I would recommend hazard 3 then for him on double XP only so he can level up quicker to unlock better weapons

Counterpoint: Haz 2 is a great place to start, and the XP wouldn't be that much better on Haz 3. Weigh the not-that-significant XP boost against whether or not you'd have as much fun on Haz 3 as you have on Haz 2, and my advice is to make fun the priority (and that goes for however you have your fun, some folks do have fun with a brutal challenge)

By Player Level 100, you have access to everything currently in the game (all of the high level stuff is cosmetic, so you're not missing gameplay once you've gotten your first promotion). Anything over Player Level 100 is purely bragging rights
People do mod the game. There is no official mod support coming to the Microsoft Store or Xbox versions (at this time, but also likely never given Microsoft severely limits the type of modding it'll allow on its consoles), but work is being done to bring official mod support to the Steam version

Yeah, that's just how it is. Occasionally your session may break, as you've described, and restarting the game is the only way to fix it. Once everyone is in the same session, though, you will all stay together (unless someone crashes which happens less frequently these days), and missions tend to be relatively short, so waiting for a mission to finish before restarting usually isn't too bad. It's an inconvenience, but an extremely minor one

Man, I hate to say it, but if he's tried everything short of a full reinstall of Windows, that's what I'd be doing next in that situation.
He could try some of the Windows repair stuff, if he hasn't. That seems to have gotten better, but I haven't had to use it much myself. It'd be a quicker process in the sense that he wouldn't have to back stuff up, but potentially just prolonging the inevitable if it doesn't work

Yeah, the escort missions are a bit of a time sink. Pretty much always the longest mission you could do. I've finished a whole regular deep dive in less time than my average escort mission time...
If you're not too far along in the mission, it's worth it to just restart if someone crashes and can't rejoin

A reinstall is pretty quick and relatively painless these days, but it can be a little disruptive. The thing is, it will make Windows literally as good as new, so everything should just work, including the store and anything else that might be broken. I'd be pretty surprised if it still didn't work after a full reinstall
That said, it's a process that does involve backing up files and then getting everything set up to how it was before the fresh install, which takes more time than you might first think. I almost always forget to backup something (usually a trivial something), and I always forget about setting up at least one app after the fresh install. It's not without its hassles, for sure, but it's usually worth it in the end

I noticed that you don't need to close the whole game when that happens,you just have to restart the lobby (if u are hosting) also,if ur having trouble joining a only friends session just tell your friend to switch the lobby to public and then you can join him by the server list,hope this helps anyone having this trouble

You will have to turn on "Show hidden files, folders, drives" in the View tab of Folder Options in Windows if you haven't already. Also, while in Folder Options, you should turn off "Hide extensions for know file types" to make copying and renaming the files easier.
You can get to Folder Options quickly by clicking the Start button and searching for Folder Options

Here’s my summary report on Xbox series x build of DRG and windows build. First windows build is needing some badly needed optimizations for FPS but other then that bugs are not noticeable and now on to the Xbox series x build aka Xbox build first optimizations are great on series x but wish we could get improvements on series X/S also game code bugs are slightly worse on Xbox then windows build like drones are still going to fast and downed dwarfs still expose cells on tower defense while in windows build doesn’t that bug is only noticeable with only Xbox players while Xbox players with windows build is just fine. So in conclusion I rate Xbox build using series X about a B- and the windows build about a C+ there is room for some improvements on both builds. Thanks for reading my summary report.

Another way I can describe homing drones on tower event is like windows build of drone speeds are little old ladies driving cars on Sunday slow and steady and while Xbox drone speeds are like young teenagers speeding and doing donuts with Xbox build only players.
The Drone Replicator (3 cooling tanks) will periodically deploy slow-moving drones that will home in on a player. These drones will explode and deal moderate damage upon coming in contact with any solid object or creature. They can be difficult to spot, but can be destroyed with ranged weapons. The tower will have at least one active drone out at all times, and spawn a new one if none are active. Drones will launch every 6 seconds, regardless of if the previously launched drone has exploded or not. If a drone does not explode 10 seconds after selecting its target, it will fly off in the direction it is facing.
It says slow moving drones and on Xbox only players/build no windows players/build it’s not slow moving it’s like a kid in a candy store going fast lol

