Armor Break with Hyper propellant still bugged. It used to penetrate armor and deal full damage. Currently it breaks the armor (praetorians, shellbacks, wardens) but does WAY less damage (might be the area damage from default pgl stats). This has been in the game for at least 6 months iirc.

I am trying to transfer my save from steam to the xbox version on PC, however my xbox game is not creating a SystemAppData\wgs folder and does not save anything. Could anyone help me diagnose this? I have tried reinstalling. No luck.

Have you run the Xbox version at least once? Maybe change a cosmetic item on a character to force the save, then exit and check for the folder

I have, yes. Do I need to run a mission to make save? For reference, this folder did exist, but when I moved my save over to the xbox version and re-luanched, it went back to the tutorial and wiped everything. I reinstalled to see if that might help the issue and that is when it stopped making the save folder all together. I'll try running a regular mission and getting a cosmetic.

You need to make sure that the file name AND file extension exactly match the file youre replacing. In this case, the Steam save file has an extension of .sav while the Xbox save file has no extension. You'll need to turn on "Show extensions for known file types" in the File Explorer Options in Windows to make it easier to see and edit file extensions as well as names.

Well, you've said two different things, so I'm not sure exactly what's going on. You said the folder isn't there, but then you said you did copy the file over into the folder but it wiped everything, implying the folder IS there. You might want to double check you're looking in the right folders. I've never tried to use any of the tools because the process is fairly easy to do manually (and allows me to make a backup in the process, in case anything goes wrong), so I can't vouch for them

You should have AppData\Local\Packages\CoffeeStainStudios.DeepRockGalactic_496a1srhmar9w\SystemAppData\wgs\[a bunch of numbers and letters]\[a bunch of numbers and letter again]\
and the save file should be here. Its file name is just a bunch of letters and numbers

Ah, so maybe my one message wasn't clear enough. The file location was there until I attempted to reinstall the xbox game after the tool did not work. I reinstalled the game and now it is unable to create a wgs folder. There is nothing in ....AppData\Local\Packages\CoffeeStainStudios.DeepRockGalactic_496a1srhmar9w\SystemAppData besides the "Helium" folder.

To add, since reinstalling I have simply tried to play normally but no progress is saved after I exit the game. I did a mission and bought a cosmetic, but it all disappears after exiting and reopening. No attempt to move saves or anything, l just playing.

I'm not sure how the the tool works exactly, but I don't think it caused these issues. But I'm not sure what would cause this to happen. You could try to contact the person who made the tool, and see if they've run into issues like this before. Other than that, I guess you could try rebooting, playing the tutorial, and then checking for the folders and file again. If the folders and files aren't there, I'd be interested to know what happens when you launch the game again. I'm not sure how it could load a save it's never created...

Other than cloud saves... but I would think that would sync...

You could try to use the Restore Save feature in the Options menu. It might force a local save to be created from a cloud save...

Also, if you played on Steam recently, the Steam version is ahead of Xbox by a patch. I wouldn't expect it to cause issues, but in general moving a save from a newer version of anything to an older version is more likely to cause issues than moving a save from an older version to a newer version

I doubt that's an issue with this, but it is something to be aware of

I don’t think so either, tool is pretty straight forward and most people say it works besides recently because of the mismatch between steam and Xbox version (according to the dev) However, progress done within the Xbox game wasn’t an issue until I did the reinstall. I got the wgs file section back, hooray! After doing a verify and repair files from within the xbox app (which froze) and a reboot, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it fixed it. All my settings were saved, I guess from the cloud? Idk. But awesome, I am back in business. I assume the verify and repair did whatever was needed even though it froze

They need to adjust the targeting point on Patrol Bots for the LOK-1, it's impossible to arc it enough to hit the head while on level ground, only can do when above. If they simply raised up a targeting point a bit, it may fix it

