Blender works nicely. You can get a plugin to import models from the game (after you've exported them using Umodel) and then save it as FBX to bring into the Unreal Editor.
Is there a specific tag for mods that I can use and still earn achievements or do all mods disable achievements?

Heya. Even after disabling every single mod my game still shows up as a "modded server with no installed mods". I worry that this will affect my matchmaking since I've seen a reduction of people joining my games when the server is modded. Anyone know what's up with that?
are you on a non modded save?
you're on a sandbox save maybe? go to options > save menu and see if there's any other saves to swap to
Yes there is a backup but I find it very strange that I'm getting marked as a modded SERVER where no mods are active. I'd rather not roll back 20 player ranks.

@livid willow Just curious what you would consider OP mods? (I run horde turrets for engi, as well as starship troopers scout.. and Brew's misc mod pack which includes a grenade and perk rework/buff... as well as platform, drills, and zipline improvements.)
I tend to only run 3x... as the PUGs I end up with tend to have just the right amount of strugglebus with that.. even with the above mods.

@stoic spruce I personally only use 40 Nitra resupply pods for doing 5x-10x enemies. for me the only mod I would maybe allow for a player buff would be the vanilla turrets mod rather than the horde turrets mod but even then I consider most mods that alter any of the class weapons to be to op to be used in my lobbies even if they are 8x+
@heady sleet also horde turrets is a mod that buffs your turrets to be able to have up to 4 of them with 500 ammo in each turret and at a much higher fire rate

i personally dont play engi but it seems to help people when there are lots more enemies but it's to powerful for my lobbies
i prefer people learn new playstyles for my lobbies rather than get buffs to make their current ones work

if you played the save for a bit and then installed sandbox mods, IIRC you can use the restore save option (it brings up a list of autosaves).
However, due to how the modding system works, if you've installed sandbox mods, from then on all that progress is in a sandbox save. There's no way to "un-sandbox" the save except for external tools/reset progress.

well, it does make sense. If you install an "unlock all cores" mod and can then un-sandbox the save, that breaks things

not sure about the rules of posting links to tools like that here... but a quick google search for "drg save editor", first result (Github link) should probably work. Looks like it hasn't been updated since the modding update so it may or may not work. ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR SAVES before doing any shenanigans.

The mod uses the same picture for all of the versions of the mod (x2, 3, 4, 5).. the power of the flashlight you actually get is determined by WHICH mod you subscribe/activate.
This is just a timesaving thing for the mod author, so they dont need different pictures, and it shows the difference in power quite clearly.

Okay to be honest i dont see the point of regular/sandbox/modded save games. It just seems confusing and i still dont understand the difference. If anything modded/unmodded is enough. Because the biggest difference seems to be one disables achievements?
Because honestly if i had to choose i'd just take the simple route and play on sandbox regardless of the mods loaded and not have to fuck around with the saves and the varying degrees of progress on each
i agree but the main thing is sandbox saves which the idea seems to be that if you cheese your way to get gear and what not you can't join an unmodded non sandbox save which to me is idiotic as there are editors out there that can change your vanilla save and crank that to the max

I unsubbed, exited the game, restarted my pc, reopened drg, and re subbed to the mods, then closed the game and reopened and it was there again

specifically the different stages of progression. it makes it a massive headache to lose or gain progress depending on who your trying to play with

for what its worth - i tried a few rounds of what you said with no luck - but what fixed it for me was just disabling "Auto Disable Outdated Mods" and then enabling the "outdated" ones anyway
things all seem to work fine, have run a few missions without issue - wonder if theres just a weird discrepancy in what DRG things is outdated vs. mod versions/files? anyway - wanted to post this in case someone else had this issue as another thing to try out

The "not up to the latest version" is honestly a load of crap if you're playing U34 and do not plan to try Experimental U35. Just untick the auto-disable setting in the Modding menu.

Can someone explain to me why non-modded dwarves can see my fancy double-hammer pickaxe?
With the cosmetics unrestricted mod, I can put pickaxe back-ends on the front as well, but I expected this to just be a client-side visual change.
I'm not complaining, but I just wonder how it works. At this point, it's basically just like an official cosmetic with extra steps.
All the mod does is remove the restriction for where the blade can be placed. So when people see your pick, they still have all the info (what blade and where) since that's part of the base game
For the same reason the old weapon paint bug worked. The only thing stopping it vanilla is the ui

I think there was an issue with my save. I used to use mods prior to the public release of mods and I believe that made my one-and-only save a "sandbox" save. I'm not sure what to do because now I can't play with anyone else. I have about 330 hours on this save. How would I go about getting this fixed?

its also sandboxed for obvious reasons, so you wont be able to bring them to non sandbox servers

modding not being super popular for this type of game, combined with the implimentation leaves modding kinda dead
Plus in general a lot of the modded servers tend to not garner people's interest due to the large amount of mods in them
not only that, although i understand and even agree with their reasoning for going with mod.io i think having to actually open a browser and log in to download mods scares a lot of people off

most people like steam workshop for a reason, and that is ease and accessiblity

Since you have to download those mods, probably. You aren't even really logging in. You're using the steam API (OpenID) to log into mod.io. As a result they never receive your username or password. It's frankly the best way to create an account. You log in securely once via steam then you're set.