DRG is a complete joke for microsoft version before it took about 3 seconds to boot up and start playing logo screens now after playing it on xbox and then back to windows build it took about 32 seconds to even load up to logo screens and the optimizations on windows build dont exist vs Xbox Series X, my computer is a little more powerful then the Xbox Series X, Hell even my brothers computer which can handle 8K content on Windows his DRG FPS is terrible

also i cant forget the screen resolution bug, but before people start saying then why dont you help with bug reporting and i have, to help with bad FPS in the short term they could add a FPS limiter for minimum FPS until they have better optimization on the game for windows and screen resolution bug they could add a HUD safe zone since the screen resolution bug seems to stem from it being like Xbox screen resolution, xbox screen seems to wanna happen on Windows build which is causing that to happen

i just did a FPS test on steam and windows builds, Steams lowest FPS was about 47 and windows build lowest FPS was about 15 doing the same thing to test it and same settings
so performance being the same doesnt quiet fit in thoses words
i did that test about 3 times and another 3 times using lowest settings and on lowest settings of video options microsoft won with maxed out FPS but no body wants to mine on low settings

Jumping allows you to maintain some amount of movement while firing, but on controller it can be tough to jump and aim. Perhaps rebinding jump to right stick push could make jumping and aiming more viable (at the expense of having to get used to new controls, of course...)
Or stand on Molly and have a friend call you into battle... (it sounds epic, but you look ridiculous [in a good way 😉 ])

Thunderhead with Carpet Bomber is quite popular, if you have it. And it actually fits well on controller as precision aiming is far less important
Lead Storm is fun against large targets, but you have to watch out for the small ones getting up on you quickly
Also, use zip lines! Riding a line gives you mobility and keeps you above most of the little stuff (if you set it up high enough off the ground). You can move back and forth along a line while continuously firing and it works quite well

It wasn't the network rework specifically that fixed it, it was the change from UWP framework to PlayFab, a completely different framework upon which DRG itself is built. Kinda like a building foundation. UWP framework was no longer being supported properly by newer versions on the Unreal Engine with which DRG is built

When that happens (and it does occasionally for pretty much everyone at some point), have everyone who is trying to play together exit the game completely and then relaunch the game within a few minutes of each other. No one should try to join or accept an invite until they are completely loaded all the way into the game and can run around in the space rig.
This works pretty much every time for issues with inviting/joining. If it doesn't work the first time, everyone reboot PCs/Xboxes and try again.
Basically, sometimes sessions become unjoinable and the only way to fix that and make sure everyone can get in is to have everyone exit and relaunch

i also had him run the command prompt "ping google.com -t" to check his Response rate and packet loss and it was an average of 25ms and 0% packet loss if that makes any difference

If you're looking for save files, there's instructions for finding those as part of the save transfer info. If you're looking for the actual game data, Windows kinda locks down that folder to make it a little hard to find/get into. I believe it's the "WindowsApps" folder on whatever drive you've chosen for apps to be installed (default is probably C:\ )

You can also use revo uninstaller software it does a deep uninstall of whatever game/app you need completely uninstalled. I had to use it when a game wouldn’t uninstall completely from my computer it kept coming back for no reason

DRG is almost entirely procedurally generated, so it really is a very small install size compared to most other games these days. Procedural generation does wonders on game size. Heck, No Man's Sky managed to ship with billions of planets and the the install size was around 5gb at launch

Technically speaking, it is possible. Other games have done it. However, as far as I can tell, since DRG is not server-based it would require a good bit of time and resources as the devs would basically have to build their own system to handle all of the networking amongst players instead of relying on Steam's or Microsoft's infrastructures for matchmaking. This would probably mean little to no content updates while they rebuild the networking, and I can easily imagine it taking quite a while to get it working well enough for release. So, it's basically a trade off of where to spend resources: devs can improve/expand the game itself or they can expand crossplay

Improving/expanding the game itself affects everyone, every time, but expanding crossplay only affects users who would use it. Because there's no ready built solution to make expanding crossplay easy to do, in my mind it becomes a "nice to have" thing if/when possible eventually, while content remains the priority

I can't say for certain that this will help, but this would be the first place I'd start looking:

I suspect the issue is that DRG is a peer-to-peer game instead of a server/client game, and since you're on the same network there are network collisions happening. That NAT troubleshooting page may help to figure out the issue and hopefully solve it

See what NAT type you have from open to moderate to strict and if you r tech savvy enough open up the required ports to allow DRG thru. I had to open up a port for call of duty Cold War from moderate to open NAT type

If you haven't already, in the View tab of Folder Options in Windows you need to turn off "Hide extensions for known file types" to make copying and renaming the files easier. Save file name and file extension (the .sav or the lack of a .sav) must match the original save file exactly or the file will not be recognized.
You can get to Folder Options quickly by clicking the Start button and searching for Folder Options

You could try doing the most recent pin tutorial to find the save file. I had a bug a long time ago that made the file double in size per notification until it is so large that it crashes the game on startup. You can send me the save file as well and I can give it a try to see if I crash, just to eliminate that factor. There should also be pins for various crashes and whatnot pinned either here or in bug discussion.

are you running the steam version in DX11 or DX12 because microsoft requires DX12 and i know a few video cards dont support DX12
