It works, what happens is if you try and use the Keyboard, it breaks it till game instance resets such as disbanding drop pod or finishing a mission @vestal breach

They got a patch out on PlayStation today so they can perhaps focus a bit more on Xbox now, but they have a 3-day weekend, so I wouldn't expect any patches here until next week at the earliest (unless the 3-day weekend starts on Saturday and they can get out a patch tomorrow...)

Oh yeah I forgot this update involved an engine update. To be honest that makes me feel much more lenient on all these bugginess of some of the stuff. I'm sure there's a crap ton of under the hood stuff that just needs patching with an engine update. If this were just a normal update I'd probably be like, "Yo! You guys gotta play test more" but I figure something that intensive has to have its share of issues inherently. I'm sure they'll get it worked out, not to say it doesn't suck for those affected.

No one in the history of software development has ever caught every bug before the software was release. You can spend 100x more time and money on QA testing than you did, and you will still have people finding bugs. At some point, the only way to find bugs is to release it to the public, because the only way to fully test the software is to fully use it as it's intended

Some bugs are harder to find and fix than others. I can't say how bad either of these bugs are, or how they compare, but GTA is a large, open-world game supporting a bunch of players at once, and as such is much more complicated a piece of software than DRG. But even that is only a part of the equation. All I can say for sure is GSG has proven themselves dedicated and capable; I'm sure they'll get things right as quickly as they can

I recommend focusing on leveling up characters so you can unlock weapons and more perk slots. This is not to say neglect perks or anything, but perk points will come with doing assignments pretty naturally as you'll get sent to all kinds of different things anyway.
Rather, I'd look up recommendations on the most useful perks and focus my unlocking efforts with the perk points that build up just by playing (without worrying about chasing them)

I know cave generation is different on steam than xbox so not sure if this applies to everyone, but some of the new Season 2 cave generation, while really cool, has made playing missions without a driller a real pain. Noticed on hollow bough huge chunks of red tree blocking whole hallways and just taking forever to dig through. Also crystalline caverns, they just ramped up all those white slanted crystals and it makes stuff like finding fossils and navigating kind of a pain. It's visually cool and definitely interesting, but it does make certain missions a little more of a slog if you aren't running with a driller.

I'm so conflicted with Season 2. I wasn't able to play this weekend while out of town, so I get back late and decide to do my absolute favorite thing:

Look for refining missions without driller and come in as one to help them complete. It bring me so much joy, especially when it's Greenbeards who have no idea how to get to certain pumpjacks. A couple missions in and a prospector pops up, then a nemesis appears almost immediately after starting the fight. The rivals just kind of leach my enjoyment out of the game. I stayed to finish the mission but decided to just go to bed after. The one thing that salvaged the night was getting to buy some Greenbeards flintlock delights and seeing their reaction. I cannot wait for Season 3 to get here; I'm legitimately excited to see what direction they go after rivals!

The room we were in was awful, just a massive shaft with ledges on the side, so the only person who could actually navigate it quickly was scout. We didn’t have a driller either.

I just checked the JIRA page for the keyboard issue and it does state resolved. Keep in mind that the patch comes out to Steam first so perhaps it's not mentioning something consol specific in the notes, or they forgot to note it, or maybe it's not in this upcoming patch. Hopefully this means it's getting fixed soon - it being marked resolved has to be good.

also this is no longer true since microsoft allows mods on windows store and xbox, Because of the ecosystem of microsoft, modding is currently not supported on the windows store/xbox version of the game.

As of now it is only supported on the steam version of the game.

We are all just slaves captured by DRG (If that really is their real name) from a primitive planet for our determination, strength, and our senses which are accustomed to dark and claustrophobic places. Management wipes our memories, besides our basic survival instincts, and sends us down to Hoxxes tricking us into believing that we’ll be rewarded. If we manage to survive the hostilities, management gifts is with probably fake credits that can be used to buy items that management sells to us, which in the end only benefit them. Ranks and cosmetics cause green beards to be jealous and can easily burst a dwarf’s short temper, causing them to work harder. Only the longest surviving dwarfs get overclocks from managements clearly purposeful machine events and that ensures that the most skilled get the best gear, playing right into managements hands.