The fewer mods you have when you host a game the higher chance you have that people will join.
Also people don't want to join a game with a bunch of mods they don't care about.
So popularity of the mods has an effect too, the more DLs the better.
If no one is joining try less mods or more popular mods.
Is there a mod to remove a lot of the chatter from mission command? Especially the ones when booting up the drop pod on Salvage Mule, where the dialogue is just noise and not really informative, and the constant reminder that "you're jeopardising the mission"

Issue I just had fail a mission for me and was recommended to post here. Molly got caught on the Omen Machine event and just walked into it for four minutes. Not mad in any way because it was partially my own fault for not watching it but just a bug I wanted to report
I think your looking for #bug-discussion this channel is for mods, either way digging out the terrain can make her recalculate her route and fix it
The pod also automatically opens with 10 seconds left with or without her just in case, if it ever happens again

i wonder how hard it would be to make a better visibility mod, someone i know has a special kind of color blindness where he has different ones in each eye that make it hard to make out things. i am mainly thinking of something that would take away some of the detail in favor of making it easy to distinct an enemy from the environment. stripping it down to the raw elements of the gameplay, like with that one nick robinson video where his version of doom crapped out and had the contrast exaggerated because of it
are there any tools that display things like glyphid health values in real time, as well as their parts? ex. armor values, dread shell, roller plates, etc. in raw numbers?

straight buffs aren't particularly likely to be added to the base game, but if a mod adds something the devs like a lot then they may add in their own twist on it ||like the driller drills angle indication||.
Well no but they're kinda more QoL at this point, being able to see and pickaxe without slowing you down. Since the former is still a casualty from the lighting engine change + the maps getting waaay bigger, and the latter since it was implemented at a time enemies had way more issues moving/no quick enemies

Is anyone else out here using Fast Forging? Looks like the mod got pulled from mod.io but I'm still getting it installed. Something's going on. Looks like removing mods from Mod.io doesn't pull the data properly, making it so you're stuck with the mod if you had it installed prior. I can't unsubscribe from it, either - the page doesn't exist.

Would any of the developers like to explain to me how you justify the hypocrisy of “Cosmetic Restriction Remover” labeled as Verified while “Restrictionless Armor Frameworks” is labeled as Approved?
Excerpt from “Mod Guidelines and Status Categories”:
Verified mods must not:
- In anyway impacts clients joining a server where the Host has Verified mods enabled.
- in anyway impacts Hosts who are joined by clients with Verified mods enabled.
These are the only two rules within the verified category that the mod “Restrictionless Armor Frameworks” breaks, because it creates cosmetic changes that clients without the mod can see. However the mod “Cosmetic Restriction Remover” also breaks these same two rules yet remains Verified.
Both of these mods apply cosmetic changes that players without mods can see, why are they not in the same category?

Was trying out that new auto switch class mod for the equipment screen, it is super jank, if that’s cleaned up (and also paired with a mod that turns off the class select voice lines) I’d redownload that super fast

Blueprint Mod Manager is crashing the game in U35 Experimental, that means most of the mods relying on it are offline as well. Some verified mods are working. That's as much as I can tell. There's a tag for mods updated to Experimental version on Mod.io, you could filter by that and find out.
Ah. I figured it was certain mods like that. It works when you reinstall but then when you restart it crashes.

Hiyas.. just started up DRG today and all my mods kinda vanished and are erroring out in the 'installing mods' popup that appears on the right side

The mod does retain class coloring, sk that bit is left intact. The rest is just fluff
Something i do have an issue with is something like karl class that allows you to change your flare color

- You can toggle mods on and off from here
- To delete the mod entirely, click "manage mods" in the bottom right
- Click on your profile picture in the top right corner, then click profile
- Click "subscriptions" on the left middle side of the screen
- Click on the green box in the top right of each mod you wish to unsubscribe from
- Press tab+shift to exit the steam overlay
- Wait for the mods you want uninstalled to appear at the top under the "pending uninstall" category
- Once all the mods you want to get rid of are there, click apply at the bottom of the screen, review the list in the text box, and then click "yes"

Library > Select DRG > Find the little gear icon on the right side, click it, click properties, from, there you will find launch options
write -disablemodding there
it will uninstall all your mods but as soon as you log back in without the command line they will automatically re-install