I gave the manual transfer a try, but it just gets replaced when I launch the game. I assume this is due to the mismatch in versions between steam and xbox, but I am not too worried about that (don't have a ton of play time), just glad my progress is getting saved. I’ve noticed this problem happens every time the developers update the game engine and major problems happen. First time when they had to rework network framework they had to update game engine and the game would not press a to continue and now it’s gotten at least a little better to open the game and play solo but to be honest this game is not meant to be played solo or with bosco. I know the developers try their best to release great updates but they need to go the way that astroneer developers did and hire a team dedicated to windows/Xbox builds since even the developers stated they are well financed they could afford that team but this is just my 2 cents worth of whatever 2 cents is worth nowadays

I also not recommend using my name in anything as things I do/type seem to come off badly but to be honest I try to mean well since this game has a hell of potential to the greatest game ever made but small to major problems prevent that from happening.

Here’s a short background on what games happen when i buy them. I buy a game and play it for 2 weeks and I forget about it and now when I bought DRG on day 1 game preview I played it and I’ve been playing that game now for over 3 years aka since day 1 game preview

The reason why I’m either annoying is I really care what happens to DRG as a game and I love to see the game grow in both content and player base but when I see a game that crashes a lot or get no content I get annoyed

Just look at red dead online as an example

Honestly when it even comes to jobs in real life I always do 110% work effort and that’s why I had to quit working retail because I did 110% effort and all my coworkers did nothing and let me do it all

I even try to do free QA testing 110% but things that happen I can’t reproduce or help since I don’t have the professional tools to help

Nibbles, I think everyone knows you mean well. Sometimes we don't have all the information necessary to see the whole story and we make assumptions that aren't true. For example, you just said "since even the developers stated they are well financed they could afford that team," but financial security doesn't not necessarily mean ability to expand the team size. And expanding the team size could actually greatly slow down any progress for a while, as new folks have to get up to speed to get to work, so sometimes expanding isn't the quickest way to make changes.
I think everyone knows you're have the best interests of DRG in mind, but it sometimes feels like you forget that the devs also have the best interests of DRG in mind, and have proved it over and over again. Things just take time.
Anyway, thank you for caring, and thank you for helping how you can. And I'm sure the devs appreciate community assistance when they could use it as well

I always recommend going where your friends are first. There is very limited benefit to going to Steam (unless you really, really want to play with mods, which are only officially available on the Steam version). If you mostly use matchmaking or play solo, Steam might provide a better experience overall, but not even close to better than being able to play with your friends, in my opinion

You can wait for a fix, and try to play with your friend, or you can move to Steam (perhaps with your friend); both are valid options

Anyone else having issues running the game on Xbox / Windows Store? It doesn't sound like that "black screen" error steam was having, instead everything loads up the space rig initializing screen, then hangs and never loads the game.

I don't think black screen issue is totally unique to Steam, although CTD is more common for XBox PC version. I've never had issues with mine, but I'd try a full uninstall/reinstall to start off with, if you haven't already

Reinstall hasn't helped. I've tried on a console as well, it wasn't able to sync the save data and then when told to use last saved data instead it's also sticks on the loading screen.

Worst case scenario, you could do what’s called a “pro gamer move” and give yourself everything you had with a cheat engine and then transfer your save if that’s really what happened

Hard to say how common, really. It certainly is an issue for a bunch of folks, but I've only played multiplayer with friends since Season 2 began, and, beside the first day when myself and a friend had a few crashes, the 6 people I've played with have had maybe one or two crashes since Season 2 began.
And that's probably part of the reason it's proving to be difficult to quickly fix: it's not affecting everyone. Along with the lack of crash information getting back to the devs, if it doesn't crash for them it can be very, very challenging to figure out exactly what is happening

Did the EDD a second time because my wife wasn't there when I ran it the first.

On the first stage right in the pod room, a our 200 level gunner went down fast after an egg was pulled and typed some message like "Guess we aren't going to bother doing the objectives". Then they promptly left the mission.

I don't understand people. Like what more do you want besides pulling the egg almost immediately? 😂 I think they were just mad they ran off and died. But I hate when people leave like that on dives because then you obviously can't fill the spot.

