Completing primary and secondary objectives and getting out as fast as possible is the fastest way to level. I bet the sweet spot is about Haz 2, maybe 3, ignoring most enemies and nitra, and just speeding through objectives

Most EDDs are roughly equal difficulty, but some really are worse. You want at least 3 people, as they're harder as a duo; if one person goes down the remaining person is the only target for all the bugs which makes revives tough

#

Driller, Engineer, Scout combo is quickest at getting around and getting to objectives. Scout won't be great at clearing enemies, but the mobility more than makes up for it, and Driller and Engineer will clean up bugs quite nicely

#

That said, a good Gunner is nothing to dismiss from the mix. I'm just not a good Gunner, haha

The Engi-Scout combo for getting objectives, nitra, whatever is incredibly useful. To be sure, EDDs can be done without a Driller, but I feel that a competent Driller increases your odds of success significantly. A Driller can kill more than a Gunner and can get themself and everyone else around way quicker

But most importantly for increasing your odds is just having at least three solid players

So many weeks of failing an EDD multiple times as a duo, to then have another friend be able to join and we finish it first try without breaking a sweat

The one other thing I gotta praise wthin the procedural Generation for DRG is how it rolls what mix of enemies you're gonna get and at what intensity. I've had some H5's with less enemies than some H3's, and had plenty of 3's with absolutely heinous spawns of hordes. It's a fantastic touch that keeps it fresh for sure

Nope! DRG is a Play Anywhere title, so you can buy it once from either the Xbox Store on console or the Microsoft Store on PC and then play it on either console or Windows PC whenever you like

Steam is not included, as it's a different service, so you will have to buy it again on Steam if you wish to copy your save for use with the Steam version

There's not really a "this is always the fastest way" answer, but you want to try to get the primary and secondary objectives completed and get out as fast as possible. Your main chunk of XP per mission comes from completing the two objectives, everything else (minerals mined, etc.) is just a little bonus.

So, if you have a limited amount of play time available:

  • Set the Hazard Level so that it makes completing missions highly successful, probably Haz 2 if you're just starting out, but don't be too proud to do Haz 1 if you're just worried about leveling up. Haz 1 is very easy, but you are extremely unlikely to fail, which means guaranteed XP. The bonus XP for higher difficulties means very little if you don't complete the mission.
  • Choose short missions with objectives that are quicker to complete, like 200 Morkite or 4 Eggs; you do get more XP from longer missions, but if you can complete two short missions in the same time as a long mission, you'll probably have earned more XP from the two short missions.
  • Do not be afraid to complete only the primary objective and get out if the secondary objective is proving to be time consuming. You only need to complete the primary objective to be able to call for Extraction. The secondary objective XP is usually worth a few minutes, but not if takes so long that you could have done most of another mission in the same amount of time.
  • Probably try to avoid Escort Missions as they typically take the longest and are probably a little harder.
  • Always go for the 2x XP missions that follow the above guidelines.
  • And if you're really trying to get to Level 25 for promotion as fast as possible, ignore the Assignment missions and follow the above guidelines.

TL;DR - Get in and out of missions as fast at possible on an easy difficulty

If you're really just trying to grind level, point extraction can be done very quickly with a group of drillers and one scout. But the only level threshold that actually matters is red lvl 25, which you'll reach in fairly short order just by picking missions you have a low chance of failing as Mako suggests

Failing a mission you've spent 30+ minutes on happens when you're adjusting to higher difficulties. While I definitely encourage people to step outside their comfort zone, if a lack of progression is stressful, that can really not feel good

I know you this isn't getting ro you quickly, but there are a few things to try when that happens.

First, have everyone who is trying to play together exit Deep Rock. Have everyone check their system time to make sure it is correct (set to update automatically). If a system time is incorrect it will prevent you from being able to connect.

Next, have everyone launch Deep Rock within a few minutes of each other. Wait until you are loaded into the space rig and are able to run around before inviting or joining. Even if system times are correct, Deep Rock sessions occasionally become out-of-sync and unjoinable after the game has been running for a while (sometimes as short as one mission and sometimes as long as several hours before this happens). Exiting Deep Rock and relaunching within a few minutes of each other will fix the desync and allow inviting and joining. If the exiting and relaunching doesn't work the first time, have everyone reboot their systems, and try relaunching within a few minutes of each other again.