Is the laser projectile from the old laser turrets that occupied the mining platform still in the files?
you're going to want to unpack the game files with DRGPacker and then use Umodel to extract the materials you want. Just know some stuff is done via vertex painting and isn't easily changeable

this is my main save. it has the most progress and the only other save in the save list is sandbox but the main save has mods enabled somehow

Mods in the verified and approved catagory as well as most audio and cosmetic mods will have zero effect on your save so no need to worry. Any mods that affect progress are automatically sandboxed and force you to make or load a sandbox save so your main save is safe

Hi, for some reason my game just keep crashing whenever i don't use the "disablemodding" command. I followed this guide https://steamcommunity.com/app/548430/discussions/1/3044985412487214673/ but even by doing all the steps, it doesn't work at all
This started to happen after i went on experimental build (which, on the other hand, works perfectly without the "disablemodding" command)
EDIT : I reinstalled the game, still crashes
I might be blind, but the wiki says this discord should have a guide for how to get started on modding but I can't seem to find anything of the sorts

I didn't really know what i was doing or how it worked, but i wanted to have two seperate saves (one for mods, one without) but i didnt want my progress to be reset back to level 1 with nothing

Just message them with the save saying that your main save is sandboxed. Although, the game only shows sandbox saves if you have anything making the game sandbox, if your main save truly is sandbox you should be able to see all of your other save backups.
I was able to see my backup saves in game and they were all sandboxed too, sadly, even though it was my main save. It doesn't go back far enough i guess, but i've only maybe played one or two sandbox games. =/

Uh so today, my friend tried out modding in the past but then he removed it because he found them "boring". When I joined his private game, his server was flagged as "modded" but no mods are installed. I'm GUESSING he finished a mission with mods installed, but he's using the same save to host the game. Is there some way to remove the "modded" flag in his server? I want to play and make progress with my "vanilla" save on his game.
Also, the halloween event is gonna end tomorrow and my friends were putting it off until today, the day before the event ends.

Nah, updating the game with mods installed works fine. Outdated mods are disabled by default, but you can reenable them at your own risk. They may still work as intended.

I doubt you can turn a sandbox save into a normal one, since you could have made ‘illegal’ modifications to your progression using the mods while they were installed
i try restor save but game does not allow me do it an try create new save. not helping
i use mods only in game menu

What do you need further explanation on? It used to be sandboxed but had a lot of things stripped from it to make the devs happy and get it into the approved category.

The fact of the matter is, if someone is really keen on cheating they wont resort to auto clicking a mods button to do it

I haven't used the current spawn menu but previously you could spawn basically an infinite amount of nitra chunks, each worth 15 or so nitra and spawn it at your feet and constantly deposit for a lot of xp.
Granted there were easier ways of getting xp by just spawning cubes but I assume that is removed.

My point is more the different classes of mods exist to keep cheat mods away from legit players, which is fine and good. Its not a bad idea. But no anti cheat methods are actually in place to compliment it

Verified is just local iirc. Only approved and sandbox enforce pairity
Verified mods aren't forced to everyone like approved are. So only those who have that verified mod installed can see the cosmetic changes.
I hope the UPgraded Doretta mod gets updated for the new Rival Incursion update :( Its not even updated for the current version of the game.
i havent actually used it recently but for most mods you can just turn off auto disable outdated mods and they should work
Hmm, well when I was using the Upgraded Doretta mod, I couldnt bring up the configuration with the keyboard.... MAybe I was using a controller to that was causing the issue.

Blueprint Mod Manager doesn't work in U35 so my Upgraded Doretta mod doesn't work.
It got reuploaded by Shattered, so all good. Has anyone actually encountered memory leaks with it?
ive lost all my progress because i went to try and use mods and now my main game has been changed to sandbox, and now i pretty much cant use it anymore. its over 300+ hours gameplay just gone. can anyone help me?

The answer is simple: it depends on the mod. Audio mods are likely to work, visual mods - maybe, Blueprint Mod Manager mods will not work because BPMM itself is broken.
I tried fab mule and the mule customizer did not show up

"Requires the Blueprint Mod Manager" BPMM doesn't work. That means any mods related to it will not work either.
You can install mods without enabling them - if you turn on game version control.
Does the save editor still work for the latest version? my save file screwed itself up and reverted a month's worth of progress.

i'm not sure if this is the right place to talk about this but, when i got back on to drg not too long ago, my saves got split into sandbox and regular saves and the regular save had lost a lot of progress that i had made which is now on the sandbox save, despite this i don't have any mods that would've caused my save to go into a sandbox save
you had a sandbox type mod I guess
if you install one, it prompts you to make a new sandbox save that is eligible for sandbox mods
on your main save you just can't use sandbox mods at all
basically there's three approval categories for mods
verified can be used anywhere, approved can be used by the hosts and sandbox are used in separate saves
all due to what types of mods they usually are
