Sorry if this is late, but there is a "Restore Save" feature in the Options menu under Gameplay. I'm not sure exactly how that works, whether it pulls a save from the cloud or rolls back to a previous save, but it might help

It's never a bad idea to make backups of save files. I occasionally make a backup of my Deep Rock save because there has been trouble in the past. I've never needed to rely on it, but it provides some peace of mind

Buuuut Ive been having a problem with the assignment board “Objective: Conquer Hoxxes IV” and it’s been stuck on the 2nd to last mission which is escort duty, after I’ve done it at least 3-4 times. My friend is also experiencing this too and I don’t know what to do.

Yeah I've been encountering the bug via his end but it usually happens when I drop in a sesh in progress you tend to fall roughly 5000m down then either die or just get stuck back in the spot your pod dropped you some times you can shoot for a few seconds then you can do anything

If you exit the game and restart, you should be able to invite. No idea why exactly, but after playing for a bit it's like you become out of sync with everyone else and you won't be able to invite. It will also make it so that friends sometimes can't join you.

Everyone trying to play together then needs to exit and restart, and then everyone should be able to join or invite with no problems. A bit frustrating, but easy and reliable to work around

That is a problem. Honestly, you really don't have that much progress that you'd lose unless you've been playing a ton without completing that first assignment

You could probably get those 8 missions done in 2 - 3 hours. Less if you put it on Hazard 1 and cheese it just to be done. The game doesn't really open up until you finish that assignment, and you'll only lose a tiny bit of gold and XP by rushing through it on Haz 1

That is a tough call to make, yeah. If you only have those Engineer levels to lose, I'd say it's probably worth starting over. You can get back to that level fairly quickly now that you have the hang of things.

Hazard 1 is extremely easy: you can pretty much ignore the bugs and rush the objectives and race through the whole assignment. It won't be fun, but it'll be done. Or play the usual Hazard level of choice and enjoy it

It's a bitter decision to make, but if that mission has really bugged out for you and you cannot move past it, you'll never be able to do new assignments to promote your dwarves, unlock new weapons, unlock the mineral trade terminal, or a few other things that are tied to assignments

Alternate primary weapon assignments become available at class level 10 and secondary is available at class level 15. But only once you've completed that first assignment

It won't take nearly as long to make up your lost progress as it has to keep trying to complete the bugged assignment mission

And I haven't really seen many complaints of assignments bugging out tin this way, so it probably won't happen again. Not that that's much comfort given what you've been dealing with

I actually cannot recall having seen anyone have this problem before.

I can't guarantee it'll work, but since the assignment isn't advancing no matter what you've tried, I can guarantee that you will get stuck at Engineer level 25 and will no longer make any progress. You won't be able to unlock new weapons. You won't be able to do Deep Dives. You won't be able to earn Weapon Overclocks. You will only be able to get all classes to level 25 and then be stuck unable to progress further

I am genuinely surprised it has bugged out like this. I've experienced some weirdness a few times with assignments, but nothing where I was unable to eventually complete the assignment. The trouble is that since it's the first assignment that unlocks all of the planet, you cannot abort it and therefore you cannot move on to other assignments

I know it seems like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things, you're not losing much yet. Now, if you had promoted and really started unlocking stuff that'd be a different story.

And like I said earlier, you'll be able to make up for what you lost faster now that you know what you're doing.

If you want, you could wait until the next update. Since there's two new regions to explore in the new update, the assignment you're on might get updated to include those new regions, and that might fix the issue. There's no way to know for sure though

A reasonable concern. But I haven't seen it break like this before, and the fact that it's happened for your friend as well is strange. I can't begin to guess what would cause this

You could wait for the update and see if that fixes it, but it'll be a little bit. And in the meantime, if you play more you'll have even more progress that you might have to throw out if the update doesn't fix it

Hey, I need some help. I'm trying to play this game with my bro on xbox, but pressing Y to invite players doesn't work. Tried to host a password protected match, only to find that the server browser can't find a single match at all. We gave up and are now doing monster hunter world, which is working perfectly fine with 0 issues. It's not urgent or anything now since we're just gonna do MH, but it's really frustrating and I'm going to refund the game unless if I can find a solution.

I have noticed when playing with friends that if they have been playing for a while they will not be able to invite anyone and I will not be able to join them until we all exit and relaunch the game. Same thing if I've been playing for a while I cannot invite anyone and friends will not just be able to join me until we all exit and relaunch.

I have no idea why this happens, and I don't know how long it takes to get into this "unjoinable" state, but it is very consistent. Likewise, if we all exit and restart then it very consistently allows us to join/invite. Once we are all in a game together everything works and we don't need to mess around with exiting/restarting until someone else wants to join or someone crashes

It's so consistent that if a friend tries to join once and it doesn't work, we all just immediately exit the game as a reflex now. As soon as we all get back in, we are able to invite/join on the first try

#

Sometimes it seems like you could be a mission or two into a session, and a friend can join, but other times it feels like even just a few minutes into your first mission of a session joining won't work. I suspect it may have something to do with missions rolling over at the half hour mark, but even that doesn't seem to always make the "unjoinable" state occur

#

Everyone exiting and relaunching within a few minutes of each other always sorts it out though, and DRG loads so quickly that it really isn't too much of a pain. Only really an issue when we're halfway through a mission we don't want to abort and someone has to wait a few minutes for us to finish up before they can join

I would try to invite through the Xbox menu. I'm on PC, so I can't speak to the Xbox side of things much, but I do believe my friend on Xbox invites me through the Xbox menu, not the in-game menu.

My above messages about not being able to invite anyone and friends not being able to join you after you've been playing for a while still apply.

