I don't think it's sad. Some people just have different priorities. I've never owned an Xbox or Playstation, and while Steam does have achievements I've never really paid attention to them, so for me achievements are a fun bonus, but I often forget they exist until I get a notification that I did something
That's not to say I'm not glad they're there; they can give you a goal to work towards, which can sometime help you see more of a game than you might without them. I just forget they're there until someone or something reminds me

I suppose that's the flip-side of the coin that is Game Pass: it's so easy to jump into something new because you don't have to buy each game, but that also makes it very easy to jump back out because if it doesn't hook you immediately you haven't wasted money, only time (which does still have value). I think if you like co-op games and have some friends to join you, it's quite hard not to like DRG; bugs and similar issues aside, it's a good concept and it's executed well. It's a bit harder sell if you don't already have some folks lined up to play with, but solo isn't bad because Bosco changes how you play enough to make that interesting. But not every game is for everyone, and even when the game is something you like there's still so many games to play and only so much time...

@olive crescent bit of a captain obvious statement, but make sure that your game is up to date since it does not automatically update through the windows store. Make sure it is not the insider version either.
That is the primary reason that I can think of for those issues if you have already tried troubleshooting network stuff. Could be firewall or AV too.

If you type Deep Rock Galactic into the search bar in the Windows Store, it should find it even before you finish typing. Alternatively, you can use the Xbox app (not the Xbox Console Companion app) from the Windows Store to find and install games from Game Pass

Glad you didn't lose your progress. It might be a good idea to make a backup copy of your save file periodically. You can follow the directions in the pinned messages for transferring your saves between Windows and Steam to find the location(s) if the save files so you can make a backup

Upon launching Deep Rock, the coffee stain and ghost ship logo appears, but a minute later the game closes. "The Gaming UI appears stating: the UE4-FSD Game has crashed and will close. Fatal Error." This seems to be related to the Unreal Engine. My system specifications are: Windows 10 Pro (64 bit), AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor, 3593 Mhz, 6 cores, 32.0 GB RAM, Radeon RX 580 Series Graphics card (1 gig ram)
This has been an ongoing issue for some time. A clean reinstall of Windows did not remedy the issue. I'm not overclocking either. Any ideas?
Prior to the reinstall, I updated all drivers (had the same issue then as now), and manually installed the video driver as well (same UE error described above). All drivers ate up to date now as well.

SOLVED at last! I fixed this by rolling back the video driver to the previous version on AMD's website. Adrenaline 2020 Edition 20.10.1 allowed the game to run without issue so far.

HDMI carries audio, and it's very likely that the RX 480 has an HDMI port, so something (probably your monitor or something related to HDMI) should be there in the Playback Devices list if you installed all the drivers for the RX 480 successfully. However, audio is usually also built into the motherboard these days, so Bones, you should look up the model of your motherboard on the manufacturer's website and download the audio drivers there

Where you rollback your Driver, and your audio breaks
Find Device Manager, and go into the System devices tab
Look for something that says Audio bus
If theres a ! next to it
right click it and open its properties
and roll it back
this should fix your issues and allow your speakers and audio to work again

I play DRG on Steam, but recently got PC Game Pass. I have friends who play the game on Xbox who I couldn't play with recently, but now I can play DRG with them because I have it on Game Pass.
Is it possible to "sync" up my Steam save file with my PC Game Pass DRG? Maybe it's possible to copy paste the Steam save file over to the PC Game Pass DRG folder? Or are they incompatible?
I also don't wanna be like, banned for save file manipulating or something like that. So avoiding that would be nice.

I mean, it's the same thing over and over in the same way that most games are pretty much the same thing over and over when you look at them empirically.
DRG may only have 7 different primary objectives, but each mission you do is pretty much unique because each cave is procedurally generated. Every time you go in there's a new cave to explore. Sure, you have the same primary objectives and secondary objectives, but you never know where they're going to be. Not to even mention the mission mutations which can significantly alter how an otherwise routine mission feels. And if you're finding things too easy, you can bump up the difficulty; playing on Hazard 5 will change how you have to play. You can change your class, your weapons, your weapon mods, your overclocks, and your perks and get a completely different way to play.
None of these things will change the primary objectives, which I'm guessing is your complaint, but they will change how you go about achieving those objectives, which means not doing the same things in the same way over and over, despite the goal being the same.
If you've already unlocked everything, all the perks, all the weapon mods, all the overclocks, all the cosmetic items, and/or have nothing more that you are inspired to work towards, then you've pretty much beaten the game. And that's okay. But I find it hard to say it's the same thing over and over when you have so much you can change to alter how each mission will go, even when the objectives are same

Not that I want to brag, but I completed an Elimination mission on Hazard 4 yesterday. It was my first successful mission on that difficulty and I was actually fearing for my life half the time I fought through the hordes.
I used a Gunner for that mission. Lead Storm overclock Minigun with the Blow-through Round mod; Homebrew Powder Overclock Revolver with both Ammo Bag mods, Splash Damage mod, and Neurotoxin mods; and Sticky Grenades. Combined with the Shield Generator, fighting off the swarms has never been more thrilling (in the frightening/satisfying way).
Maybe I should use a Driller for that kind of mission next time? Drill myself a foxhole and fry the swarm with the Sticky Fuel overlock Flamethrower?

