They really did a doozie with stage 2 of the DD, going all the way down these long tunnels to get to the Dread, and then allll the way back to the top of the map to make it on the drop pod. Mollie made it with about 40 seconds to spare

Since Microsoft seems to be (very slowly) deprecating the old Xbox Companion App, you can use the Game Bar (access by pressing Windows Key + G) to find friends and invite to party chat, invite to game, and join their games and parties

Both of you should try exiting the game, and relaunching the game. That fixes the invite/joining issues

The issue is that mods are community created and that’s a floodgate that we cannot open up on console. Content needs to be curated and that’s not something that’s possible.

Make sure you have "Show extensions for known file types" in the turned on in the View tab of "Folder Options." Click the Start button, and type folder options to get there quickly.

If you don't have "Show extensions..." turned on it can be hard to make sure you're renaming the save files correctly so that the game finds them

Yeah, but they already put a lot of that stuff in folders that require adding privileges to access, as well as having a warning that you shouldn't open those folders unless you're sure you know what you're doing. And with most of those files, if you change the name that will break things even if you don't change the extension. ive noticed a difference between steam and windows boot ups, steam has a small window open up that says deep rock galactic and then do the requirements of publishers and devs, while windows once click to boot up does nothing then opens up to do required publisher and devs studio names, once i click drg windows version it takes about 4 seconds to go into black screen then GSG logo video, at least with steam that small window to let us know that we are booting up DRG is helpful vs windows build of click game and nothing happens for roughly 4 seconds then black screen then GSG logo then coffee stain then screen resoultion bug lol

Well it happened I met my first toxic team member in this game. Not bad considering I'm level 60 have a fair amount of hours put in already. I'm coming from OverWatch so I know what a toxic teammate sounds like. Basically I was doing the has 4 Mission to unlock has five. It's a struggle with a four-man group a randos and I expected as much. No one's talking just pinging and the usual but towards the end this guy decides to get on Mike and completely out one of our teammates as not knowing what he's doing doesn't know how to play the game using curse words and such. Sound like a teenager 16 or something. I just told him politely and chat to chill it's not a big deal I was the host and it doesn't bother me what he was doing wasn't freaking doing anything. Anyway we end up wiping and he continues to berate the one other guy. This happened in like the last 2 minutes of the mission or else I would have kicked them if it was sooner I don't tolerate that type of behavior anymore. So I would learn for me and if you get anyone talking s*** on voice chat just kick him. Anyway I just had to get that off my chest thanks for listening to my TED talk lol

Serverlist/hosting games is greyed out:

1. Check your user privileges! It might be that you have a setting that does not allow online play. (this can be done by going to https://account.xbox.com/Settings and checking the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online safety tab)
2. Make sure you're on the latest version of deep rock (try restarting the game and check for a update, if that doesn't help try a restart of your PC/Xbox)
3. If you are playing on Xbox: do you have a active Gold membership?

i have been streaming this game so i use process lasso to mitigate the perfomance hit i take by using x264 encoder to limite DRG to 8 logical cores, if it starts up with the affinity set in process lasso it refuses to let me play online

once i clear the affinity and restarts the game it works fine

hello, i've been having troubles with the game on pc game pass since it's been just closing to desktop without any message about every 20-30 min

has anyone else had this issue and possibly solved it?

i've tried:
-Disabling any overlays (including xbox game bar)
-minimizing quality
-changing full screen to windowed (with and without vsync)
-Troubleshooting windows store
-Rolling back and updating drivers (clean installations both times)

So I'm looking to get DRG on my PC. It isn't cross platform and I was hoping to get it on windows or Steam. Am I able to transfer my progress between platforms? I don't want to loose all my progress. :(

Well, the Xbox/Windows Store version is cross-play and Play Anywhere, so if you already own the Xbox version (or have Game Pass) you can just download the game from the Windows Store without needing to purchase anything. Since the game uses Xbox cloud saves your progress will transfer to/from Xbox and Windows Store versions.

The Steam version has no cross-play, but you can still transfer your progress manually between the Steam and Windows Store versions. There are instructions on how to find and copy your save files between Steam and Windows Store versions linked in the pinned messages for this channel

Not likely, as far as I'm aware, epic does not have anything nearly as robust as steamworks or any kind of networking backend that could be used for DRG. GSG would need to develop their own.

Plus the only benefit I see to using the EGS is the 12% cut they take compared to steam. It clearly shows though on the quality of the store and the tools available to developers.

Epic may have something. The app has been offering to install "Epic Online Services" for a while now, and from what I can tell it appears to be an account/networking tool for devs to use in their games?

It showed up in the app update section of the app. I haven't installed it, but it does look like it's the kind of thing that's meant for devs to provide multiplayer features. The store/app has been slow and quiet about bringing new things, and I think they're still working on a shopping cart functionality so you can buy more than one title or one DLC at a time...

If you're asking if there was an update recently: yes, there was a small patch on the 16th at the end the anniversary event to return the space rig to normal and set the Scale Brigade Armor Assignment as only available if you're Player Level is over 100. Looks like it contained a few little hotfixes as well.

Could be because all assets are packed into one large file, over a gig, and it's easier to just replace that whole file with the an updated assets pack than it is to change just the individual assets that need to be updated. Creating a problem-free patcher that only downloads and updates the changed files is way more work (and can easily introduce way more issues) than just downloading and replacing a single packed asset file.

Alternatively, the devs could potentially just have the patch be small asset files that take precedence and load instead of packed assets. This method would allow for much smaller downloads, but it would mean that the install size of DRG would grow with each patch as the install would contain a growing list of redundant assets.