On my EDD we had a near fatal panicked decision where a dumbass gunner (it’s always the gunner) ordered a resupply 30sec before the drop pod was gonna leave and then died. It’s a miracle we completed it…

Honestly I think I’m done with DRG. I’ve dealt with problems with games before that had a lot of problems and were fixed fairly quick and they seem to not repeat that mistake but it seems DRG has gotten worse over time just adding content and fixing bugs but not really testing it out on windows/Xbox fully before testing it. I’m willing to help out developers/QA testers as much as I could but it doesn’t help when they can’t/won’t even release some beta testing for windows/Xbox since it has different stuff vs steam build. Thanks for letting me vent and I’ll still be on here to help troubleshoot when I can.

Just to go on record I’m not trying to complain or get mad at developers I’m just upset that they release stuff that hasn’t been fully tested and people out in the world including me are willing to help beta test updates but it’s not possible because Microsoft can’t allow quick updates in insider builds and the only other thing the developers can do is have a login on there website to allow sideloading DRG beta builds once people turn on developer mode on their computer

Or the developers can push back updates for Microsoft version to allow insider testing to make sure things go right

Hard to say how common it is. There's been a fair few folks in here who have reported having multiplayer crash the game shortly after joining or hosting, but besides a few crashes on the very first day of Season 2, I've played with six different friends for quite a few hours with none of us having issues. We've had open parties and let random folks join as well, and almost all have stayed in the mission from the time they joined until after returning to the space rig.
So in my personal experience, there isn't even an issue to fix. Which is, I suspect, why it is proving so difficult to fix the issue. If the devs aren't able to experience it either, it makes it a lot more difficult to figure out and fix what causes it. I have no doubt they'll get it fixed, but the harder it is to find the longer it'll take...

Sea of thieves is pretty dope. Also great if you love cooperative team games. Though a totally different vibe from DRG.

DRG is way better though. And while there are some bugs, compared to SoT it makes you appreciate having a stable game where things get fixed. (as long as you aren't nibbles or allegedly armor break though at this point I don't know if that's a meme or if it actually doesn't work)

Yeah like @rotund dagger said, out of my three person group playing Xbox version on PC, one of us has the crash issue, the other two do not. So between our two reported groups, it's something like 1 in 10 having the crash problem. I would guess the actual ratio of people having problems to those not could be less, but it's really hard to say how common it is or isn't. Obviously the people who come here to complain are a self-selected group and will seem to be a lot. But we can't really know how many people aren't coming here to complain b/c they have no problem, yanno?

Hence also why it's harder for devs to fix this one. They need the concrete steps to reproduce the bug to fix it very effectively. The fewer people (and at first glance the more random who they are seems to be), the harder fixing is.

Gaaahhhh! I thought they fixed the nemesis spawning right on you. But this is the second time in not that many rivals missions that I've had one spawn right on me out of no where. It's getting so old. Literally the second I hear it I have just enough time to turn around before getting grabbed. I was drilling extra room behind the Uplink so I was even looking every direction as I was moving around it and it just pops up. Same as the other week when in the literal first room.

I've ran the bare minimum rivals missions and have pretty much given up on actually getting all Scrip for season 2 because I just don't like that modifier, but every time I convince myself "well I'll just run one" it's the most frustrating experience ever. I'm ready for this season to be over and ready to not have to deal with all these bugs.

Please GSG, less content, fewer updates, more bug testing and making things stable! You already had a perfect game. People can wait for shiny new toys if it means it works right.

I think they'll get it fixed. Some of the ones I've complained about for a while, especially how Escort used to be buggy as hell, have gotten so much better. I can't remember the lasts time I lost audio after killing all dread... Though I feel your pain as multiplayer has got to be frustrating. The problem is a great game having the enjoyment sucked out of it for technical, rather than content reasons.