If these things don't do it, there is some info about some account settings to check in the pinned messages in this channel.

I’m in need of support. I’ve had this issue for months now. Something happend to my game, when I launch the game it won’t load past the white guy who’s running, he keeps running until the screen goes black and then I have to Ctrl+alt+Del to end task. This issue has been consistent for a few months. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue is still there, I have tried to mess with the firewall settings but I don’t know what I’m doing there and I have disabled my windows defender and tried to launch the game but it didn’t work. I’m using steam and that is the platform which isn’t working, however, I also have xbox gamepass ultimate and when I installed the game through gamepass it worked just fine. I don’t want to use gamepass though. I have purchased this game for myself and my two kids, to play together.

Can you help me?

If that doesn't work, I'd try uninstalling, and then manually making sure all files are well and truly gone, including save files, before reinstalling

I'm not sure how likely this is, but it certainly seems within the realm of possibility that your save file is corrupt, and when the game tries to load your save, it gets stuck. If it is getting stuck on your save file, deleting it would get the game to load again, I would think

By the way, you may be able to find more Steam version specific help in the #drg-chat or possibly the #bug-discussion channels. I can't say for certain as I don't check those channels much, but this channel is mostly focused on the Xbox and Microsoft Store versions. Certainly no harm in asking here too, and it can be a little confusing because the channel name says windows, but you may find more people who have experienced what you're experiencing in the more Steam-focused sections

So first i have to install some game services thing (which i think happened) and then drg wasnt running so i decided to un/reinstall the game

You're using the version from the Microsoft Store? Sounds like you're in the process of checking for Windows updates, which would be my recommendation, and it wouldn't hurt to look for graphics card driver updates if you haven't done those in a while just to be safe.

Speaking of graphics card updates, it's important to make sure you meet the minimum specs required for DRG. I don't recall of the top of my head the minimum graphics requirements -- they're relatively light -- but some integrated graphics might not meet the minimum.

Then, there are some more advanced things to try, like Windows tools to make sure your Windows install is working correctly. I think searching "windows sfc" should get you info on using the Windows System File Checker, which might help if things are really messed up.

The people you are trying to join may have desync'd, which means they'd have to be the ones to exit and relaunch

To make things quicker, when playing with friends on comms, just have everyone exit and relaunch, but when playing with random folks that's a bit more complicated to coordinate

A hearty "Rock and Stone!" can do a lot, but it's not well suited to communicate "let's all restart real quick"

ive done almost all debug options, but as i play DRG on pc with the xbox compatible version, very rarely and somewhat on/off but has beed the downfalll of some games, my mouse will continue to track... but the mouse buttons will refuse to work, and i can click away and when the system feels like ive suffered enough my mouse will work again, i use logitech G502 lightspeed, but ivve also had this issue on my G703 lightspeed

I'd you're referring to the issue where you're holding down the mouse button and you stop firing your weapon and have to release the mouse button and click it again to start firing again, or similar types of events to that (using the grappling hook as scout, etc.), I'm not aware of a fix and I'm not sure what causes it. It happens infrequently, but feels bad every time it happens. I've not noticed a pattern to it, so finding the problem might be hard to do since it's not easily reproduced.

It is a very brief, but quite disruptive, interruption to the action. It feels like the game just loses the input for a moment, a second or less, and then everything is normal again.

So I'm afraid I don't have a good answer for you, but if your issue is worse than what I've described, I will suggest that you make sure your device drivers are installed (since you have a Logitech mouse usually that means installing Logitech gaming software), but if that were the case you'd likely notice the issue happening in other games and even out of games.

I suggest cursing when it happens. It doesn't fix the problem, but it makes me feel a little better...

Yeah, it's an issue with the Microsoft Store version. Myself and a friend usually experience it at least once every time we play.