Since the packed asset file is so small (relative to other games), I think downloading and replacing the whole thing makes sense.

sometimes achievements get a delay, next time you login or unlock another achievement it might trigger

Afaik the only achievements for promoting is to promote all dwarfs once, then again for promoting them all to legendary (Gold) level. I don't think there's an achievement for getting one to silver rank, it's for all of them to be promoted once and then for all of them to reach Gold tier promotions

I can walk you through it later today if you'd like. The main things, are to 1: MAKE BACK UP's!! And B: change the name of the main save file to the one you are transferring it to.

In the case of Xbox 2 steam there is a .sav file, you NEED that ".sav" when you rename the file from the long string of letters and numbers on Xbox.

Try both of you exiting the game, and relaunching within a few minutes of each other. This always works for us. If it doesn't work the first time, reboot consoles and PCs and try launching within a few minutes of each other again

Hey guys, I can't seem to find info on this so I ask here:
My friends and I got the game via Xbox game pass and some of us are crashing in a strange pattern.
I'm only crashing very rarely and only if I'm NOT the host and the host crashed about 10 minutes ago.
Friend 1 of mine crashes exactly every 30 minutes.
Friend 2 crashes sometimes by himself but most often right after friend 1 crashes. (about 1 crash per hour)
Friend 3 crashes absolutely randomly. (about 2 crashes per hour)

Does anyone know how to fix that?

Turns out someone else had the same idea a few years ago and developed Matrix. It's basically an open standard for decentralized, encrypted, communication over IP. This looks really cool and I'm going to investigate further. Looks like there's even a few clients designed to look like discord.

Developers had to rework network framework and that included playfab and that’s not part of the unreal game engine network code so developers had to do some magic and that fixed a lot of multiplayer issues but it introduced some bugs like the directx 12 discoloration bug on bugs

Not every 30 minutes after the start, every 30 minutes in general. So if he starts a game at like 4PM he'll crash at 4:30. If he starts the game at 4:40 after that, he'll crash at 5:00. 30 minutes from the last crash no matter when he starts the game

Because Microsoft doesn't allow that, probably. It doesn't "look good for the user" if after a crash you get a popup with a message. Apple has similar guidelines for their apps afaik.

Yep, you still can. Make sure your friend has turned off "Hide extensions for known file types" in the View tab of Folder Options. You can get to Folder Options quickly by clicking the Windows Start button on the Taskbar, and then typing "folder options" (without the quotes). Go to the View tab of Folder Options and make sure the box for "Hide extensions..." is unchecked. Then click "Apply"

To successfully copy the saves between versions, you must make sure the file names and the file extensions match exactly. Windows turns on "Hide extensions..." by default, which makes matching both the file name and the file extention more difficult

The news about mods coming to steam has definitely made me put the game down a bit, probably mixed feeling with having everything unlocked and finally reaching rank 1000. Still my favorite game ever but just knowing we're not getting mods has been ruining my enjoyment lately. I know nothing about mods so I might be assuming stuff aswell. Unofficial just sounds like it wouldn't be made by the developers but it could still be anything from infinite ammo, godmode, increased DMG or having multiple mules?
I don't think the playerbase has to be on the same version to be fragmented, I guess it's psychological but just knowing a version of the game has less features usually makes me stay away from it because I know I can't get the same level of enjoyment as someone else. This game being an exception but usually if I learn a game as mods on pc and not Xbox I don't buy it. Might be selfish but I feel like if you committed to releasing the game on both PC and Xbox they should have the same features or scrap the idea for both but I know some Xbox players also don't care about that and will enjoy the game just as much so maybe that's just me

It's like having add-ons to your favorite game but exclusive to the other console I think anyone who like the game alot would be going for the version of it with the dlc

Mods already exist for drg and they have for a while. The whole point of the update, the main focus really, is to separate modded lobbies from unmodded ones. This will significantly improve the new player experience. No longer will people join modded lobbies and think the game is a giant buggy mess.

As for mods on xbox, complain to microsoft about their underpowered hardware and closed software.

I think the part I was missing it that Xbox allows for official mods but not unofficial ones from my understanding? This has to be the only benefit of being on windows version hackers aren't a thing, think I ve only ever seen recording of one but never in person with over 1k hrs

Minecraft has behavioral packs and are required to download to join worlds on Xbox with host requiring them and I’m not sure why windows DRG version can’t have something like that if u wanna join a modded DRG game a pack is required to join.

It's more about Microsoft keeping the Xbox a walled garden than about its hardware's capabilities, but limited RAM/VRAM can absolutely become an issue in terms of mods

You might be able to perform ray tracing calculations and draw 4k images to the screen 60 times a second, but if you have nowhere for working data to be stored, all performance will suffer or things will not work at all

Video ram does have its limits but only if developers don’t optimize the game correctly aka out of video memory bug ring a bell lol

But, in general terms, not just for DRG, if a game is loading 4k assets, those will use more VRAM than lower-res assets. And mods that add assets will use more RAM than the base game uses by itself. For a console, the RAM/VRAM cannot be upgraded by buying new components, and if a game already utilizes most/all of the finite system resources then there isn't really any room left for mods. All that said, the larger impediment to modding is Microsoft does not want to allow people to add uncertified software or files onto their consoles because it could potentially open the door to piracy and/or (more) cheating on their platforms

Xbox currently only suffer from cheaters in 360 titles and crossplay titles, thats one of the benefits from playing on the xbox. Sure you could argue controllers/xim’s but ya know