Exit the game completely, and have everyone who is trying to join you do the same. Then relaunch the game, and wait until you're fully loaded into the space rig and can run around before you try to join or invite. That goes for everyone else as well.

If it doesn't work on the first try (it almost always works on the first try), reboot consoles and PCs and then relaunch the game. This has always worked for us

Odd that other games would work fine but DRG would not. Also, I know for sure my friend is using an ethernet cable from his router to his Xbox, and he has no problems (other than what I mentioned about playing too long). It could be a setting in your router that is different between ethernet and wifi connections

Yeah, it's quite strange. I'd expect if it were a network issue it'd affect MHW too. That's why I don't think it's a full on network issue, but possibly a setting that other games handle fine but causes problems for DRG. I feel like it's a stretch, but it's the only thing I can think of

heres a pro tip beware of XP gainers that join late in game to get free XP i know of a couple players that do that and technically havent earned there high level

so this might be as simple as something like Norton or other avg apps blocking it
could also be that you need to go into your xbox profile setting via the website and make sure online matchmaking is allowed with everyone not just friends or off (yesterday i had mine randomly switch that and my communication[voice chat, dms] off)

Make sure your game is up to date. I haven't had issues with connection since the recent multiplayer overhaul but back in the day there was issues with "teredo did not qualify", issues with firewalls, nat type, restarting the console to fix it or sometimes it just wouldn't let you connect to anyone for days.

I think elemental bulks could be neat. Like I love the concept of the golden bulk and I think it opens up some interesting possibilities. Such as nuclear bulks which detonate with fallout, or magma bulks that leave seared ground like normal bulks do in the magma zone. Maybe bulks that leave craters with a slime surface?

Because the devs would have to come up with a system to allow Steam accounts to talk to Xbox accounts. As far as I'm aware, there's currently no easy, turnkey solution, so the devs would have to build their own. That is not currently planned

Steam and the microsoft version use different backends to facilitate the matchmaking process. These two are incompatible with each other. GSG would need to develop its own backend and operate their own servers for it to be possible.

@sacred bay You and your friends should try exiting the game, and then relaunching the game. That should fix your ability to join/invite. Make sure you wait until you are completely loaded into the game and can run around the space rig before trying to invite/join.

This works for myself and my friends all the time. If it doesn't work the first time you try it, have everyone reboot their PC/Xbox and try again. Try to launch the game within a few minutes of each other

Some newer folks seem to be under the misguided impression that machine events don't do anything because they don't realize that blank cores are needed to collect a reward. It's quite a mistake though, as even if you don't successfully complete the machine event you still get a decent chunk of XP for starting them...

All you have to do is start the event. You can run away and get free XP for pushing a few buttons. Far quicker than completing any secondary objective, and worth almost as much XP

In my experience it's been pretty obvious what a person's player level is by how they play, but every now and again you get someone over player level 50 that really fools you into thinking they're less than player level 10. The "guess the player level" game does make things exciting, but not always in a good way, haha

Ok my dumb question of the week. Is QA just testing out build of steam and converting it over to windows build or is some QA testing aka just playing windows build being done because it seems more QA testing is being done on steam and hoping it works for Microsoft version. Cough steam filter windows build cough.

It just seems that QA work is being put into steam version and using Microsofts weird converting software to convert steam build to Microsoft version like how Microsoft said that it’s easy to port android apps to windows at that time they had that software

Not really, regular h5 builds you would have decent DMG/ammo economy but for speedruns you need none of that it s very specific builds on speedruns

If your goal is speedruns you should look up their recorded runs you d get a better idea, I don t think they talk builds much on that channel

For speedrunning deep dives, you generally only need to deal with certain enemies and ignore the rest. You'd be better off making a build after seeing what you're up against week to week

Yeah, unfortunately Steam has no crossplay, and at this time there are no plans to add crossplay. Furthermore, Discord integration is a Steam-only feature, so joining a game through Discord only works for the Steam version

soo been playing for a long time and i have both the steam version and the microsoft version and ive been wanting to play with my friend thru xbox, i went thru the post in reddit about passing ur profile to the other i was able to do it from microsoft to steam but i am unable to transfer my steam to microsoft because the save file is saved as .sav and the microsoft version does not accept that kind of file it has to be a regular file. Problem is i cannot find a way to change my steam .sav file to a ordinary file so it could work

You own the game on Xbox, so you can use the Microsoft Store built into Windows to download and install DRG. Once installed, run it once and load in to make sure it has your progress. Then exit DRG, go to Steam, and buy DRG on Steam (this will be the only time you have to buy the game again).

Run the Steam version once, load in to the game and then exit. You should now have your Xbox progress in the Windows version, and the Steam save files will have been created.

Now just follow the steps in the reddit post to copy your save from Windows to Steam

If you want the DLC to work in the Steam version, yes, you would have to buy the DLC again on Steam. There is no cross-buy or cross-play for Steam, but the save files are compatible so you can use the method to at least transfer progress between the versions. It's unofficial and a little bit of effort, but it works.

Since you just got a PC, do make sure to turn on "Show file extensions" in the view tab of "Folder Options" in Windows. It will make it easier to edit the file names correctly so that the transfer works

Any DLC equipped in a save file will show up when you load that save file, even if you're loading that save file in a different version. However, if you ever select any other paint color or style you will not be able to select the DLC palint/style again in a version where you don't own the DLC.

So, in your case when you load up the Steam version, if you ever change off of a DLC style or color, you will not be able to select it again in the Steam version unless you buy the DLC on Steam as well or go through the steps to transfer saves back and forth to load a save with DLC already equipped