I'm also fine with the fact that it's a small studio, and they don't have unlimited resources. That's why you aren't going to hear me say just pump a bunch of stuff out and make it perfect, rather my vote is to reduce the output, make less content but more streamlined and smooth.

Especially since you know your consols won't even be able to get bug fixes for like a week.

And please don't do something major like an engine update with a big update that releases a new enemy and events. Too many moving parts. Make it easier on themselves and the lives of their players better.

Not everyone has a mic, this isn't a new thing that only happens in DRG. They might only have time for one mission, they might not want to continue playing with their current team. That last point is on Microsoft, not DRG.

One thing to check if you're unable to join or host (this will not fix the current multiplayer issues that began with Season 2):
Make sure both your Time and your Time Zone are set to automatic. If your system clock is not accurate, it will prevent you from playing multiplayer

That's why I mentioned that checking the time will not fix the multiplayer issue that started with Season 2, but it is something worth checking because it causes a similar problem and is something that a user can do. The Season 2 issue has to be fixed by the devs. They've already said they are working to have patches out next week, and we'll all have to wait and see if those fix the Season 2 multiplayer issue

Season 2 began about a month ago. Seasons are planned to last a few months at least (the first one lasted about 5 - 6 months). You're never actually too late for a season though, because all of the stuff available from the Performance Pass and Cosmetic Tree will be available to find in Cargo Crates or Cosmetic Cores after the season ends (it'll just take some time to find it all, and the Cosmetic Cores will take some credits and minerals to craft at the Forge)

You can't ever miss anything from a current or previous season, it's just a little easier to earn them during the season

While MS Store doesn't have official support baked in, you can definitely mod the PC version. I have no idea how, and it isn't as wide spread. You may need to do some Googleing.

Common courtesy is to mark your server name letting people know your game is modded if running them.

Of course since there isn't support, it's entirely possible your game or save file gets trashed while using mods that are not supported. I doubt anyone is making anything malicious, but since the devs aren't designing updates with people who use unofficial mods in mind (not that they're actively trying to stop people from modding, just they're not actively making sure unofficial mods won't break themselves or the game or your save file), the potential for things to break with possibly no safeguard is something to be aware of

It's your choice what you do with your game, but as cthepo mentions it's appropriate to make people joining you aware that you're running a modded version. At the very least, if you wanted to play around with whatever unsupported stuff is out there, I would suggest making a backup of your save file

So it's looking a lot like my save file on Xbox is corrupted. 500+ missions, all 4 classes to silver level promotion, $1mil in credits, tonnes of other resources, all weapons unlocked, lethal difficulty unlocked, had hit level 100 of season one and completed the cosmetic tree, about level 30 of season 2. If you are just trying to backup your save file, you can follow the instructions for transferring your save file found in the pinned messages in this channel to find your save file, and then you can save a backup whenever you like

Have you tried the in-game Restore Save feature? It's in the Options menu on the Pause screen. It should give you a list of recent backup save files that are stored in the cloud, and you can try one of those to see if they're exhibiting the same issue

You just copy the save file, and paste it someplace safe that makes sense. That's a backup

Maybe put it in a folder named DRG Backup (and maybe add the date, so you know when the backup was made)

No, you're absolutely right. It definitely does not always mean faster production. But, one person can only work on so much at one time. Two people will not get twice as much done in the same time, but they will likely get more done than one person in the same time. The law of diminishing returns means at some point more people will no longer get any more work done in the same amount of time as fewer people, but I agree that GSG probably isn't there yet

Please keep in mind that we are like 10 people working on getting fixes made, tested, put out on several platforms, and we also have to juggle future stuff, community and a ton of other things. All the while those people also have vacation, sick days or in my case, a month of parental leave that slow things down.

I completely get that it is frustrating when the game doesnt work as well as we want it to, but we are doing what we can, trying to solve issues with 0 clues, but there are never sinister motives, it is ALWAYS a case of, stuff just taking the time it takes, since there is a lot of stuff to take care of.

And the answer to that is Yes. Yes it was.