I'd like to see Driller's axes be pick-up-able by anyone, so anyone can recover one and immediately use it. Unless you're a Driller, you could only hold the one axe in your hands, and if you switch weapons you drop it. Pressing attack would throw it the way the Driller throws it. Anyone have trouble moving their progress from steam to windows? I have tried multiple youtube guides and even a fan-made tool (called KarlSaver) to transfer progress but have no luck. Every time I move my steam save file and replace and rename it into the windows save game folder, it just makes a new one with a completely different name, and puts me in the tutorial everytime. I was wondering whether it could have been a result of this most recent update or if I am doing something wrong.

It is entirely possible that this update has changed something in such a way that we can no longer move save files between versions. There was an engine upgrade included in the Season 2 update, and that could easily change something about how files save and load. As cthepo mentioned, someone else was experiencing similar issues with save transfers from Steam to Microsoft as well.
Also, since the update just recently came out, patches are also coming out relatively quickly and patches always come out on Steam first. This means that the different platforms can potentially be on different enough versions that save files are not actually compatible. I'm not sure that this is the case, but it is a possibility. It's generally probably safer/higher chance of compatibility to move a save forward rather than backwards, and the Steam version is currently ahead of Microsoft.
But I mostly suspect the engine upgrade is what's causing these issues

It makes sense that the season 2 update may have caused these problems, but it also seems that the issue may also be with the container file within the xbox save folder. Something about it recording info about the xbox save and not recognizing the new save after being replaced. So it may still be possible to transfer saves but the container file would have to be taken into account.

Oh, it's highly unlikely that the save data itself has been made different across platforms. I only meant to point out that across different version numbers/patches it could become different enough to potentially cause issues when transferring a newer save to an older version. I assume an older save would always move to a newer version okay, otherwise save files would break with each update (and that would be a huge issue).
Anyhow, yes, the Microsoft version has not previously seemed to do anything to package the save data differently than Steam, otherwise a straight copy, replace, rename would not work as it has previously. The engine upgrade could have changed how files are saved and loaded (and/or the engine plugins needed to build the Microsoft/Xbox version). I don't expect any of it is intentional, but it very easily could be an unexpected side-effect of a new engine version or new plugin version

Well, the new Season 2 just came out, and that seems to have created a few issues multiplayer issues for some folks (but not all, it's bizarre to say the least), but that wouldn't explain issues you've had prior to the Season 2 release. However, the current issues could potentially add on to any other issues you've been experiencing. That said, there's some things you can check/try:
For a long time now, there has been a small issue with sessions desyncing that is fixable by having everyone exit and relaunch the game, so I suggest always trying that when you run into issues joining friends.
There is also an issue with multiplayer if your system time is not accurate. It's best for you and your friends to go into Windows Settings, Time & language, Date & time, and make sure that "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" are both turned on

i appreciate the response but ive done that and thousand things more to try and get the game to work. it has to be on their end. this is the only game i own through microsoft that doesnt work online at all. i changed my time zone several times and set it to automatic. forwarded all my ports for gaming. got my NAT type to open through xbox gaming. factory reset my router. loaded a save back from awhile ago to see if that would fix. unsubscribed to game pass and resub scribed. uninstalled the game and reinstalled. checked all files for repairs. idk what else to do

That's frustrating, and rather unusual (but not completely unique, I do think there have been a small handful of folks over the years who've expressed similar experiences). I'm afraid there's not much else that comes to mind that you haven't tried. I know that sometimes having the PC's region set to something other than its actual physical region can cause issues with the Store, but I'm not sure if that would also cause multiplayer issues. Only other thing that I know has caused issues for some has been Gaming Services not working/not updating correctly, but I think that was more with getting the game working at all, rather than just the multiplayer side of things.
All I can suggest is to check #420195388675588096 and try to submit your issue there so it can be tracked. It can be incredibly hard to find a bug that you can't reproduce or see (which is why I believe only some people are having issues joining after the most recent update; plenty of folks are not having issues at all, and, if that includes the devs, it can be difficult to find the issue)

Yes. The last two achievements are new (compared to base set of 67), and were added when we got the On-Site Refining and Escort missions. However, Xbox makes it somewhat complicated to add achievements to a title (at least, as far as I understand it), while Steam doesn't care what you do and PlayStation came out after those achievements were added, so that's why Xbox is lacking the two newest