You shouldn't be seeing swarms on an elimination mission in the first place. Unless you did a machine event or something

Has anybody else had issues joining a friend's game on the Windows 10 version? My friend and I recently started playing via Game Pass, and when we try to use the in-game invite system, it never works. The notification to accept the invite comes through the Xbox Console Companion app on Windows, but if we choose to accept it launches the game again in a new window, and never successfully joins.
We've had to resort to creating a password protected server and manually joining via server browser

I'm having a weird issue in windows ver. Start couple days ago. The game crashes and I have no error. Nothing. It's just goes away and I have to restart it. I can be in a mission or at the station. With friends or solo. It just dies. For the windows version is there a bug report or crashlog somewhere? Anyone seen this issue? I was playing fine for days and now it just crashes all the time.

Yeah tried drivers and win updates.The system I run is pretty new. 2080ti, i7 9th gen. Don't OC anything. Again it was running fine for weeks(started playing couple weeks ago. Love the game) and two days ago it just started crashing. I disabled firewall. Tried older drivers. Uninstalled and dled game. Nothing keeps it from crashing. My other games run fine. Destiny 2.. FF14... AC Valhalla. All run great. Just this game...

There’s a bug with a gear modification on minigun. It’s called aggressive venting and it keeps the dwarf stuck in it’s either jump or fall animation even after it’s done venting at least for me.
Scratch that it happens every time the gun jams it doesn’t matter the gear modification

Hey everyone. I am currently playing DRG on the Microsoft Store via Gamepass. I have encountered an issue where I cannot join my friends online sessions (the game says 'joining' and then freezes) and I cannot press C to invite them to my session. However, if i go into the tutorial and complete it, these issues disappear and I can invite them/join their session. When I close the game and reopen it , the same problem occurs and I have to do the tutorial again in order to join sessions. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked my Xbox networking and privacy settings an everything seems fine. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Might be able to simply press disband team to fix it, or load tutorial and quit it. As for a proper fix, I have no idea outside of making sure that the game is up to date.

@swift swallow You can try having you and all your friends exit and restart DRG at pretty much the same time, and then wait until you're loaded all the way into the space rig and can run around before trying to join or invite friends

Did they nerf the Gunner's shield or is it bugged in the newest update?

I agree that you should play whatever class you're enjoying most. That might change moment to moment because they offer different playstyles. And then with loadout variations they can feel even more different.
As for wasted effort, I don't think any class feels like wasted effort because each one plenty of options to try. Also, if and when you do play multiplayer, it's not a bad idea to have upgrades and a bit of experience with a few classes so you can better round out a team. It's not necessary, of course, as you can go in with 4 of the same class, but the way each class differs tends to lend itself well to having a diverse team.
Any class is viable solo, but scout is probably the easiest to solo as the grappling hook is amazing for getting everywhere,
for getting out of trouble, and for providing you a little room to catching your breath when things are hectic.
Driller is a lot of fun once you get the feel down for using the drills to get around and the flamethrower is great close-up crowd control.
Engineer is absolutely solid solo, just have to remember to set up the turret(s). I play a lot of engineer and I'm still occasionally bad at that. And sometimes the turret can't do too much work (like in a narrow tunnel), but when it's in a wide open space it'll take care of a lot of bugs.
Gunner is probably easiest to get into. The minigun is fun to shoot, the shield is basically a "get out of jail free card." However, I think the ziplines are the weakest traversal tool of the 4. It's slow to use when ascending up an incline (but very fast and fun when sliding down), you can get knocked off of them very easily (which often results in some amount of falling damage), and you don't get a ton of ziplines to deploy.
It's hard to pick a favorite as whenever I switch classes I always instantly miss some aspect of the previous class. I suppose that shows how well designed the classes and gameplay are. They're all viable and offer different gameplay in neat ways

When you move a file over, it basically becomes the save file you're using on the version you moved to. So, in your case, since you moved over the MS save to Steam, when you play on Steam it will have the progress you had on the MS version at the time you moved the file, and all new progress you make on Steam will be saved in that file. That file no longer is used by the MS version.
If you want to play on both Steam and MS and keep all of your progress each time you play, you will have to move that save every time between the versions before you start playing. (And I can't speak to how the Union stuff would work if you're doing that, as I've not tried that myself).
No worries at all. It's not the most straightforward process, and losing progress is a miserable feeling so asking questions is the best thing to do. I'm not too sure about how the Union stuff or Steam achievements are tracked and updated, however unless something has changed since Unions were first introduced, the bonus minerals and credits that are earned are paid out at the end of each Union period (which I think is about a month or so but it's been a long time since I looked at that stuff so I might be wrong about how long it lasts).
At the end of a period, everyone in each Union gets the rewards that were earned collectively. At that point, I believe you can change which Union you are in (if you want to) and then a new period will begin a little after the previous one ends

Enemy health, speed, and damage increase with Hazard level. Number of enemies scales with number of players and larger enemies' health often scales with the number as well.
Unlock Perks at the terminal on the wall opposite the Character Select terminal in the pod you spawn in. Equip Perks in the Equipment terminal (look for the slots just to the right of your primary and secondary weapons.
Credits and Minerals can be slow to accumulate, so when starting out only buy the upgrades you think you want to use as they unlock. In the Equipment terminal, for each weapon or tool you can only have one active modification per row.
Complete assignments as quick as possible because they will unlock more biomes, mission types, and eventually new weapons.
And feel free to come here with questions. It's a good community. And for that reason, don't be afraid to join some random missions if your friends aren't around. Most random folks I've played with are great. This game really shines when you get some teamwork going