People who don't have this issue never have it. But for those that have it, it happens every time and nothing they can try themselves works. I have a friend with this problem, he hasn't been able to join my missions since S2 launched even tho he had no problems before.
So those affected seem to be a low percentage of players. But when they are affected, they're stuck playing solo or not at all

I have a similar bug that others have but is slightly different. I can see players in their other multiplayer sessions, but when i click to join, i'm stuck with the "loading..." icon, and it won't budge, ever. It will literally not allow me to join or host any multiplayer game what so ever. so yeah i too am stuck on solo.
and if you're wondering what i've tried to fix it, trust me i've tried everything.

cancelled the joining
disbanded my team
restarting the game
restarting my computer
checking if its on the most recent version (it is)
uninstalling/reinstalling the game
uninstalling/reinstalling xbox app
checked my network(its fine)
checked my xbox privacy settings(its fine)
checked my antivirus(it leaves drg alone)
attempting to repair the app via windows advanced settings
contacting Microsoft support(didn't help)

then did all this at least twice
so yeah just remember if you don't got a bug doesn't mean no one else does, bc bugs can be caused by various unique factors that definitely outweigh it being just certain "buggy" version. as with this bug, 90% of players have been lucky to not encounter it, and i was one of them until i took a week break and it suddenly broke on me, as it can happen to you too my friend, so consider yourself fortunate

You said you've tried a bunch of stuff (so forgive me if you've said you tried this and I missed it), but, if you haven't yet, make sure your time and time zone are set to automatic.
In Windows Settings, Time & Language, Date & time, make sure "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" are both turned on. An incorrect system clock will prevent multiplayer from working

I don't play the W10 version that often, so I really don't have any basis for this. But is it possible teredo is causing the connection issues people have? I have had my fair share of issues relating to teredo not functioning and it's caused me to be unable to play Halo MCC, join Xbox parties on windows, and all sorts of crap.

There's a menu in W10 called "Xbox Networking" that lets you see if your teredo is able to qualify.

Hey i haven't had the time to watch all the dev streams and whatnot so can someone tell me if its on the menu of coming updates or not?
I know cross compatibly between windows store and steam will be difficult and isn't something to expect anytime soon, but what about Transferring your account over? Like I've been playing drg on xbox to windows store and i bought drg on steam to be disappointed i couldnt transfer my account. The multiplayer issues especially seem to be mostly affecting windows store drg as well, also many active people here play only steam drg, and so do some of the friends I've made here that I'd love to play with, just some more reasons I'd love to transfer.
Once transfered, it doesn't have to constantly sync, it'll just be a transferred copy to continue where you left off.
Do the devs have something planned like this anytime soon? Has it already been suggested?

Fairly certain that person was simply meaning that things take time, and with fewer folks working on a project that things can understandably often take longer. No one anywhere even came close to suggesting that the devs do nothing at all -- for any reason, let alone because of team size. What a weird way to read that.

If this started recently, as in since the Season 2 update, it's likely caused by the update. It's an issue that's affecting others as well, but not everyone. The devs are aware and are working to get it fixed. Since it's not affecting everyone, it's been particularly hard to find the cause and fix it.
The devs are aiming to have a patch out any day now, and hope it'll fix this issue (as well as bring us up to date with the patches Steam has already received)

So I played on PC game pass, then last night I played a bit on my xbox, seemed like it had trouble syncing to the cloud but eventually all good, had my save. this morning I went to play and noticed everything I did last night on my xbox didnt save, strange, so I tried doing a few things, looking for a sync or cloud setting, ultimately tried reinstalling the game to see if that would fix it but then was met with the tutorial... did I just screw myself?

I'm not aware of any region lock, but I believe that if your computer's physical location does not match the region it is set to in Settings, the Microsoft Store or Xbox app might not let you download games

If you crash when trying to join other people or have other people join you, then it's a known issue that doesn't affect everyone, the devs are working on.it, and it's hard to fix because it only happens to some people.