Hey guys. So ive been playing this game since launch and never had any issues. my friend just got the game and everytime they go to join a friend or have a friend join their session the game just crashes and closes. no error codes or anything. Does anyone have any ideas at all on how to fix this? We've done all the usual tests of checking for updates, redownloaded the game, reset PC, checked the firewall, drivers you name it. but cant figure out why the game just crashes when joining another player who is a friend. game runs fine in solo and joining a game from the terminal. but the moment a friend joins, crash. Not really, but Unions aren't that either. Unions are pretty much nothing but click a button and after a month you'll get a few bonus credits/minerals. That's it.
As far as grouping up, there was an Xbox Club for DRG, but I don't know how active it is. Then there's the LFG channels here in this discord: #lfg-xbox-microsoft .
Outside of those, I'm not really aware of anything else. I imagine if you use voice chat in-game you might come across other folks looking to group up and hang out, but voice chat also isn't really needed (because the laser pointer and salute can already provide decent communication), so it seems plenty of folks don't use it

That's one of the reasons I've waited until like now to try the weapons despite unlocking them all day 1. I know they're going to rebalance them so I figure if I wait a few patches I won't be hurt.

For what it's worth, the wave cooker and shard defractor feel really fun - haven't tried the other two. The CWC feels a little underpowered compared to other driller secondary (haven't been using the temp shock meta), but it's still really fun which is more important - plus it fills a crowd control niche for builds like sludge blast and face melter. Only done one mission with the defractor (Haz 4 Mactera plague) and it was a blast. Also I remember people complaining about switching it from a full ammo dump, but personally feels like the requirement for you to wait until full recharge kind of gives you that "blast away" feeling.

Somewhere in the last year, deep dives started defaulting to selecting as solo. This has caused a few party disbands. And honestly reduced the number of people hosting who just aren't paying attention. Please devs, at least revert it to friends only, or don't default it to anything at all and makes us pick. It'd be a much appreciated quality of life thing.

Don't know if it was just an accident in another update, or if it was intentional (why??), but it's definitely inconvenient.

Wasn't there a time when we could type with a keyboard without having the Xbox digital keyboard taking all the screen? I just remembered yesterday I used to be able to see what I was typing in the bottom left chatbox in real time but now nothing shows up until you actually press Enter to send. I think that was before 1.0, I did notice and mentioned it at the time but I think I had taken a break before that so when I came back I couldn't tell exactly why chatting felt sluggish. That keyboard causes delay in gameplay because it often takes time to load up so you need to make sure there's no bugs around before attempting to type something, used to be able to type stuff like "yes,no, R" midair and have it sent almost instantaneously when landing but now you're left standing still for at least 3seconds before the keyboard gets off screen

It probably is. TBH this is my favorite game of all time and I've always shilled it hard to everyone who will listen but Season 2 has been an extreme frustration. I'd rather just roll back all the content, it was a perfect game before. I wouldn't trade what makes it great for this mess.

Like, the bugs where Nemesis are supposed to not just spawn next to you was supposed to be fixed for Xbox and we had to wait a week to get the patch. I'd stopped doing rival assignments and was just going to avoid them, but I stupidly let myself be tricked into one because I love low gravity and "it's just a 200 morkite with dark morkite". Well in the starting room, I'm pick axing away, I hear the voice line once and get grabbed the moment I look up. Stuff like that is such BS.

I get that they're a small company. If that's the limitation they should just produce less content, and actually get the game right and enjoyable. From an enjoyment perspective Season 2 has been a disaster for me. I know scaling back content additions brings less newer players and less cash, but not having the time to properly play test and bug hunt and fix things is just a pain for all the users who've supported your game. It just feels like a slap in the face, especially since this week was like the first time they actually acknowledged they were working on some of the more egregious fixes like multiplayer.

For the record, I've actually managed to fix this issue as of now. The problem seemed to be related to the game using DirectX 12, as I'm no longer receiving crashes since doing the following:

  • Putting "-dx11" in Steam launch options.
  • Changing "bUseD3D12InGame" from True to False in "GameUserSettings.ini".
    In case anyone else is still experiencing crashes and looking for a solution, I recommend you to try these fixes.

Legit tho, the control over program function is really needed on PC given how unstandardized PCs can be, and the Xbox store service for PC is depressingly devoid of the kind of user-end control for settings that Steam has.

Does anyone else have issues with their xbox controller not work 100% properly when playing? The left trigger acts, or almost acts, as if its always held down or super sensative. I cant pick a character at the select screen cause the selection is going a mile a minute. I tested a ps5 controller, and the selection screen is still an issue, but not as bad.