We transitioned to running Haz 3 for the fun with random folks and the chill time with just a touch of challenge (not paying attention can still be fatal, but rarely is it fatal to the whole crew), so when it happens it's not terribly stressful for us, but on higher Hazard Levels or Deep Dives it's nerve-wracking, to be sure

Haz 4 is such a good sweet spot of challenge and feeling like a badass dwarf, but one toddler and one old, but very good, pup may pull one or another of us away at a moment's notice, so Haz 3 has been a perfect compromise to real life, haha. Plus, it encouraged us to open the party to random folks, which at times may make the mission more challenging, but rarely fails to make things more entertaining

The bug where game audio stays low like the voice line is playing and the text box remains on screen even after the voice line is done? I've not seen it myself as it only affects Xbox players, so I hope I'm thinking of the right thing.

I've never tried it myself (been a while since anyone I've played with mentioned it happening), but I believe someone once mentioned that if you leave the zone and go back in, it might fix it. They may have meant that everyone needs to leave the zone, because that will trigger Mission Control to warn everyone to stay close to the zone. It seems possible that the warning message may unstick whatever gets stuck with the main message, but I can't verify that

Give it a try and see how it does. V-Sync just gets rid of the screen tearing effect, but you don't have to use it. But sometimes a locked framerate is nice fore the consistency

I'm not sure if there's technical limitations to the Union stuff as well, but since Discord likely isn't used by a majority of Xbox players, because it's not able to be natively run on the console, the Discord integration is probably low priority. I know the recent Edge browser update on Xbox now allows you to access Discord from the browser, but it still doesn't work for voice chat, so I don't expect console usage to increase significantly. Maybe one day...

The "nerf" is that minerals now bounce around instead of falling neatly in a pile once blasted off the wall. The function of the mod itself wasn't really changed

As for making it easier to hit, you may find it easier with the projectile speed increase mod toggled off

DRG is buggy, but you can shoot almost all of them, so it ain't so bad. Icarus is first-release early access, so if you expected anything but bugs/crashes, you were fooling yourself. Come back to DRG, we have the fun bugs that'll really grab you and you can just let yourself get carried away in the good times...

All engines are tools, and they try to be one-size-fits-most tools at that. It takes a lot of work to make a game, and using an existing engine can expedite the process, but you still have to build your custom stuff on top of that engine. That isn't always easy or straightforward; sometimes you have to build more tools or functionality from the scratch because they're not part of the engine.

That said, engines can have bugs, problems, and limitations, and working around those can be tricky or very time consuming

On a first-release of an early access game, they're gonna be throwing everything they got out there and seeing what works and what breaks. I bet they're scrambling to get things stabilized. Kinda wild to release something new in an alpha/beta stare just before the weekend...

But there has not been an update for the Xbox and Windows versions for a while. Any recent patch notes you see there are pertaining only to the Steam version for the mod support update and subsequent hotfixes. When Update 35 comes out, in about 4 weeks (for the Steam version, at least), the patch notes for Update 35 will be posted and will be what we can look forward to when the Xbox/Windows version is ready (usually about two weeks after the Steam version)

I have an issue, and maybe someone could assist.

This is a black screen issue. I own the game through steam, however am trying to play though the windows store. The game runs perfect on steam, no issue. However, the windows store version will go the loading screen with the man running, and then go black directly after.

I have cleared my window cache, I have updated windows, my GPU drivers are up to date, I even forced GPU scaling in-case it was a resolution issue.

Reinstalled multiple times, through both XBOX app and the windows store app. Any possible solutions would be amazing
Have attempted to delete the three movie files, however even after taking ownership of the folder AND using fileassassin they still will not delete.

I've had a lot of trouble withthe wondows store version on PC. What has helped for me: go into the Add or Remove Programs menu, find DRG, click the "advanced options" and terminate it. Then find the Microsoft store in the same list, use advanced options to terminate it and reset it. Then go back to DRG in this list and repair it and reset it. Sometimes it works without the MS Store steps. And sometimes the MS Store troubleshooter has helped instead. That is accessible from the Windows troubleshooter menu under "more troubleshooters" or something like that.

So far, some combination of these steps has always eventually got me mining so I hope some of it helps. Rock and stone!

