hardest to perfect

It did came natural to me, love platforming around

Once you get a feel when playing with other engineers and learning how to use their platforms and kinda what they do then using the engineer class will be a fun time