I have the steam version of the game and my controller is working fine with all other games.

To answer your first question I have to answer your comment. Yes it’s custom, but not in any significant way. There may be slight optimizations to the kernel and drivers used, but the core is windows 10. The desktop environment, the UI, is really the only significant difference. As to why it’s not working on your computer. It could be anything from incorrectly installed drivers, the windows store being a piece of shit, or the moon is out of phase.

I've had multiple games that end on difficulty 3 with 0 in every slot, me running aimlessly for Nitra deposits

Haz 3 can be difficult when you don't have many perks unlocked or upgraded, and when you don't have many weapon modifications active.
When first starting out, Haz 2 is not a bad place to start, so that you can gather the resources needed to unlock the weapons and mods, and start accumulating perk points

As you upgrade your weapons, you'll often have more ammo, you the ammo you have will be more effective (meaning you use less to take out the same amount of bugs as before). And, Nitra can sometimes be a little hard to spot without a Scout to really light things up, but it's usually rather plentiful

Don't forget you can also upgrade Bosco. Maybe instead of digging in and fighting as much, you stay mobile, wait to aim up more weakpoint shots while Bosco does the bulk of damage.

At the very least, just keep at it. I know it's frustrating losing, but trying and failing is actually a great way to improve at this game. I tell people my team failed 80% of Haz 4's when we first moved up. It was brutal. Eventually we're tweaked builds, got better, and just started feeling more comfortable at the Hazard and it honestly feels chill now whenever I play it.

Like others said, perks and unlocking weapon mods will help. If you're using a specific character and loadout feel free to share. Such as "I'm using gunner Autocanon with 21111 and combat mobility overclock and BRT no overclock 13232" (the number responding to what column the mod you picked was for).

but whats weird is after crashing i cant open the game unless i wait a long time then i could open it again or restarting my computer lets me open it again

It’s not open in task manager after crashing and clicking once to open it does nothing and doesn’t show up in task manager

What I will do is record a session and post it on my YouTube channel since discord doesn’t like 4K recordings of my game crashing lol

im uploading video now and then you can skip to about 50 seconds and on about 52-53 seconds is when i crash

im no expert but either it might be a memory leak with playfab networking code or resource management issue with networking code

hopefully first patch notes on that channel will be fixing the windows build crashing with multiplayer lol

i already gave my 2 cents worth of resource management with network coding or playfab memory leak or playfab needs updating since game engine got updated as well

the game opens up a small window saying signing in checking for updates and syncing data and i load in the spacerig fine solo missions are fine just multiplayer sessions crash

im guessing windows 11, playfab needs updating or memory leak are what my guesses are the problems but im firing in the dark(no pun intended)

on my video at about 50-52 seconds when my flamethrower stops firing is when crash happens, so like 1-2 second before video ends is when game crashes

what ill do is try reinstalling DRG and see if that does anything at all for a 2nd time

i know installing DRG on an SSD is not causing the problem lol

this is really annoying me that i can reproduce the crash everytime but microsoft sucks at detailed crash reports

well DUCK microsoft and not having the ability to verify files, i reinstalled the game for a 2nd time and now i havent crashed yet

something about microsofts update process with season 2 messed up on the update that was suppose to fix multiplayer crashing aka update corruption from microsoft store @regal breach

Yeah Microsoft's installation and update management for XBox PC gaming just on the user end is a pretty user unfriendly experience, which makes me wonder just how much of a spaghetti code nightmare it is under the covers. I've had a lot of trouble with the program not finding updates, updates not auto installing when expected, and updating that makes you download the whole game over again for what should be minor changes. It's only started to become slightly better in the year (or two?) since they changed over to a completely new launcher. But I'm still just crossing my fingers that it works right every time I'm trying to deal with adding/updating an install.

Next time I crash with the error message I’ll post it, it’s usually a game bar message box. If it’s not that, I crash straight to the desktop

Happens all the time if the session has existed for more than 1 mission

any help for multiplayer issues? anytime i try to join a lobby, it takes 20+ minutes for me to load in, and even then the screen is only half lit and nothingaround me is moving nor can i move. if my friend joins my lobby, he can move and everything, but i cannot as soon as he accepts the invite

@obtuse fiber can you go look at the videos in the DLC screen and character select screen, then runaround the spacerig a couple minutes and see what happens