So yeah I messed around with my tv picture settings and was able to bring it close to how it previously was by decreasing the Blacklight effect and Contrast but I play DRG alot, it'd be annoying having to switch PIC mode everytime I alternate between games and watching tv. On the Windows version, I can't tell a difference in the brightness in the first map I'm on, but I have noticed the pop-in. It seems to be that small decorative stuff like grass pops in and out, but for other things it's not the whole object popping in, just it's emissive lighting that appears to turn or fade on or off depending on distance. Some things I've noticed:

  • Grass pops in/out around 55.6m
  • Glowing bulb grass in Dense Biozone pops in/out around 63.9m
  • Little pebbles on terrain pop in/out around 44m
  • Boolo Cap glow fades in and out around 40m
  • Aquarq wall indicator glow pops on/off around 60.6m
  • Bismor glow pops in/out around 65.4m
  • I managed to get over 125m away from Red Sugar without its glow fading

The radioactive crystal brightness does not seem brighter than before on the Windows version.

  • Fossil glow remains on (but still quite hard to see) at least out to 65m
  • Tumorous Growth glow pops off around 64.8m

That's not great. You shouldn't have to adjust your "dialed-in to be good for (almost) anything" display settings all of a sudden. Hopefully the actual Halloween update can bring things back to normal.

  • First attempt: extremely unsuccessful. The game froze as I tried to exit the sleeping pod.
  • Second attempt: slightly less extremely unsuccessful. The game froze after I exited the sleeping pod and was looking at mission selection.
  • Third attempt: froze on mission loading screen just shy of 50% loaded but then unfroze and loaded me. However, it keeps freezing for 5 - 20 seconds every 30 seconds or in a way that makes it functionally unplayable

Hello. I can't seem to find a support forum so i'll ask here and hope its ok. Me and a friend both got the xbox pass on pc. We where both playing online on Sunday. And today we come to play and we can't. We tryed invites and it starts to connect and then says section has ended and retunes us to the rig. We also don't see the same servers. He only had one screens worth of servers listed and i had several and we could not see the same ones. Does anyone have any idear whats going on?

When this happens, you and everyone you're playing with should exit the game entirely, and relaunch the game within a few minutes of each other. This will make sure the sessions will work. If this doesn't work on the first try, have everyone reboot their systems and try again. This has always fixed the desync issue for us.

If you still have a problem, make sure your system times are correct. In Windows, go into Windows Settings, then Time and Language, Date and Time, and make sure "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" are turned on. Incorrect system times will prevent you from being able to invite/join

If things are still funky, you can uninstall and reinstall. The game has cloud saves and a Restore Save function (in case your cloud saves don't load automatically), and is a very small download, so it's not too much of a hassle. But give the main fixes a try first

So in my second offline mission, with all the freezing it took 3 real-world minutes for the 2-minute drop pod arrival timer at the end of an aquarq mission to count down. Wild stuff

HELLO FELLOW DRG DWARVES. HELP!!!! So my game has randomly quit letting me play with friends. I can't invite anyone (in game or on xbox menu). I cant join anyone either, it just endlessly says "joining." Here's a list of stuff I've done that hasn't fixed it;
-Updated game with all available updates
-Deleted my account from xbox and re-download it
-Uninstall game and reinstall it
-Disbanded the team every time I'm in the ship

I haven't played this game for almost a year and everytime I've contacted DRG no one responds. I love this game and just wanna play it. Please help.

It looks like you've tried most of the go-to solutions already, but there's a few things more to check/try.

  • Check that your system time and time zone are correct. Set to update automatically is preferable so you don't have to worry about it.

  • In the pinned messages for this channel, there are some account settings to check that if set incorrectly might prevent multiplayer from working.

  • And you've tried disbanding the team, but I would suggest that you exit the game completely and relaunch, and have everyone you're trying to invite/join do the same. DRG sessions can become desynced, and we've been exiting and relaunching and that always works for us. If it doesn't work the first time, reboot systems and try again. Make sure everyone is launching DRG within a few minutes of each other. Then, wait until you are fully loaded into the space rig and can run around before attempting to invite/join. This method always works for us, but only if the above things (account settings and system time) are already correct.

I can't guarantee these things will fix what you're experiencing, but they're my best suggestions.
